Today’s Devotional Scripture: 14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. - 2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV

When life seems overwhelming, and there are so many things that you’re fighting at one time, it’s difficult to be focused. It’s difficult to be still. When everything in you wants to address the issue, everything in you wants to fix the problem, you want to be able to put your hands to it and see it resolved. Our nature is to solve problems.

We desire to create solutions, but there are seasons and times where the thing that we’re building, the solutions that we’re seeking, the answers are bigger than us. There are times and seasons when you absolutely require to sit before the Lord. It is required for you to get with Him to get an answer. It is an answer that comes from the Lord.

It is a solution that comes from God. In these times of pressing and trial, praying and fasting in the name of Jesus, help to break the yoke. Turning down your plate invites God into your situation through the power of fasting and prayer. In scripture, it was Jesus who said, when the disciples did not know why they could not heal the boy, why they could not deliver him. It was Jesus who said in Matthew 17:21:

21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. - Matthew 17:21 KJV

So as Matthew 17:21 shows us, there are some things that you will need to go to God for. These things will have roots. They will have spiritual strongholds. They will be rooted in subconscious generational patterns, and these things can be broken through prayer and fasting.

These things can be revealed through prayer and fasting. So even though we are coming before the Lord with needs, when we decide to turn to God, we are seeking the faith of God. We’re seeking the glory of the Lord. We’re seeking revelation from God. We’re seeking understanding from God. We’re turning to Him.

  • We’re letting go of everything that was.

  • We’re letting go of our pride.

  • We’re letting go of doing things on our own.

  • We’re letting go of having to figure it out the best we can.

And we surrender the fact that maybe, just maybe, there are some things that are greater than us. There are some issues that are beyond our capacity.

God is greater.
