When reading the New Testament and being introduced to Jesus, the man Jesus, the one who walked the earth for 33 years of his life, we are given a description of who he is. He is the light of men. His very being was there in the beginning.
When God created the heavens and the earth, He was there, and everything that was created was created through Him. This very clearly shows us that the Lord was there in the beginning, and that because he was there in the beginning, he carries the light that lights up man. The life that we reflect as the light in the earth.
This all came through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. When looking at our day-to-day lives and looking at how to apply His word, it’s easy to stick to the Proverbs and use the clear instructions as a way of walking through our day-to-day lives. But the entire Bible has such beautiful wisdom straight from the throne room.
The scriptures, when placed together, knit together all of known history from the beginning of the earth to now. It is knit together with the giants, knit together with the Israelites, and knit together as we crossed over into Canaan. Knit together, all of it, one beautiful tapestry of what we know to be our faith.
So when you look at our everyday lives and we look at how things are going, pulling on that tapestry and sitting before the Lord, our God, gives us the capacity to be able to understand the light and to be able to be the light in the earth. That light that is bearing witness in our very being that Jesus Christ is real, that he wasn’t just the man that walked the earth, but that he was fully God and fully man.
This is the light that we look to day in and day out, that light to remind us of the power we have, that light that shows us what God always intended for our lives, and it is that light that brings joy, healing, and deliverance. That is the light that we’re called to be in the earth, bearing together great witness in our bodies, in our hearts, and in our minds that he is Jesus.
