**Sip Saturday is written by our Saturday morning contributor, - A beautifully gifted Christian author who seeks to honor the Trinity in her writing. She hopes that her words will encourage women to draw closer to God, whether that is through her fantasy series or her weekly devotionals.
Cornerstone Scripture:
It has been testified somewhere,
“What is man, that you are mindful of him,
or the son of man, that you care for him?
-Hebrews 2:6 ESV

Walking along the beach, the numerous pebbles piercing my feet, I searched. Although all the rocks looked the same, I was looking for something in particular. There! A single piece of sea glass, round, smooth, and vibrant green, popped out. I snatched it and put it in my pocket, then resumed my search.
By the end of my time on the glass beach, my feet were sore, but I had a small selection of sea glass. My grandmother, who had been coming to that beach for years, told me that it was getting less and less frequent to find the glass. Either it had been collected already or there was less glass being tossed in the ocean, broken down by the waves, and made into the small remnants we found. I gave my grandmother what I found, and she added it to her bottle that was more than halfway full with smooth, colorful glass pieces.
Looking for glass reminds me of how God must see mankind. Like precious sea glass in the midst of an endless shore of pebbles, God doesn't need to pick us out. He could just leave us on the shore. Yet, He doesn't!
God may not need us, but he wants us. He cares about us so much that he plucks us up and puts us in his hand. He has no reason to be "mindful" of us, but he is, and he treasures us. This question ("What is man that you are mindful of him?") is really rhetorical, leaving anyone with knowledge of the Bible and God to know how amazing it is that God notices us.
"Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies."-Proverbs 31:10 KJV
God knows we are precious to him. Far more than jewels or fine ornaments, we are his people. When I consider God's amazing love for us, I am in awe. We are precious in his sight, and that is not something to take for granted. With our individual colors, shapes, and sizes, we are like the treasured sea glass. Cared for and loved by God, we should live as women who are truly valued.
Let's pray.
Dear Lord, thank you for picking us up and treasuring us as your daughters. Help us to hold closely to that, no matter what. Amen.
Amen!
