Today’s Devotional Scripture:
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

The Message for Today (August 1, 2026):
Imagine a church with stained glass windows and ornate wooden pews.
Beautiful arched ceilings with decorative metal lanterns hanging from it.
There’s a single aisle that leads to the altar.
Behind the altar is a crucifix.
Flanking the crucifix are the elaborate paintings.
Imagine God reaching toward Man like Michelangelo’s famous work.
You stand among many others, facing the altar, waiting.
Then He arrives.
Walking down the middle aisle with confidence.
He is dressed in golden robes, with a sash around his waist and a crown on his head.
His face looks young, but his eyes look ancient.
He arrives at the altar and kneels.
You are captivated by him.
It is He who you’ve been waiting for, all this time.
He prays, and the words he says are ones you’ve longed to say, but never could express.
He prays perfectly.
Light floods the room, and an incomprehensible booming voice echoes through the space.
You are filled with peace.
This is what I imagine when this passage says Jesus is the high priest who intercede for us to the Father. I visualize his beauty and magnificence, and I imagine falling down and worshiping him right then and there.
Of course, this entire scenario is fictional. Yet, it also feels real because it is the truth. We have someone who cares about us. Someone who hears and understands us. When we cannot pray, he prays for us with words like groans. (Romans 8:26)
Sometimes I think of him as an interpreter. Like someone who motions for the deaf or speaks another language for a foreigner, I wonder if that is what Jesus does for us. He speaks God the Father’s language because He is one with Him. The harmonious relationship of the Trinity is hard for us to understand. Because Jesus was human and because he paid the penalty for our sins, he alone is qualified to be that intercessor we so desperately need.
When you pray, don’t worry about what you’re trying to say. Pray earnestly, knowing God the Son will interpret your words correctly. Seek His face, and He will answer you with his quiet, still voice. Then, you must listen.
Closing Devotional Prayer:
Dear Lord, please help me when I can’t speak what I am feeling. Help me to find the words and know you are listening. Please give me an answer, even if it is a no or not yet. I trust you to be my high priest. In Your Son’s Name, Amen.
