Today’s Devotional Scripture: And the Lord said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons. - 1 Samuel 16:1 KJV

In this scripture, we see that Saul is given his exit. He is being replaced by a young man of a different lineage so another king is being anointed and this young king we know to be David, the son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, and he is indeed anointed in 1st Samuel chapter 16.
But the particular scripture here that pops out is “I have provided me a king”. When you see these words it's easy to miss and potentially glaze over the profound impact of this statement. There was a better king needed; one who honored the Lord, followed the instructions of God, and trusted in God completely. There was a need for a new king.
What the Lord did is He provide one out of the midst of that need. He provided one that was beautiful in continence and comely to look at is what it says in 1st Samuel chapter 16. An unlikely candidate chosen to bear the weight of the assignment to be chosen and to be anointed as the next king of Israel. God will move in unusual ways to show you how necessary you are in the earth.
When He states that I have provided myself a king among his sons, people can begin to think that he's just birthing kings left and right and creating kings left and right. But no. There was a need of the people. There was a need for one that honored the Lord to guide Israel and God provided David. David became the solution even before he understood the nature of what he would be called to do in the fullness of the solution.
He was the solution, nevertheless. It was what he was created to do.
He was created to be king over Israel.
He was created to unify a split kingdom into one.
He was created for every battle and every step that he took.
He was earmarked for this. It was predestined over his life. These things were set from when he was in his mother's womb. All of that was set for David. Likewise, everything that you're walking through and every weight can seem as if it will be the last. It can seem as if it will be overwhelming. However, when the Lord sends a word and when he says “I will choose me a solution I have provided for myself a king”
Ask yourself: What have you been provided for? What has God created you for cultivated you for in the wilderness and prepared you for in this season because you are chosen. This is a divine assignment to walk with the Lord. To to be given as a gift to the world that God may bless the world through your life. That is so humbling and this is what it means.
So often we look to the world so often we look to the world, we look to others, and we look to the majesty of God in order to be the solution. But God has provided you as a solution. He is providing you as an anointed vessel of the Lord with certain skills and talents that are earmarked for your industry and for your divine assignment.
So the first question is: Who were you given to? Who needs you? What region and what community of people? Who were you created for?
When you learn who you were created for, when you learn who God gave you to, and how he provided you in the earth, it's easy to say no to everything that does not line up. It's easy to let go of things that are completely distracting when you realize that God gave you to them. He gave you to people. He gave you as a solution and consider that every person in your life is a solution.
Maybe an unintentional one. Maybe lessons learned in life. But every person in your life was given to you. Every man and every woman was given to you. He was provided by God for your growth, for your edification, for your maturity, for you to grow in love, for you to grow in peace. This is the will of the Father that you would know:
“Lord, why why am I here?
Lord, who was I created for?
What is my purpose?”
These questions are often questions that pour from the lips of believers when they are ready to start walking with God completely. There will be a time and a season when it will become clear. Not only that you were given as a gift but cultivated as an answer for someone's life. Your testimonies, your oil, your anointing, and what's on you matters. What's on you is peculiar. What is on your life is strategic. It is yours alone.
The battles you've won, the victories you've walked through, and every step that you've walked have all prevented and all led to this moment.
