Today’s Devotional Scripture: 15 And the angel of the Lord called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,
16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:
17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice. - Genesis 22:15-18 KJV

When looking at your life and looking at the conditions that you’re facing right here and right now, ask yourself, do you feel as if you are walking in 100% Holy Spirit-backed faith? Do you feel as if you’re walking in mind-blowing faith that produces day in and day out a new heart, a new spirit, a shift in your home, a shift in your community?
Do you feel you are operating as the seed of Abraham? For most of us, unfortunately, this is not the case. But it can be. You are who you are. You are the seed of Abraham. You are the sons and daughters. Your children are the sons and daughters. In your marriage, you are the son and the daughter of Abraham. Faith that defies logic, that casts down all imagination, and that trusts God beyond anything you can see is what produces the miracles.
In addition to seeing those miracles, we also know that the blessing comes when you are faithful, full of faith. The blessing comes when you are walking with God with no limitations based on your own understanding. When you’re walking with God, it is He who makes the crooked ways straight. When you’re moving with God, there is no overthinking, there are no delays. When you’re walking with God, everything is intentional.
Your waiting times are intentional.
Your acceleration times are intentional.
Your relationships are intentional.
Who is walking with you and who is not is intentional.
How you decide to approach a task is intentional.
It’s either in your own understanding and by your own might, or it is through God, through prayer, through fasting, and through the weapons of our warfare, that things are changing, walls are coming down, and strongholds are coming down. Every high thing that exhausts itself against the knowledge of God comes down when we walk with God. In the Cornerstone Scripture, Abraham was called out of heaven.
We see in Genesis 22, where the Lord wakes up Abraham, and Abraham says, “Here I am, Lord”. He does exactly what God tells him to do. He’s swinging down this sword that’s going to kill Isaac. And the angel of the Lord speaks from heaven and tells him, No, don’t do it. The angel of the Lord says, Now we know that you fear the Lord. So this entire temptation was a test. We see in Genesis 22:1 that it says:
And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. - Genesis 22:1 KJV
So this entire thing, this temptation of God, was a test of Abraham’s faith. It may have felt like he was betraying his son. It may have felt like he was saying goodbye. It may have felt like it was the end of the vision, and God changed his mind. It may have felt like this, but really, this temptation was a test. Abraham passed the test through sheer obedience, and the angel of the Lord said in Genesis 22:12:
12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. - Genesis 22:12 KJV
When that angel spoke from heaven and Abraham turned around, he saw a ram in the bush. That is the miracle many are looking for when we’re praying for the God of Abraham to be there and to move on our behalf. We’re praying for the ram and the bush. We’re praying that this faith-filled action that we’ve taken is going to result in a miracle.
We’re praying that as we come before Him, as we fast, as we lay on our faces before Him, that our marriages return around, that our children will return back to Christ, that our finances will line up, and that some way, somehow God will make a way out of no way. He will provide the ram and the bush. But we start at verse 15 for a reason here. We start at verse 15 because being the seed of Abraham is not just about looking for the miracle. It’s not just about praying for the situation to turn around.
Being the seed of Abraham is an identity that comes with a holy promise, a covenant from God. It is a part of your DNA, and we’re going to explore that today.
So we see in verse 16 where it says:
16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:
17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; - Genesis 22:16-17 KJV
We are the seed of Abraham. That means that we should be possessing the gate of our enemies. Your enemies are not flesh and blood in this season. The gates of your enemies here and now are the financial barriers, the generational strongholds, the mindset issues, and the never having the ability to do a thing.
The generations, from generation to generation, of limitations that are baked into life circumstances. The child being an alcoholic if the father was an alcoholic, the daughter moving a certain way if the mother moved a certain way. Generational strongholds. Generational issues that flow down. These are the things that you have the ability to overcome as you possess the gate of your enemies.
God has promised that this will be something that we’d have the capacity to do, to overcome every wall, to tear down every stronghold. And that through us, the nations of the earth would be blessed because our father Abraham, the father of our faith, the father Abraham, obeyed the voice of the Lord. And the story, of course, is the foreshadowing of our Father in heaven giving the life of Jesus Christ that we may live and be reconciled back to God.
It is indeed a foreshadowing. As the Lord said, thine son, thine only son, Ishmael was also a son. But this was not about the sons that were created through his own will. This was about the son that God promised. The promised son, as Jesus was our promised Messiah. When looking at your life from this point forward, remember that you are the seed of Abraham and that there is a covenant promise of you possessing the gates of your enemies.
And that the nations will be blessed through you and through me. Because Abraham obeyed the voice of God. You are the seed of Abraham, and the moment you receive that identity, the moment you come into the knowledge of Christ by his Holy Spirit of who you are, things begin to move. Your marriage begins to mend. Hearts begin to change. Your mind begins to be transformed and all things are made new through His word.
Not through your own will and strength. We are human. We were never meant to walk this walk in our own strength. We were never meant to do things on the comfortable or easy setting. We were meant to walk with God through fire-forged faith. The scripture tells us that the testing of your faith is more precious than gold.
So the fire that you’re enduring, the obstacles that you’re growing through, and the limitations that you face are not just limitations; these are tests. These tests, one after another, forge you. They grow you. They develop you. They strengthen you. And they make it to where your faith becomes strong. It grows as a mustard seed, prolific as a mustard seed, aggressive in your growth, aggressive and overtaking everything else. Because that is what a mustard seed was.
It was not about the size of the seed. It was about the strength of the growth process. That’s the mustard seed that God speaks of in scripture. When we look at scripture, we look at 1 Peter 1:7, which states:
7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: - 1 Peter 1:7 KJV
Your faith is that precious. Your faith is that essential. Your faith is literally constantly being tested. And many times, instead of fighting that battle, we kind of just walk through things, and we pray that it all works out. But that kind of faith that does what the Lord is guiding you to do, putting your hopes, your dreams, the promises right there before God, giving it back to Him, and trusting that there just won’t be a miracle, but there’ll be a blessing attached to it.
That God just won’t provide a ram in the bush, He’s going to rain down and bless, giving you the ability to overcome the gates of your enemies, giving you the ability to bless others through your faith. You are the seed of Abraham. Come into the knowledge of it. Receive that in your heart. Break down every wall and receive that God has the final say.
He is the Lord our God, the King of glory, and the great I Am. And when you come into Him, when you receive that Jesus is divine and we are the branches, and you know that with God all things are possible, we can begin to see the working of miracles. We can begin to see the rams in the bush. What if Abraham had never decided to follow God?
If he decided that going up that mountain wasn’t worth losing his child, if he decided that maybe God didn’t know the right timing, or maybe it wasn’t time now, maybe it’s time next year. Would he have experienced Jehovah Jireh? Would we know the God who provides? Would we know it? And would we be operating now in the capacity to overcome every enemy, to break every chain, and to watch the shackles come off as we break free?
Would that be possible if Abraham didn’t believe?
Closing Devotional Prayer
My prayer for you: Father, in the name of Jesus, thank you. Thank you that the mighty woman of God is saying yes, God. Thank you, God, that the word of the Lord is going forth, O God, as a reminder of who we are in you, Christ Jesus. We are your sons and your daughters, O God. We are the seed of Abraham.
Lord God, I thank you, God, for the promises of God, which are yes and amen. Thank you, O God, for this word, this message, this day. Lord, I thank you, O God, that as we go into the final sprint towards the end of the year, the blessing of the Lord would make rich and add no sorrow. I pray that there will be an outpouring of your spirit, God, that everything, O God, that’s not like you would break, and that this year would end far better, far greater than it began.
For you are our God, and besides you, there is no other. I thank you, God, for the daily devotion of a woman and community, both free and paid. I thank you, O God, for you being the solid rock, the rock of the ages. Have your way, King of glory. Tear down every wall, God. Shift, O God, the mighty woman of God. Open up her heart, O God. Open it up, God, that she may believe again, that she may receive again, and as you told Jairus in scripture, that she would only believe.
We’re not looking at situations that look dead, and we’re not accepting that, God. We’re speaking life, O God, into dead situations, God. We’re speaking life, and we’re only believing, for you are the Lord our God. Lord God, let us speak this thing, O God, with power over every situation, God, that seems stagnant, that seems hopeless, that God, with God, with man, this may be impossible, but with you, O God, all things are possible.
I thank you, Lord God, for being the sovereign rock. I thank you, O God, for being the rock of the ages, for everlasting, the everlasting. You are God alone. I thank you, Lord, and I pray in Jesus’ mighty name, amen.
