7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,

8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. - Matthew 15:7-8 KJV

7 But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.

Today, you can see how the appearance of success is so important. The appearance that protects your reputation is key. People curate entire identities that support who they believe they are because they want the world to see them as that brand, as that person. But truly, behind the mask, behind the beautiful social media photos, behind the picture-perfect Christmas cards, we have hearts, and those hearts need Jesus.

When we go day to day without establishing a strong baseline in relationship, we find that the heart can stray. And when the heart strays, it begins to touch everything. It begins to test your faith. It begins to test your discipline when your heart is not centered and when your heart is speaking something different than your actions are stating.

So often you hear the term to not believe what people say, but to believe what they do. And to a certain degree, that is correct. We want to see the evidence. We want to see the promises of God. We want to see things line up. We desire to see it. But when it doesn’t line up, when you begin to wonder why certain actions are not producing. It’s because the fruit is being produced from the heart, not just from the actions.

Works without faith cannot work. Work without faith causes the weight to be on you to carry it all, to carry the burdens, to carry the children, to carry the family, and to carry the finances. And the less your heart is rooted in Christ, the deeper that heart flows away from Him into the god of self, the idol of self.

The heart speaks, and understanding the language of your heart and how it speaks beat after beat after beat, not just in the natural, but also in the spirit, how it’s the seat of your emotional health, it’s the seat of your emotions, the ability to feel gratitude and love for situations is, of course, the heart.
