59 And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.
61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.

So often when life gives us lemons, we are encouraged to make the best of it, to go and take those lemons and make lemonade out of them. To take the issues of life, the bad cards that we may have been dealt, the pain that we have experienced, and make the best out of it.
And the truth of the matter is, yes, it is best for us to move forward, to be grateful for the lemons, to be grateful for the negativity, to be thankful for the doubt, to be thankful, and to be grateful. In 1 Thessalonians 5:18, it even tells us that. It tells us to be thankful in all things, for this is the will of the Father towards us.
So we see the Scriptures lining up. We see the will and the glory of God encouraging us to be grateful in the midst of the issues of life. But there is nothing in the Word that says to turn back and deal with life’s issues, to turn back and deal with the things that are beyond your control, to turn back and deal with the things that you can no longer change.
There are so many things that we cannot fix.
There are so many things that occur that are beyond our control, beyond our capacity, and beyond the will of the Father for us to even touch. But we do it because we don’t know exactly where to start. We are scattered, we are on different journeys, we often turn back, or we move forward, and we’re not quite certain how to progress.
But through it all, God is in the midst to provide the peace that surpasses all understanding, and then to bring into that peace joy, love, and revelation. We don’t have to battle these things alone. God never said that the battle was yours. He said that it was the Lord’s. God never told us to take on the weight of this world. He said to cast down our cares because He cares for us.
In Matthew 11, verses 28, 29, and 30, the Lord shares with us very clearly that His will is for us to come before Him and rest, for His yoke is easy and his burden is light. So the grace and glory of God is there for us to walk fully in our liberty, to walk in the peace of God, to let go, and to walk with Him. But we’re often tied down by the issues of life, wondering how we can overcome, how we can shut the door, how we can learn something new. We’re often wondering if we are on the right path and if we’re doing the right thing.
But God knows. His ways are higher than our ways and his thoughts are higher than our thoughts. If God has called you to a new mission field, God has given you a divine assignment. God has given you something new, and the enemy is trying desperately to fight it. Remember that the enemy cannot stop God.
So the enemy of our faith wants to destabilize you, to undermine you, to get you to believe that it’s not worth it. But the Lord our God is faithful, and he constantly shares with us in scripture to not grow weary. to grow not weary, for in due season we will reap a harvest if we faint not. That’s Galatians 6:9.
God gives us these scriptures to remind us that waiting is not easy, that life takes time, and breakthrough can happen suddenly, or it can happen over two decades. But it will happen.
The Word of the Lord will come forth.
This blessing is real, it is true, and it is long‑lasting. So while you’re looking at the issues of life that are keeping you from saying yes to God, from completely trusting God, the things that are keeping you from walking with Him, the things that are fighting you on your journey, be mindful of this very thing: that He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it until the coming of Christ.
God has more for you than for you to take the lemons of life and to make them lemonade. Maybe you don’t like lemonade. Maybe you do. Maybe you prefer strawberries, fruit, and blueberries in order to have a smoothie. Maybe, just maybe, God has called you to do something different. He’s called you to become, to grow, no matter how long it takes.
So putting your hand to the plow and not looking back is an act of faith. It is us telling God and telling our families, telling our situations and circumstances, principalities and dark forces:
No, we will not give up on the purpose of God.
No, we will not put down the mission and the battles that he’s given us to walk with him.
We will not stop trusting in the Lord our God.
We will not go back and try to fix all these issues on our own.
We yield those issues to God. We yield those things to God, knowing that if we put our hands to the plow, the Lord will bless us.
This is the mindset to step into: that the Lord will bless you when you turn to him, and you begin to decree a thing and know that it shall be established unto you. The enemy wants to undermine your faith, so his key thing is to keep you from moving forward, stop you from progressing, feel like you don’t have what it takes, feel like it’s not the right time, and that you’ve got to do more.
You’ve got to show up more, you have to cultivate more. But the truth of the matter is, God never asked you for more. He said to say yes. He asked you for your heart, and He asked you for your faith. That you may put your hands to the plow and walk in the glory of the Lord, in the battles that He has for you, in the things that He’s called you to do.
Because every battle is not yours, and every aspect doesn’t have your name on it. But when it does have your name on it, when prayer is a thing that God puts in your mouth concerning a thing, and when the Lord gives you a divine assignment, yes, that is when we go in. That is when we seek. That is when we go before the Lord in prayer.
But we’re not fixing every odd thing on our own. We’re only touching what God tells us to touch. We’re only building what God tells us to build. We’re only speaking to what God tells us to speak to. We will not strike a rock without the will of the Father. We will do what He says, do as He says, do it.
That kind of commitment to the Word, that kind of stability of mind and purpose, is what the enemy hates. Because then nothing can come up to cause us to stop walking with God. Nothing will be able to shake us when our entire being is rooted in Christ Jesus. Nothing can stop you, and nothing can block you when God is with you.
It is now a matter of you choosing to keep your hands on the plow, choosing to trust God ever the more, choosing to double down, triple down in your prayers, choosing to get back on the wall and believe God again, choosing to pick back up that old dream. You’re choosing to put your hand on the plow and not look back: to put your hands on the plow and say, Yes, Lord, send me, I’ll go.
And maybe He’s sending you into the health industry. Maybe He’s sending you into corporate America. Maybe He’s sending you into mission fields in other countries. Maybe He’s sending you to mission fields right in your own backyard and community. The ability to pray with another mighty woman of God and lift her up is a ministry.
And we all have it. To trust in the Lord our God and to know that He is with us. That’s what empowers us to keep going, to put our hands to the plow and to not look back. We can let God fix what’s back there. We can let Him order the steps of those who are back there. But we put our hands to the plow, and we move forth, forgetting all those things that are behind.
We press toward the mark of the prize of the high calling in Christ Jesus. We’re letting go of old accomplishments, old limitations, old mindsets, old identities. We’re releasing it all, and we’re surrendering to God, for He is God alone.
Closing Devotional Prayer
My prayer for you:
Father, in the name of Jesus, thank you for the mighty woman of God. Thank you, God, for being a keeper. Thank you, Lord God, for sudden shifts, for healing, for breakthrough. Lord God, you are more than a conqueror, and she is more than a conqueror in you. Everything, God, that she needs is in your presence.
So, Lord, I thank you for your presence over the mighty woman of God. I thank you for the favor of God. I thank you for the supernatural power, O God, and for the weighted glory. Lord, you are God alone. There is nobody like you, God. There is nobody above you, God. There is nobody that can do what you can do.
You are our great King, our mighty counselor, the Lord of Lords. It is you, O God. I thank you, Lord, and I pray in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
