Today’s Devotional Scripture: 12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. - John 14:12 KJV

In yesterday’s devotional, we discussed walking and praying and doing in his name, that the name of Jesus carries weight, and that trusting in Him and praying in the name of Jesus is as opening the door to the power and majesty of God being released into our lives.

But prior to that verse of scripture, verse 12 inside of John 14 gives us a large indication to how we are to walk this walk out daily. When we read the cornerstone scripture, the clarity that we are indeed empowered by our faith in Jesus to do greater works because he went to his Father is important.

By Jesus enduring the cross, laying down his life, facing death in the resurrection in order to be at the right hand of God, we have the Holy Spirit. Because He did all of those things, the Holy Spirit was released for each of us.

In John 19:30, we see this, and it reads:

When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished, and he bowed his head and gave up the ghost. - John 19:30 KJV

The moment HE died, he released the Holy Ghost. Now, we didn’t see the outpouring until Pentecost, and that’s true. But here is the definitive moment in scripture where it tells us He gave up the ghost.
