The daily issues of life can feel heavy, and there are days when it just feels like too much to carry. It is in those moments that we can turn to God. The heaviness is a reflection of the work that we put in today. The work we poured into our families. The work poured into our babies. The work poured into our jobs. The work poured into our ministries.
The grace in your life is physically poured out when you are walking with God and doing the work of ministry. Whether guiding little children, doing your job as unto the lord, investing in your education, or keeping your home in order, there is a spiritual grace poured out. With all of the viral videos about the undervalued and invisible mental labor of women on social media, it’s easy to feel like your pain is common.
Common phrases like “Everyone deals with that”, “Everyone has issues,” and “That’s just life” intentionally undermine and invalidate the heaviness you feel. One person you will never hear that from is someone who loves you and someone who is led by God. Unfortunately, we don’t all have that kind of support network. We don’t all have the kind of supportive friends, family, or husbands who understand the weight and can help us carry it.
But God Knows
He knows how heavy life can get. He knows that the weight can be heavy enough to shake you and break through that “acceptable” Christian countenance. That forced smile. That customary “I’m fine”. God knows, and he explicitly speaks to this for us:
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. - Matthew 11:28-30 KJV
The perfect time to go before God and release every way is right now. God’s door is always open. He already knows what you’re dealing with. He simply desires for you to open the door and sup with Him. Sit. Be still and stay for awhile.
Through all of the emotional turmoil and the feeling alone, God is there. Through all of the weight and expectations of this world, God is there. You are not alone. It’s okay to release the pain, the heaviness, and the weight of life before the Lord. May the Lord bless you with peace tonight so that you can rest and be at ease in His presence. In Jesus name. Amen.
