From young, we’ve been taught to have our five‑year, our ten‑year, and our fifteen‑year plan. We were trained from our youth to know what we wanted to be when we grew up. But as we grew older, it was easy to see that life was never really that simple.
Every step was always a journey of discovery, of growth, of knowing what we loved and what we absolutely despised. Step by step, the woman you became to be happened over time. A lifetime of giving God the glory, a lifetime of making mistakes, a lifetime of finding your way.
And at the end, you found yourself where you are now, knowing beyond the shadow of a doubt that you love God, that you choose to follow God, that your mission is to pursue him. Regardless of what has happened in your life, the priorities have changed. Who you are now as a woman is completely different. And it didn’t happen all overnight.
It happened one step at a time.
It’s easy to forget now more than ever that God is a very present help in the time of trouble. He is a good God. He is faithful. He guides our steps. He knows the end from the beginning, and He knows the plans that He has for us, to give us a future and a hope.
So why are we worried about tomorrow? Why are we worried about what’s going to happen or whether or not something will work? Through all of it, God is still God. Through all of life’s issues, through our circumstances, He is unchanging. He is our strong tower, our great defense. He knows what He’s doing.
And still we worry, and we overthink, and we are anxious, and we’re concerned if we’re doing the right thing at the right time, are we walking in the right direction, whether we know the whole plan, or whether we know the very next step? God has not changed. He is still God alone. He’s still El Shaddai. He’s still El Roi, the God who sees. Nothing changed, but maybe you. And praise God, you can change again.
Step by step, forgetting those things which are behind, we press forth towards the prize of the mark of the high calling in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:13-14 KJV). Letting go of yesterday, we can begin to make a new way from this moment if we will trust God, if we will embrace this very moment as the beginning of the best years of our lives. This is the moment that life begins to turn around, because you realized it was never about life being perfect or about you always having “the plan”.
It was about you receiving in your heart that God was always with you, that He was there with you in the moment, creating, building, flowing, growing. In all things, the Lord has been with you through every growth spurt, through every pain, through every bit of frustration, and through every regret. God is there. He will never leave you nor forsake you.
So maybe it’s time that we stop believing the lies and we stop forsaking, and we look to our God for the very next step.
Closing Devotional Prayer
My prayer for you:
Father, in the name of Jesus. Thank you. Thank you, Lord God, for being a keeper. Thank you right now, God, that your love remains. Thank you for breaking every wall, every stronghold, Lord. Thank you for bringing it back around the way that you desire. Not by might, not by power, Lord, but we know that we have victory by your Spirit.
I thank you that the mighty woman of God is covered this morning. May the grace and glory of God go before her, and may every weight come down. For, Lord, you are good and your mercy endureth forever. I thank you, Lord, and I pray in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
PS: This is one of the SHORTEST devotionals ever written for this ministry, but I was not going to allow another morning to pass without getting the 6 am devotional out. The enemy can take you off track but he doesn’t have the power to keep you there. - Be blessed! xoxoLivi
