God desires to know us. He desires to know our hearts, and we ultimately desire the same. Yes, the results of knowing God and being intimate in His presence are more joy, more peace, more love, and more breakthroughs in our lives. The problem occurs when we desire the results more than we desire the commitment.
We are in a world that desires the answer without having to endure the test.
We see it with quick weight loss plans and microwave meals. We see the quickness in the speed and the desire to get there faster, and we miss what life truly means. We miss the challenges. We try our best to avoid the pain. We pray for deliverance from trials and testing, all the while missing the point that the trials and tribulations are a part of our growth. They are part of how God cultivates our faith.
Closing the door is about you recognizing that God is right there with you. He’s waiting for you to stop pursuing the things of this world and to go before Him, knowing that He is God alone.
Yes, there’s a time for working.
Yes, there is a time for getting out and meeting new people.
There’s a time for growing in the Lord and in your walk with God.
There’s a time for fellowship in the house of the Lord.
There is a time for education.
There is a time for all of these things. But here and now, it is time for us to know God. All of these things are good and needed but they can not God knowing us.
How can you know God when the world is so loud? How can you know God when you are listening to 15 different voices on social media telling you 18 different ways to do a thing?
But God.
God wants you to close the door. He wants time with you. Accomplishing so much in this world and missing out on the premise of love and a relationship with God places you in the position to face what many face when they come before the Lord at the end of their life, when the Lord says, Depart from me, for I never knew you.
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. - Matthew 7:21-23 KJV
This is your invitation to stop performing. Close the door and spend time with God tonight. Close the door and worship. Turn on your favorite worship song and just sing to God tonight. Know that He is with you and you are with Him. He knows the pain that you are dealing with. He knows the desires of your heart.
But does He know you? My prayer for you:
Father, cover the mighty woman of God.
Cover her. Heal her, God, of every affliction. Let her know, God, that you are with her. Bring down the walls, God, and allow the peace of God to go forth like never before. For you, our God alone.
I thank you, Lord, and I pray in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
Good evening.
