If any of you have seen Peter Jackson's The Two Towers, you'll remember a scene where Gandalf and his party confront Theoden and Wormtongue.
Because of Wormtongue's influence, Theoden had become a crippled, ghost-like being, completely powerless.
Once confronted by Gandalf, Theoden returned to his former glory and kingship.
For some reason, I think of God's throne room as looking like that hall in Rohan.
There would be banners on the walls, and attendants everywhere.
But instead of corruption, I can envision a glorious white light surrounding a powerful ruler.
Some of this imagery comes from Isaiah's description of God's throne.
"In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another and said:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
the whole earth is full of his glory!”
And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke.

Can you imagine Jesus sitting there?
His robe flowing about him?
Terrifying angels serving him and declaring his holiness?
When I consider the glory of the Son Most High, I find words utterly fail me.
