Today’s Devotional Scripture: 15 And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.
16 To morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel.
17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you.
- 2 Chronicles 20:15-17 KJV
The Message For Today (October 21, 2024):
Audio Version Of This Devotional: This Isn't Yours Audio
Today's devotional scripture is all about tapping into the power of shift, change, and transformation right now. It's about stepping before the Lord in prayer and letting go of everything that is not yours. We see in this scripture that as King Jehoshaphat, Judah, and Jerusalem are surrounded by the enemy.
They go into prayer. As they begin to pray the Lord speaks to a man of God and he speaks the word of the Lord saying don't be afraid for this battle is not yours. As he releases this He gives specific instructions to the children of Israel to overcome the weight of the enemy surrounding them.
He tells them what's gonna happen, how it's gonna happen and that slaking their thirst is only a small thing. How many times have you gone before the Lord praying for the small thing, afraid to ask for full victory, afraid to expect that this could be the season that every old thing ends and because of that weight, you begin to operate in just enough. You begin to hide yourself inside of consistency, habits, and patterns.
But the Lord is saying “Harken ye,” pay attention: the battle was never yours. A lot of the ways that you're caring for yourself, for others: This isn't yours. That weight that the enemy desires for you to take on and make your own is not the will of the Father towards you.
It is not God's heart that you would take on everyone's weight and that you will just be a baggage lady not just for yourself but for others. But this is what the world expects. This is what society expects especially if you are a wife or have children. Society fully expects that you're meant to war on your own, that you meant to fight this battle by yourself, and that you are made to be single and or alone.
The way that things have gone forth in the world that the agenda is set has distracted us from the power of the one thing, the first thing that God created. For us was Adam and then Eve. The connection between man and woman. The relationship that God always designed. He literally has put men and women in the earth for each other and the enemy wants to strip that from you so you begin to fight on your own and so you operate in survival.
As a result, you know the taste of survival and freedom and overcoming and overcoming and overcoming so much so that you become addicted to victory in the sight of the Lord but never to the peace that God has for you. You must decide in this season to let God fight this battle. It doesn't mean that you don't show up as we see in 2nd Chronicles chapter 20:15-17. They still needed to show up.
They showed up with worship.
They showed up with praise.
When you continue on in the chapter you see that they gathered all the worshiping men and as they gathered all the worshiping men the men were called to pray. They were called to come together and they were called to worship and to tear down the walls and to move. They were called to go out and to sing. These fighting men with swords and spirit were advised by the Holy Spirit that this battle was not theirs.
So they did not use carnal weapons or try to fix things on their own. They went forth in prayer and we see it turning in 2nd Chronicles, Chapter 20 we see where the battle begins to turn because the Lord sets ambushments against the enemies of the children of Israel. One enemy turns on another they kill each other, then the two that remain begin to kill each other. So by the time Jehoshaphat and the worshiping men of Judah and Jerusalem came forth, there was not one that escaped the ambushments of the Lord.
There was not one that escaped the will of the Father to see complete victory for his children. There was not one that escaped and the spoils were so plenty that it took days of them going inside of the enemy camp and removing everything that belonged to them that was valuable because these were the spoils of war. But they never fought the battle they just showed up and worshiped God.
There may be spoils of war on the other side of your worship. There may be a grace and a glory for liberty on the other side of your praise. What are the weapons of your warfare that are not carnal but mighty through God for you? Is it dancing, is it worship, is it prayer and fasting? It is time to step into that fully, to war a little differently, to put down the weight of yesterday. and allow the Holy Spirit to show you a new way.
Allow God to break down every barrier and every wall. Allow Him to fight your battles while you sit pray and do what the Lord is instructing you to do. Outside of what you feel you need to do, there is another level of commitment in this season and the commitment is in something speaking to the rock instead of striking it. This is a season to cross over, to walk into the fullness of God, to see that the fullness of the Word of the Lord in your life, and to come into the divine alignment of what God is called for you by faith not by sight.
This is not yours. This battle, this fight, the energy that you're investing in trying to overcome this wall? This was not yours. There is something that is yours. Get back to that. Get back to that peace that surpasses understanding. Get back to doing the work and the marketing and the growing and the writing and the living and the loving that God has called you to.
He's giving you a thumbprint and for that thumbprint, he has made a match.
He's giving you an assignment and for that assignment, there are people to serve.
He's giving you the ability to obtain wealth and for that he's giving you people that you can exchange your gifts, your skills, and talents with into the marketplace.
The Lord doesn't just say you have power, He equips you to do it. But it takes faith. You cannot fight one battle and continue fighting the battle while doing what God is calling you to do in terms of overcoming, rising, and doing the work.
This is a decision: choose ye this day who you will serve. Will it be the voice of the world, the conformed thought pattern of the world, or would it be the transformed mind that knows in her heart that with man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26 KJV). It is your choice to let go. But whether or not you do, just remember this isn't yours.
Closing Devotional Prayer
My prayer for you: Father in the name of Jesus, I thank you. I thank you for the outpouring of your spirit. I thank you for the grace and the glory. God, you are Alpha and Omega, the beginning andf the end. There is nobody like you God.
There's nobody above you Lord. You are El Shaddai. You are the King of Glory. You know what you desire from her. You know what she struggles with. So Lord, I thank you for the grace and the glory. I thank you for the fire. I thank you for the shift. I thank you God for the outpouring, for Lord you are making way for her.
You are lifting her up Oh God. So I thank you God on this beautiful day as she begins to go forth that you remind her Oh God that you are with her. Give her the words to speak God, to sing. Give her the words. Encourage the mighty woman of God by your spirit Lord. Lord, you've given us a spirit of power and of love and of a sound mind.
So I thank you for soundness of mind and purpose. I thank you for a made-up mind. God, this day: I thank you for the glory in the peace that surpasses all understanding. I thank you Lord and I pray in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
