What we see in the cornerstone scripture is the Lord speaking blessings over Israel. He is speaking blessings and promising restoration. So this scripture shows us that God is mighty, that he is able, and that he will rejoice over us with singing.
We don’t have to worry or be afraid. We don’t have to, you know, do it in our own strength. We can truly trust God to walk with us and to show us how to walk with him full of rest, full of peace, and knowing that he is singing over us. He cares about you. He is a very present help in a time of trouble (Psalm 46:1 KJV). He is not some distant God who does not care, who is not available. Right here, right now, our God is mighty, and receiving this in your heart is receiving that he’s able to guide us.
He’s able to shift us even in the most darkest moments. He’s able to show us ways out of no way, open doors that don’t make sense. And so we can rely on his providence by faith because of this scripture. You can see that the Lord delights in his people.
To delight is to find joy in. To delight is to love, to be delighted by, to find such joy and peace with him. This is what God feels towards us. And Zephaniah 3:17 shows us this when it states that he will rejoice over us with joy, with singing, and that we can rest in his presence because he is at rest.
Because of him and his great love, we can have the faith that all of these things are being worked on in the name of Jesus. All of these things are growing in your life. All of these things are working together for your good. That is the promise of God.
So the spirit of the living God is with us. His presence is with us. For where two or more are gathered, there he is in the midst also. So I thank God right now that you are not alone. I thank God right now for him being mighty in his restoration and his great love towards us.
In this season, be mindful that he who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it to the coming of Christ. This means that God is not done yet.
He’s not done with you.
He’s not done with your family.
He’s not done with your children.
He’s not done with you because you’re still here. There is a plan that He has for you.
And many times the way for us to get through is to worship our way through, is to lift up our God above the circumstances and above the noise, and to surrender to him all the things, knowing that he is good and knowing that he is God and knowing that he is more than able. He’s mighty.
Receive that today in your spirit that He is mighty. Receive the peace of it that He is mighty. He’s a mighty God, so you don’t have to be mighty. You don’t have to be perfect. You need only to say yes in the trust that God is guiding you every step of the way, to seek His face in the scriptures, to understand, to know, to love, and have a relationship with his word that you may know the good, acceptable, and perfect will of our Father.
As we come to the end of this devotional, reading Zephaniah 3:17 is just the beginning. In the scripture, when you read the last few verses, it says:
17 The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.
18 I will gather them that are sorrowful for the solemn assembly, who are of thee, to whom the reproach of it was a burden.
19 Behold, at that time I will undo all that afflict thee: and I will save her that halteth, and gather her that was driven out; and I will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been put to shame.
20 At that time will I bring you again, even in the time that I gather you: for I will make you a name and a praise among all people of the earth, when I turn back your captivity before your eyes, saith the Lord. - Zephaniah 3:17-20 KJV
This scripture tells us no matter how tight the chains are, no matter how deep the hole is, no matter how far gone we feel a thing is in our lives, that we can turn to the creator of the universe who will turn our captivity when we trust and when we surrender. When we are submitting, he will turn the tables for us. He will make ways out of no way. He will break all manner of limitation when he is present, when his spirit is in the midst.
So as we ponder Zephaniah chapter 3, verse 17, in the contextual verses 17 through 20, lift up your eyes and behold. See that the Lord is mighty. Receive in your heart that he is mighty, that he is a good God, a good father, and that he is mighty. He’s able to lift and restore.
Look up, and it may just be time for you to be restored, to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living, and to experience the miracle-working God who was faithful to deliver us from the weight of this world.
Closing Devotional Prayer
My prayer for you.
Father, in the name of Jesus, thank you. Thank you, Lord God, for your mercies are new every morning. I thank you for the mighty woman of God. I thank you, Lord God, that there’s nothing missing and nothing broken. You are our great God. You are El Shaddai.
So Lord, I thank you. I bless your holy name, God, and I thank you for revival over the mighty woman of God. I thank you for restoring her back to the fullness of her joy. I thank you for the favor of God. Nothing missing, nothing broken.
Lord, I thank you that the winds are moving and the ocean is raging. Oh God, the whole world is shaking, but you are still God. So I thank you for your faithfulness, oh God. I thank you for being a keeper and a lover, God. I thank you, and I pray in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
