So often hope is viewed as this ethereal, external emotion or feeling, and the power of hope and who God is, is missed in it. Hope is not merely an emotion or a feeling that comes from outside of you. Hope is a part of our daily walk. Hope is a part of the very identity of God. Hope is the thing that we can trust in when we understand that hope is a part of the identity in the fabric of Jesus Christ.
Our hope should not be in the things of this world. Our hope should not be in the systems of this world. All these things will fade away and the Lord will still remain. Through all of the growth in society, the changes that we have witnessed happened in culture, in finances, and in systems, God is still God through all of it. He is still able through all of it. God is still making ways through all of it.
When those systems fail, when those doors close, we don't turn to another man or another system or another thing that we create with our own hands. We turn to the Creator. We turn to the One who has ushered in our salvation with the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ. We turn to the God who created all things, the entire earth, and the fullness thereof.
We turn to the God that shifted mountains, that brought the Egyptians to their knees, and brought deliverance to the Israelites. We speak to that God who opened up oceans before His people so that they could walk across on dry land. This is who we turn to, the God of hope, and the scripture here clearly shares that He can fill us with joy and peace.
That we can let go of everything and every weight and every situation where God is not being magnified. We can let go of old belief patterns. We can release old preconceived notions, and we can step fully into this moment with God. The Holy Ghost empowers us to see the fullness of the Word through our walk with Jesus Christ.
It is the Holy Spirit, the teacher, the guide that shows us all things. When we begin to walk with the Lord fully and trust in Him completely, our hope is now shifted. It is shifted from the world. It is shifted from people and their approval, and our hope is now squarely rooted in the God that is able, who is more than able, to shift and to transform our lives. Hebrews 11:1 is a powerful scripture on faith. And it states,
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. - Hebrews 11:1 KJV
”The substance of things hoped for” is the very indication that our hope is not in the things but in the one who opens up and brings revelation to our everyday lives. Faith literally becomes an act, not a noun. And it becomes a way of being, not just something we do every now and then. Faith becomes a lifestyle:
rooted in the hope that He is God,
rooted in the hope that He is able,
rooted in the hope of Christ Jesus,
Jesus is the one who laid His life on the cross by choice, not by force. No man took His life. He freely gave it. In John chapter 10:8 in the King James Version, it states,
No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
So Jesus is telling us here in John chapter 10:18, that He willingly gives up His life for you and for me. That He willingly sacrificed Himself so that we could be reconciled back to the Father, back to our relationship, and back to the truth of who we are in God. The rift was sealed with the sacrifice, so that we no longer had to do things outside of us.
We no longer had to sacrifice animals and goats. Jesus became the sacrifice so that our hope was not in how much we could do, but our hope now is in who we believe in. It is in Jesus Christ now versus before. So that hope shifting from doing things, and cutting things down, and hoping that it’s enough, becomes less works, and more trust and submission to the sovereignty of God.
It becomes an act of will internally instead of an act of sacrifice externally. Our hope is no longer in the things of this world. Our hope is no longer inside of the systems. Our hope is no longer inside of our works. It is in the Holy Spirit, it is in the empowerment of that Spirit, that we can see exceedingly abundantly above, as it states in Ephesians 3:20.
God is able to do what He said he would do. Our job is to believe Him. Our job is to say yes. Our job is to submit unto the Lord, and to the favor thereof, and to trust in him. To not be distracted by the things of this world. Casting down every weight, placing our burdens before the Lord, and placing our hearts and our hope in Him and his ability to restore us. To keep us and to guide us.
God is more than able and he will supply all of our needs according to his riches and glory. Take time today to place your hope in Christ Jesus. Take time today to be still and recognize that he is God. And he is God alone. There is nobody like him.
There is no one that can stand against him. Our hope is in this God. Our hope is in the King of glory. And when we place it here, according to His word, when we place our trust in God, the God of hope will fill us with all joy and peace in our belief. That we may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Ghost.
Closing Devotional Prayer
My pray for you: Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank you. I thank you for the mighty woman of God. I thank you, God, for the Daily Devotion for Women Community. I thank you to each and every woman that is getting this Sunday devotional. That the wall would come down, God and that you will begin to see afresh and anew.
That the weight of this world is being broken. That we can cast our cares upon you as it states in Matthew chapter 11:28 -30. We can cast our cares upon you because you care for us. Thank you, O God, for caring for us. Thank you, God, that your yoke and your burden is light. It is easy. It is not heavy. It is not stressful.
I thank you, Lord, God, that we can trust in you completely. That you are the rock of the ages, God. We can stand on your word. We can trust in the sovereignty and the majesty of who you are, Christ Jesus. God, the Father, God, the Son, and God, the Holy Spirit. Thank you, Lord, God. Thank you for this shift.
Thank you for the empowerment. Thank you for the grace and the glory. Thank you, God, as we approach the end of this devotional that the mighty woman of God will be empowered by your spirit. That as the prayer goes forth and as this devotional comes to an end, that her hope in you, O God, will be ignited.
That you will bring back to her remembrance, God, all of the old things. Dreams, vision, God. We're praying for those things to be lined up supernaturally. That, Lord, God, these dry bones will live. That our dreams that have been buried, that have been cast to the side, that we're going to go and we're going to pick those up, O God.
That you're going to revive our dreams, revive the vision, O God, and bring forth a shift now that we would see it. For you are our hope, God. Outside of you, what can we do, God? Apart from you, we can do nothing. So thank you, Holy Ghost. Thank you for the shift. I thank you for the pour. I thank you, Lord, and I pray in Jesus' mighty name. Amen.
