Slow down, breathe, receive the blessings of our King. All of the earth is His creation. All of the earth speaks to the glory of God. Often, the world is so busy, our schedules so full, and the to-do list so long, that taking the time to be still and to observe the goodness of God and his majesty is difficult.

It’s not always at the top of the list. There are things to do, there are things to take care of, you have a family, and you have responsibilities. Through all of this, there is a grace in the glory that is surrounding us through creation. Through the wind, the rains, through the trees, and through the morning dew. There is a glory in nature and all of creation that shows us the power of God.

It shows us that God is real. It speaks of His glory. Here in the cornerstone scripture, in the book of Job, we see that Job is speaking to his friends and in response to one of his friends condemning him using theology and using the power of God to claim that if Job was innocent, then he wouldn’t be dealing with all of this pain and all of this warfare.

Job responds to his friend with these words, But speak to the beast that they shall teach thee, and the fowl to the air that they will tell you. Speak to the earth and it will be a teacher as well. All of these things are what God created because he willed it. And so Job is stating that God will do what He will, that the earth speaks of his majesty and speaks of his power and speaks of his sovereignty.

He is God, and there didn’t need to be a reason that Job was enduring the pain. He believed that God was God and that that was that. Job responded with something so simple as to say, while you’re claiming there must be a reason that I’m enduring this, there needs to be no reason that this is happening to me. Just like there’s no reason that the fishes of the sea and the earth and the fowls of the air and the beasts all exist. It’s because he created it. That’s the only reason; because God willed it.
