There is a way that things right to a man, and the end thereof is death (Proverbs 14:12 KJV). That scripture in the Bible shows us that even though we think that we’re doing the right thing, and even though we think that we’re being honorable, many times we are unintentionally stepping into a path that ends in death.
It may seem right to us. It may seem like the logical thing to do. It may make sense with everything that we understand and know about a situation, but it can still be the ends thereof equaling death. The reason for this is because our ways are rooted in the finite understanding that we have of the world and everything in it. Our understanding is limited to our humanity.
It is limited to what we know and what we don’t know. It is limited by the fact that we are not infinite beings. We are finite. We are created by the Lord and given breath. We are built for his glory, but we have short lifespans of under 150 years. We have short lifespans that don’t extend millennia.
But the Lord our God is infinite. So many times when we are on these paths of life, assuming that we’re doing the right thing and assuming that what we’re doing is logical, it’s easy to see how some of those things begin to unravel, how we start and stop in these paths, how we are often trying to get through the next step in it, how we’re overcoming or not overcoming the principalities and our forces by the way that we show up and by the way that we pray, by the way that we move.
