It’s odd to think that moving ahead of God or moving without explicitly turning to God for the timing of a thing could be a measure of pride. But here we see that when we are waiting on God to do a thing and wishing that it could happen sooner or hoping and praying that it could happen sooner, we are inherently not trusting that it’s already finished, whether or not we can control the timing.
So our cornerstone scripture says to “humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God”. Could it be that God knows the timing and he knows the plans? He knows the end from the beginning? Yes, his ways are indeed higher than our ways, his thoughts higher than our thoughts, and the timing of God beyond even our own understanding.
This does not mean we cannot trust in Him. It means that we cannot control the outcome. It’s a humility to wait under the mighty hand of God, that the growth and the peace and the increase and the breakthrough that we’re praying for will happen in due time.
I love the scripture which says in Galatians, to grow not weary in well-doing, for in due season you will reap a harvest if you faint not (Galatians 6:9 KJV). We love it. And that is from an angle of encouragement to empower you not to give up.
But this one is different.
