In the grand scheme of our lives, it’s easy to look back and see all the mistakes we’ve made, all of the things we loved and enjoyed, and the things we also wish we could change. The good and the bad, all of those things are simply, you know, footnotes in our history. They are parts of what made us. These things that we look on when we look down memory road.
When we look down this memory road, we are essentially stepping into old moments and thinking of them and considering them and celebrating the life and the wins and some losses too. But every step of this journey has been covered. Every step of your life has been covered. The weighty glory of God is here now, so that through the memories, we can potentially ascertain the purpose, the plans, and the favor of God that we’ve walked in through every season.
There have been seasons where you’ve had all that you needed, maybe in abundance, provided for, and then there have been seasons of great loss, grief, pain, and truly just holding on to the confession of our faith. This is the ups and downs of life. And in the midst of it all, we’re advised in 1 Corinthians 5:21, for we’ve been made the righteousness of God in Him, the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
When we walk through this earth, and we are followers of Christ, lovers of God, and filled with His Spirit, we are indeed the righteousness of God through Christ. Not in our own works, not in our wins or in our losses, but in our simply believing in the Lord our God and walking as a follower of Christ and knowing that Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice. We are walking as the righteousness, the evidence, the goodness of the Lord in the earth.
It is in Christ that we find that center.
It is in Jesus Christ that we find that home, that regardless of what we walk through in our lives, all of those things have had a purpose, and we can be glad in it. And then the looking back doesn’t look so reminiscent as much as it is recognizing the goodness of God. And it’s more of us ascertaining where we are now and simply using our past as a reference point, but not as the failed experiments or as the failed relationships.
We’re not looking at it anymore as the proof, the value of our lives. When we are walking in Christ, and we’re walking with Him as the Lord our God, and we’re walking as the righteousness of God in the earth, who we were, what we did, all of the ups and downs in the past, now those things merely become references. They don’t become anchors that keep us stuck, keep us looking back and wondering if we could have made different choices and if we could have walked a different way.
Every step has been ordered, even in the shame, the losses, God has been with us each and every time. God has been with you in the midst of some of the greatest victories in your life and in some of the moments where you felt like you weren’t able to go on. God has been with us, faithful companion, closer than a brother. He sent His Spirit to be the comforter, to bring us peace in times of trials.
God has always been with us.
And so when we see in Romans 8:28, and we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purposes. We are all called with certain assignments and a purpose for our lives. We all have unique gifts that God has given us to walk out. We all have different assignments, whether it’s assignments in the workplace, assignments at home with our families, whether it’s assignments that help to propel, to lift up, and to move us forward.
We all have assignments. We all have purposes. There’s a reason you are here. And that reason, once explored with Jesus, can open up an entire world of possibility because there is a reason. There is an indication that you being in the earth was intentional, that God doesn’t make mistakes, that you’re here for a purpose and a plan that can only be ascertained deeply in a walk with God.
And that sometimes our hearts will tell us, even if we don’t always listen, things that seem like it’s out of season, maybe it’s too late, and we should do other things because that’s the reasonable thing to do. But when we follow the heart that God has given us, when we walk with God, and we follow the heart that the Father’s placed in us, we can begin to open up possibilities from decades in the past.
We can begin to open up the glory that is inside of us in our communities, in our lives, in our children, and in our businesses. When we walk with God, knowing in our hearts that every step is ordered, that changes things and allows us to see that our lives are lined up now with His glory and lined up for His purposes. It gives every step an intention. It gives every waking moment a moment to be grateful, to be full of gratitude, thanksgiving, and praise.
Because this moment is one where God has orchestrated it for you. Right here, right now, right where you are, there is the Lord our God. Mighty to save and deliver, suddenly shifting, transforming, breaking everything that’s not like God, and bringing you into the fullness of being the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
So yes, ordered by God. Your life has been ordered by God. The pain you’ve walked through, God can use it, and the victory is ordered by God. There are many times when you’ve walked in your own way, and you’ve made some missteps, but our God is gracious; He is mighty. He has provided for us a living sacrifice that bore the weight of sin so that we can turn to Him and repent.
We can turn to God, and we can seek His face and be restored in the glory of the living God. In the glory of the Lord. This is only made possible by walking and trusting in Christ Jesus. This is only made possible by the blood of the Lamb, who has already paid the cost. Who knew no sin but became sin for us. He is faithful, and He is more than able.
Closing Devotional Prayer
My Prayer for You
Father, in the name of Jesus, thank you. Thank you, God, for the grace and the glory this morning. Thank you that the woman of God is rising, knowing that her victory is in the works, oh God. Her day is set, God. I thank you for ordering her steps in the name of Jesus.
Thank you for sounding the alarm, oh God, that she is not alone. You are our great God, mighty Counselor, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. I thank you, Lord God, for being the Lord of the breakthrough. I thank you, oh God, for we are the righteousness of Christ, we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
I thank you that the mighty woman of God will take on that identity this morning, that the grace and the glory of God can be preeminent in her life, so she can begin to believe again, dream again, and step fully into victory in the name of Jesus, knowing, oh God, that the steps are ordered by the Lord, the steps of a good woman, a good man, are ordered by the Lord.
Lord, cover the mighty woman of God, cover her heart and mind, Lord God, as she sojourns through this day, through traveling, through taking the kids to school, through work, oh God. I pray that you will cover her, God, and I thank you for traveling mercies for every woman of God here in the Daily Devotional community.
I thank you for the grace and glory of God, that her steps are ordered, and I pray that her faith will arise, that line up with 2 Corinthians 5:21. I’m praying that her faith will rise to know that she is the righteousness of God, and that everything is working out for her good. So Lord, I thank you, and I pray in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
