When we walk with God, we often experience periods of testing, periods of trials, and periods of tribulation. These periods of trials and tribulations cause us to lean into God ever the more. It causes us to trust in God more than we trust in ourselves. When we follow God intimately and walk with Him in every part of our lives, the challenges and the testing seems to be inordinate.
It seems to be that there’s always something to overcome, always something to do, always something to accomplish. The reason it seems this way is because we are attempting to earn the grace that God gives us freely. We’re attempting to walk fully into something that God gave us from the time of our birth. This scripture says “I have loved thee with an everlasting love”. It doesn’t say conditional love. It doesn’t say a proud love. It doesn’t say a love that depends on whether you are good or bad or always accomplishing something.
No, this love is everlasting. And with this love, He draws us near. That drawing near, that testing, that trial, and that tribulation, all of that is for the edification of God, for the edification of His kingdom, for the edification of His people, and for the edification of you and your family. All of the drawing, all of the testing, all of it comes into place as an ability, as a character builder, and as a promise that God is with us always.
Not just when things are good, but when things are so far beyond our control that we consider giving up on everything, including ourselves. This love that God has for us sees the flaws, sees the mismanagement, sees every culprit that has kept you from stepping fully into that everlasting love. For allowing the love of God to shift from head knowledge to you, to a deep inner heart knowledge for you.
This journey and the drawing that God does is because He loves us. This morning, as you rise and prepare for the day, spend some time in God’s presence, remembering that above all else, He is holy, He is sovereign, and He is God. Considering all of those things, He is still mindful of you. He sent His Son to die on the cross so that you and I could be saved.
This great love, that He would lay down His Son’s life and that His Son would willingly give up His life because no man could take it, this demonstration of love that is so deep and that challenges so fully is what we all need to experience in our hearts and minds. The sacrificial love of God to send His Son Jesus Christ. That same sacrificial love is possible inside you and I to step fully into the breaking, fully into the outpouring, and fully into God’s Spirit because He loves us.
Not because we earned it, not because we were special, or that we did all of these things right. No, not by works, but by faith are we loved by God. The love goes from head knowledge to heart knowledge when we make that crucial shift from performing for God’s love to simply being in God’s love, to simply receiving God’s love, and to trusting God’s love. All of these things happen when we let go and we turn to the King of the universe.
When we turn to the promises of God, which are yes and amen. When we turn to the King of kings and the Lord of lords, we tell the environment that He is God. We tell every problem that He is greater, and we remind ourselves that we are loved. We are loved, we are covered, we are blessed by His love.. Accepting this at a heart level might just change your life. It may open you up to receive from others.
It may tear down the walls of unforgiveness, mistrust, and doubting everything you see. All of those things that belong to the enemy begin to break when you accept that you are loved with an everlasting love. The Bible says that perfect love casts out fear. In 1 John 4:18 it says:
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. - 1 John 4:18 KJV
Fear, doubt, overwhelm, and worry are all the opposite of receiving that love. Love is the thing that is necessary. Love is the thing that you need, and this love you already have. This love we are already walking in. This love is a gift from God that is unconditional and everlasting.
The easiest thing that you can do is receive that love right now. The easiest, most profound change you can make to your life is receiving the unconditional, everlasting love of our God.
We are covered. We are blessed and highly favored. We are loved.
Closing Devotional Prayer
My prayer for you: Father, in the name of Jesus, thank you. Thank you, God, for the grace of God this morning. Thank you for the word of the Lord of God calling us into a place of openness, God. Thank you, Lord God, for calling us into a place of peace, God.
Thank you, Lord Go,d for calling us with your word. Lord God you are indeed drawing us near. You are indeed calling us closer. You are indeed breaking down every wall. You are indeed being our God. There is nobody like you, God, and so I thank you. I thank you, God, that you were there in the beginning. I thank you for the love that you have for us. I thank you, God, that suddenly, oh God, every wall is going to begin to break in her life.
Every wall between her and complete healing. Every wall between her and completely receiving your love. Every wall between her and the miracles of God, which come by faith. Lord, I thank you, God, that all of these walls are coming down under the weight of your great love. Thank you, Lord God, that her transformed mind, her renewed heart, Lord God, and her changed life is rooted in your love.
Thank you, Lord God, for loving her. Thank you for keeping her. Thank you for the peace of God that surpasses all understanding. When we keep our minds stayed on you, Christ Jesus. I thank you, Lord God, that the heart is shifting. The mind is shifting. The very room she is in is shifting because Lord God, she’s beginning to receive that despite what has happened in her life, despite every trial, and despite everything that she’s walked through that you have ordered her steps and she is loved. I thank you, Lord, and I pray in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
