The Message For Today (November 27, 2024):
Audio Version Of This Devotional: Grace Becomes Her Audio
The message for today is all about grace. The grace that God releases upon the believer in order to be lifted, to walk out things in the earth, and to see their lives change by faith. Anything that requires you to grow and develop, overcome, and walk with God requires grace. Grace is described as the unmerited favor of God. But there is a different understanding of grace as it comes to Scripture.
Here in Ephesians, we see that works alone are not enough. That we can walk, we can build, we can do, we can run, we can make things work in our own strength. But grace is through faith. It's through what we receive as being the blessing of the Lord. When we step fully into receiving grace, what we are receiving is the empowerment of the Spirit. The first indication of this can be found in Zechariah chapter 4:6-7. And when you read Zechariah chapter 4 verse 6 through 7 in the King James Version, it reads,
6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.
7 Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it. - Zechariah 4:6-7
As we can see here in Zechariah verse 7, grace, grace unto it is also the empowerment of God. It is what Zerubbabel will say when he has victory over obstacles, victory over mountains, deliverance past barriers and strongholds. So, it's not just unmerited favor, it's the outpouring of God's Spirit that you may walk through the earth and see the victory over every trial and fiery circumstance.
Grace is the empowerment of God's Spirit, not just unmerited favor, it is the outpouring of it is a tangible thing. So, when it says “for by grace, you are saved by faith”, yes, you must receive the grace of God has already paid the cost for you so that you are saved through faith. Yes, but we also see here as evidence in Zechariah and other scriptures throughout the Bible that grace is also the empowerment of the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of the living God that we may see things move.
The grace of God comes with movement.
It comes in the midst of circumstances and it comes when God pours out His Spirit that grace then becomes the outcome that we see. We see people empowered to run. We see the grace of God cover many to overcome physical barriers of age and weight and we see grace that breaks through all manner of strongholds. So, grace is the empowerment of the Holy Spirit so that you can break through exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.
When you go to Ephesians chapter 3 verse 20 through 21 in the King James Version, you see yet another demonstration of that Spirit and what happens when the Spirit of the living God comes and blesses you. So, in Ephesians chapter 3 verse 20 through 21 it reads,
20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. - Ephesians 3:20-21 KJV
So, as we finish those two verses at the end of Ephesians chapter 3, we see that it's the power at work within us that's the grace of God by His Spirit that empowers us to walk things out so that God can do with us what he said he would do. Grace is a determining factor in your life. It is by grace that you are saved through faith but it is also by grace that you overcome and that you run on in the things of God.
It's by God's grace that we see things move in our lives. Grace is a part of your development. It is a part of who you become and how you become and the level of your faith combined with the grace (the empowerment of the Holy Spirit) is what accomplishes manifestation. It's what brings forth good fruit. It's what empowers you to move. It is a forward-moving determining factor.
Grace becomes you. It develops you. It strengthens you.
It's the grace of God that when you realize it's not just by works alone, not just your own strength, that God can come in and begin to move things around. He can empower you. He can strengthen you. He can help you to finish. Maybe, just maybe, if there's many things that you started and stopped and many unfinished ideas in your past, maybe, just maybe, what is necessary and needful is for you to pray for the grace to finish.
For the grace to keep going.
For the grace to overcome.
For the grace to see the fullness of the Word of the Lord in the land of the living.
It is by grace. Too many do not accomplish all that God has for them to accomplish because they don't know how to receive and come into agreement with the grace that has already been released through the death, the burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. There's a grace upon the believer. We see that in Acts chapter 2, that when Jesus instructs them to gather in Acts chapter 2 in the King James Version. When you read through that chapter, they're all gathered together in the upper room and then the Holy Spirit sweeps in and their cloven tongues of fire is the result that we see.
They're filled with the Holy Ghost and begin to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. By grace, the outpouring of the Holy Ghost, The Holy Spirit gave them utterance. The Holy Ghost and the Holy Spirit and the Spirit are all synonymous here. So in verse 4 of Acts chapter 2, it says,
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. - Acts 2:4 KJV
Grace. When you get near to the end of that chapter, you see that they start to preach and as they start to preach and they start to speak as empowered by the Holy Spirit In Acts chapter 2 verse 41, you see that there was great impact that came by that outpouring of the Spirit. It says in Acts, Chapter 2 verse 41:
41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. - Acts 2:41 KJV
So the grace that we see come forth in the beginning of Acts chapter 2 by the end of the chapter produced an expansion in the kingdom of 3,000 souls. There is no limits about what can happen with you and through your life when you receive the grace of God. That it is not by works alone. It is not by might nor by skill nor by all of your connections and power. That's not what's happening here.
It is by the power of the Holy Spirit alone that you grow, that we become, and that all things are made new including you. Grace becomes you.
