Today’s Devotional Scripture: 16 And he said, Thus saith the Lord, Make this valley full of ditches.

17 For thus saith the Lord, Ye shall not see wind, neither shall ye see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, that ye may drink, both ye, and your cattle, and your beasts. - 2 Kings 3:16-17 KJV

3 Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. - 2 Kings 4:3 KJV

Faith in motion is how we move and expand the kingdom. Your faith is how you please God. Your faith is how you tap into the goodness of God through prayer, through fasting, through praise, through worship, through believing in your heart that he is God alone and operating your life in a way that leans completely on God and not on your own understanding.

In these two cornerstone scriptures, we see that prophets are speaking to the people of God, one to several kings and the army that was with them, and the other to a young mother, a mother with two sons. And this mother’s two sons were being conscripted essentially into bondsman to pay for their father’s debt as their father passed away.

So we see these scriptures, and we see incredibly difficult situations. We see the army that has not had water to drink for seven days, and the mother who was terrified that her sons would be taken to pay off their father’s debt. And we see them turn to the prophets. We see them turn to the Lord.

As they turn to the Lord, they are given instructions. They’re given instructions that are predicated not on their understanding, but on their mere obedience.

How is water gonna come? How will there be water if there’s no wind and no rain? Why am I gathering vessels when I don’t have a lot of anything? All I have is a little bit of oil. Why am I gathering so many vessels?
