Has your voice gone quiet? Have you been holding back, waiting, while looking ahead in observation mode to see what’s coming? Leaning on God, in patience and anticipation, allowing the Wonderful Counselor to say, “GO!”?
There are silent seasons in life when we are growing within, resting as we grow before we emerge. During this growing season, there will be times of rain, times of drought, darkness, and pain. All are necessary for our growth because they each help our process.
Recognize your growing season and embrace it. God has provided for this growing season. As the Word says, giving time for the land to rest, we need rest as well. If we do not take that rest, our harvest will suffer, the quality will be diminished, and the produce will not be as abundant as it would have been without that rest.
It may be a challenge for some of us to rest. Maybe you feel unproductive during the resting periods. Perhaps you’re in this rest due to injury, illness, or life circumstances. Either way, a resting rhythm and a productive rhythm are both necessary in life. By taking the time to rest, we are building strength and resilience. We’re being deeply rooted in peace as we’re growing.
Ask the Lord to help you develop your rhythm. Make room in your schedule for this rhythm and give yourself grace if an unexpected circumstance throws it off. Breathe, steady yourself, and reassess so you can continue. To keep your peace and rhythm, practice emotional check-ins in your mind and, if necessary, write them in your journal so you can reset and continue to grow.
Every growing thing experiences changes, rough patches, and wonderful growth spurts. If you prepare mentally and physically beforehand, when things happen, you will not be caught by surprise, and your mind will remain steady.
Rest, listen, lean in, and wait.
He will speak, and we will reap in due season if we faint not.
What is one area of your life where you are struggling to rest, and how can you hand it over to the Lord today?
Closing Devotional Prayer
My Prayer for You:
Lord, help the mighty woman of God to embrace the quiet seasons just as much as the busy ones. When she feels unproductive, remind her that You are working beneath the surface, strengthening her roots. Give her the grace to rest, the patience to wait, and the faith to trust Your perfect timing. In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray, Amen.
