Opening Prayer:
Father, in the name of Jesus, thank you, God. Lord, I thank you for a day well done. I thank you, God, that we are at the end of a day, the end of a work week, O God, the end.
And I thank you, God, that as we go into this weekend together, that the grace and the glory of God be over this mighty woman of God. I thank you, God, that as she rests tonight, as she sits down with you, O God, that all of the regret, all of the way, all of the pain of yesterday begins to fall off, and that in its place, O God, that there is a peace, O God, that where she is now, God, is where she is meant to be.
I thank you for the grounding that comes in your presence. I thank you, God, for the rootedness that comes from your spirit, that when we walk with you, O God, we are planted, O God, in your grace, planted in your glory, planted in the possibility, planted, O God, in new mercies, planted, God, in great grace. We are planted in your love, God.
So I thank you. I thank you for the woman of God. I thank you for this evening devotional. And I thank you, God, that as she flows through it, that the word of the Lord will sit upon the mighty woman of God like a warm blanket, bring healing, bring breakthrough, and shift her, O God.
Lord, I thank you, God, that you make all things new. I thank you, Lord, and I pray in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
We have so many reminders in scripture to not get tired, to not give up, and to keep going.
The race is not given to the swift, nor the battle to the strong. (Ecclesiastes 9:11 KJV)
Grow not weary in well-doing, but in due season. (Galatians 6:9 KJV)
We have these reminders sprinkled throughout God’s word because God knows you get tired. When the world wants to criticize you for exhaustion, wants to make you feel bad, and feel ashamed for being tired and feeling heaviness, God knows.
He knows you get tired.
He knows you get overwhelmed. He knows you’re going to have your human moment. And this is the same. He’s given us scripture for these moments to show us how to be able to navigate them.
Because in the world that wants you perfect, flawless, always happy, always content, and always playing the role, God says, Not with me.
God creates a space in his word where you can begin to immediately step into a rested place, a place full of authenticity, accountability, and love. He gives us this as his daughters. He gives us this.
The word that applies to men is the word that applies to women in the name of Jesus. It’s the same word. It’s the same love. It’s the same God.
So when He says in Matthew that we can rest and we can come and cast our cares, we can actually look at that together.
So in Matthew 11:28-30, it states:
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. - Matthew 11:28-30 KJV
God knew. He knew you would get to moments of exhaustion. He knew there would be moments when you just didn’t have it in you. He knew there would be moments when you wish you could just let it all go and go back to where you were before you made some of these decisions, before you knew the heaviness, before you knew the cost.
Here, there is no shame. Here, there is no condemnation in Christ Jesus. He knows.
And through it all, he gives you a resting place. He gives you his spirit. He says, come rest, and I will give you rest.
This is a promise from God. This is a step-by-step process on how to step into the divine rest and peace from God.
Not that the situation changes, not that the issue gets any lighter, but you know that you’re not walking through it alone.
When God begins to show you ways that you can navigate the hard seasons, the heavy seasons, the regret, He shows you ways to navigate that that defy logic, that move outside of condemnation, and that move outside of religion.
These ways that God creates circumnavigate expectations and impossible. Impossible is not in the vocabulary of our God. So he circumnavigates impossible. He moves around obstacles.
God makes a way of escape for you.
The same God who blessed throughout scripture, mighty women of God who submitted to him. Mighty women of God who carried a word in their mouth and mighty women of God who trusted him, the Lord said to them, what he saying to you:
Be still and know I am God. (Psalm 46:10 KJV)
Take comfort, thy faith has made thee whole. (Matthew 9:22, Mark 5:34, Luke 8:48 KJV)
Come, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28 KJV)
Cast your cares, for He cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7 KJV)
Lay down your heavy burdens, and I will give you rest for your soul. (Matthew 11:29 KJV)
This scripture in Matthew 11:28-30 is not just a few words knit together. It is a promise from God that you can grab hold of right here, right now. You can pray for a way of escape from the old thinking, from the old conditions, and from the weight of it all.
There is a way that seems right unto a man that is death, but God’s way brings life.
God doesn’t want you stifled, quiet, silent, and acting as if everything is okay. He wants you real, open, and free. He wants you poured out so that finally he can give you the rest you need. Finally, He can bring forth the peace that your heart screams for. Finally, He can show you the love of a good, good Father.
My prayer for you:
Father, in the name of Jesus, thank you. Thank you for the mighty woman of God. Thank you for the favor.
Lord, bless the mighty woman of God as she rests tonight. I pray that you give her sweet sleep, that you break all the way, oh God, and that the mighty woman of God can rest in your presence, rest in your spirit, and rest in your love.
In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
Good evening.
This is a short, encouraging evening message.
