Today’s Devotional Scripture: 2 And the Lord said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.

3 Now therefore go to, proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand. - Judges 7:2-3 KJV

God expects your faith to grow from glory to glory. He expects your faith to mature from faith to faith. It is rarely a sudden shift that God calls you into unless you’ve been ignoring the still small voice of the Lord. Here, we see, with Gideon, that he was given tasks leading up to this shift. We see in chapter 6 that first he is called out of the winepress and, in a matter of hours, called into being a mighty man of valor, and with that calling given an assignment to tear down the altar of Baal and the grove thereof.

Then the Lord gave him the assignment that he would lead the people of God to victory over the Midianites. And there was a testing that was allowed by God. At the end of chapter 6, we see that Gideon places a cloth on the ground and says, Lord, please, I want to just make sure if you are going to give me victory, please do this. Do this with the cloth. And what it says in Judges 6:36:
