Audio Version Of This Devotional: Go Back Again Audio
Now in this scripture we see a pivotal turn in the story, as the prodigal son is off and wasting his resources and his life, chasing something more, chasing the feeling of joy, and wasting all his wealth. He has gone into the world, and when fortunes turn and he's in a famine, he finds himself at the lowest point in his life.
He is with the pigs, waiting for scraps when he comes into himself. He comes unto himself. He comes as a man waking from a deep dream. He realizes immediately in his heart that his father's servants live better than he's living. And so, he places it in his heart to go back, and to go back in the desire to just be a servant, to repent for what he's done to his father, for all that he's lost and the mistakes he's made.
He goes back with that heart to repent and is met with a much different reaction. This is the Grace of God. His father sees him from afar off, comes and hugs him as if seeing a son lost, and says in the scripture, in verse 24, for this my son was dead and is alive again. So it's no mistaking the fact that as he was off in the world, that he might've been doing all of these various things, but he wasn't truly alive.
He wasn't truly free and he was not truly operating in the sovereignty and the power of knowing whose son he is. He was the son of his father. He was the son of his father. That realization shook him from the lowest place of his life and set him on a path to go back home again. To go back again into his father's arms, to go back in willing to take whatever he had to take just to get back into his father's good graces.
It is never too late to run back into the arms of our father. It's never too late to step into what we were always intended to step into. The mission and the plans of God are yes and amen. There may have been years of delay. It may have felt like years of you being lost. It may have felt like years, but God is able to redeem the time. He's able to restore what was lost. He's able to bring back to your remembrance who you are, that you may know his love again and that you may step fully into the identity of who you are.
All of these things are the will of the Father towards you. Go back again. Go back to the vision that He gave you. Go back to the dreams that you had before life showed you that dreams very rarely come true. Go back to that little girl who knew that she could do anything because the world didn't have a chance to tell her that she couldn't. Go back to that woman that stepped into believing in Jesus Christ and following Him and was on fire for her mission and purpose.
Go back again. It's not too late. It's not too late to see the fullness of the word of the Lord released over your life. It's not too late to see the redeemed power of God at work in your intimate relationships. It is not too late for you to see the fullness of God over you concerning marriage, concerning relationship, and concerning fully walking in the things of God in purpose and in power.
It's not too late. Go back again. Trust again. Believe again. The weighted glory of God is working on your behalf.
Closing Devotional Prayer
My prayer for you: Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank you. I thank you for great grace. I thank you for the glory. I thank you, God, for the supernatural. I thank you for the power of God at work. I thank you for overcoming the enemy in all of his ways.
I thank you, Lord, and I pray in the name of Jesus for every wall and every distraction to come down. I thank you, Lord, that the shift is coming forth over her now. You are God alone. I thank you for the outpouring of your spirit. Thank you, God. Thank you for the breakers anointing here and now. Bring back to her remembrance the things that you promised her.
Lord, let her write it in the book. Let her write the vision again. Let her believe again for you are the Lord of hosts. You are the God of heaven's armies. Lord, there is nothing that you cannot handle. There is nothing too hard for you, Lord. I thank you for great grace. I thank you for the glory, and I thank you for the power.
Lord, I thank you for your grace is sufficient, and your strength is made perfect in her weaknesses. Thank you, O God, that she is redeemed. Thank you, God, that we are seeing a brand new day. I thank you, God, for the restoration of promise, of joy, of fulfillment. And of walking in purpose with you. I thank you, Lord, and I pray in Jesus' mighty name. Amen.
