So often, it is hard to see how your current actions are going to pay off. When following the natural course of life through grade school, college, and pursuing an education, it’s easy to see that the outcome is a job in your field, having the expertise, having the credentials and the qualifications to do the work you’re called to.
But in everyday life, in the choices we make and the things that we choose to endure, it can be difficult to see how valuable it is to stick with something, to see if it’s really worth it, to fight for it. Beyond the circumstances and above the noise, fighting the good fight of faith is literally sight unseen, based solely on trusting in God.
That is the challenge of being a believer.
When you walk with the Lord, it is imperative that you turn when He says turn, that you go when He says go, and that you rest when He says rest. Building when He says build is greater than sacrifice.
The obedience of walking with God, despite not knowing where it’s going, not knowing what the payoff is going to be, not knowing how it’s all going to work out, and not knowing if this is a colossal waste of time or not. That is what faith is.
That is what is required. That is essential. Faith is not doing the thing that you know is going to work. Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Evidence based on who God is, evidence based on your faith in His word, and evidence based on the fact that even though you do not see it in the natural, you believe it and you receive it in your heart.
You operate in living faith.
You walk out the instructions that you are led to do with the Lord, and you believe in your heart that it will work, that there is an outcome, that God desires to bless you, to keep you in all of your ways. You must truly see God as a good, good Father.
This journey, being worth the fight, takes a level of maturity by faith that many find it difficult to walk into. To graduate from knowing that you have control and knowing that you can make it happen, to stepping fully into hope, sight unseen, and working out the measure of the faith that God has given you every single day. That is faith.
That is what faith is.
That is the fight that is worth fighting. It is the cultivation of your faith, which the Lord says is more precious than of gold. In 1 Peter 1:7, the word describes that your trials and your testing are there, that you may be “found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.”
This is all about your walk with God, all about the relationship you have with the Lord, sight unseen for eternity, believing that He is the I Am that I Am, believing that even though it is hard in this moment, it is worth it to finish and to hold fast to the confession of your faith.
It is worth it to believe that there is a God, that He is waiting, that He is with you, that He is able to do what He said that He would do, that He is like a good, good Father and a friend who sits closer than a brother.
That is the fight worth fighting.
That is the journey worth stepping into. That is worth getting in the ring and putting on the gloves and saying yes to doing it again, to believing Him again and to trusting that all things are being made new.
God has the final say, and He loves you. He has the final say, and He is guiding you. He is more than enough. The relationship is worth the fight. The growth as a believer is worth the fight. The trying of your faith, which work is patience, is worth the fight.
Closing Devotional Prayer
My prayer for you,
Father, in the name of Jesus, thank you. Thank you, Lord, that your mercies are made new every morning. Thank you for the grace and the glory of God.
Lord, you are good, and your mercy endures forever. I thank you, Lord God, that everything is not like it was breaking and that the mighty woman of God is stepping into faith. She’s stepping into the fight of her life, pressing towards the prize of the mark of the high calling in Christ Jesus.
She is laying hands to, and she is laying hold of the crown that no man can take from her. So, Lord, I thank you that the mighty woman of God is covered. I thank you for divine release, and I thank you, O God, that the woman of God is free. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen.
