50 And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.
51 And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,
52 And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him. - Luke 9:49-52 KJV

If it seems like you don’t quite fit, and that you don’t always know exactly what you’re doing, then you may just be where God has called you to be. To feel like an outcast, to feel overlooked, and to feel as if you’re out there alone is often the testimony of many believers throughout generations, who God has used mightily to affect change, to shift the trajectory of their family’s life, to raise up a standard.
God is no respecter of persons (Romans 2:11 KJV). He blesses and reigns over the just and the unjust, for he is God alone (Matthew 5:45 KJV). And we see here in Luke 9, that there is one who was moving around in the name of Jesus, and casting out devils. Not trying to cast out, casting out is what the disciples say in verse 49. That means that this person was successfully, in the name of Jesus, casting out devils.
But John and the other disciples forbade him, because he was not one that walked with Jesus as a disciple. And Jesus gives a beautiful demonstration of what He desires for each of us. He said, “Forbid him not, for he that is not against us is for us”. When Jesus said these words, He made it clear that one did not have to be a disciple of Jesus Christ in order to be effectively used by Jesus Christ. We see that God has used a donkey. We see that God has used a person who was hiding food to become the victor and the victorious man of valor for his entire community against the Midianites (Judges 6-7 KJV).
So we see scripture after scripture of him using the least likely person in order to affect great impact, in order to further His plans, and in order that the kingdom may be expanded. Even if it feels like you just don’t know what you’re doing, God never asked for you to be all-knowing; He is. He never asked for you to be perfect; He is. He never asked for you to know the way; He knows the way.
God only required that we say “Yes”, that we submit our hearts, and that we stick to what God has given us, regardless of how we feel, regardless of how others may perceive us, God has called us. And when He calls, He expects an answer. When God calls, he prepares the way. When God calls, he equips, closes doors, opens doors, and has the final say. It is God who empowers you. It is God who teaches you by his Holy Spirit how to do what it is he’s called you to do.
You may feel as if you’re walking a walk that many may not understand and maybe don’t approve of, but if you’re walking with God, that’s all that matters. If you are trusting God, that’s all that matters. Stick to the vision He gave you, stick to the plan He gave you. Stick to walking with God above all else. Stick to trusting in Him, even when you don’t quite know where you’re going. He knows.
You don’t have to have all of the answers; He does. He’s the all-knowing God. God only asks that you be present, that you walk with him, and that you trust in him. That’s it. Release every weight, release every fear, release every shackle, and take the chains from about your neck. This is what he said in Isaiah 52, to the people who were in chains for decades.
They were being oppressed, and the Lord said, Take the chain from about your neck, loose the chain, because they always had the power. They just simply had to be reminded of what was in them. Stick with what God has given you in this season: stick to the purpose, stick to the plan, stick to the fire, stick to the prayer, and stick to building the way He’s calling you to build, because you never know how He’s going to come and meet you.
You never know how this story’s going to end. He only shows us pieces, because he knows that sometimes all we really need is to know the next step,. And to cultivate a life of faith requires trust beyond having a blueprint. It’s having the God that creates a blueprint out of you. Stick to it. Keep going. If you put it down, pick it back up. If it’s on the shelf, take it off the shelf.
This is the season to step fully into what God has called you, to stick to the plans that he gave you, to trust in his mighty will and his way, and to pave a way for you, for he is God alone. He knows why he’s called you, he knows why you’re here, he knows what the plan is for your life, even when you don’t. Especially when you don’t. God is still God, either way, He knows.
This day, as you wake, as you consider your next steps, remember that God has the final say. He knows the end from the beginning. He makes a way out of no way. He is the God that knows the plans he has for you, to give you a future and a hope, not to harm you. Stick to that vision, stick to that plan. Don’t give up on what God showed you.
Keep believing in the impossible, for with man, it may be impossible, but with God, all things are possible.
Closing Devotional Prayer
My prayer for you: Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank you. Thank you, Lord God, for the mighty woman of God. Thank you, God, for her being a paid member of this devotional, and thank you for those, God, who are listening, as I hear in my heart to open this devotional up for others.
I thank you, Lord God, that this devotional, God, will touch the hearts of those who’ve been wondering, God, if it’s the right thing to do, to keep going, to keep trusting, not knowing how it’s going to end, maybe feeling alone out there on that limb.
Lord, I thank you for blessing this mighty woman of God now, to know, oh God, that you see her, you hear her, God, and yes, it’s time for her to stick with it, to stick to the plan, oh God, to keep doing what you’re calling her to do, because even though she may feel as if she doesn’t fit, it may look as if she doesn’t fit the mold. God, you don’t care about the mold.
You call us, oh God, to do what it is that you’ve called us to do, regardless of whether or not we fit some preconceived notion. You chose Mary, oh God, a teenager, God. You chose her, God. You chose Esther, God, and prepared her years before she ever stepped inside the castle, God.
I thank you, God, that you prepared the way, that everything in this mighty woman of God’s life will make sense, God, as she sticks with it, sticks with the plan, presses into your presence, God, and trusts you completely, for you are the Lord our God. I thank you, Lord, and I pray in Jesus’ mighty name, amen.
