Audio Version Of This Devotional: Fruitful Word Audio
The word of the Lord has a purpose. It has a plan. When God sends forth his word in the earth, he sends it with intention. Nothing He says is pointless. Nothing He releases is in vain. It was the word of the Lord that was there in the beginning. John 1 verses 1 through 3 speaks of how in the beginning was the word and the word was with God.
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. - John 1:1-3 KJV
Of course, the word in this case being Jesus in spirit there in the beginning. But also the word that departs out of the mouth of the Father, the bread of life, has an intention. It has a purpose. And when God sends it, he is not sending it out idly. It accomplishes something. So the word that was spoken and the word that was present in the beginning and Genesis created the earth and everything in it.
With His words, creativity sprung forth and told the oceans below and the oceans above to part. And now we have, of course, the heavens and the earth. It was His word that gave man authority and dominion over the animals of the earth, the fowls of the sky, and the creatures of the sea. So the word of the Lord has a purpose. It has an intention. And the word being fruitful is being guaranteed here.
In this scripture in Isaiah, we see that the Lord is saying that if He speaks it, it makes it so. He's saying that this word would not come to him void, meaning it will not come not being fulfilled. When something is void, it is invalidated. It is no longer valid for use. In this case, when the Lord sends out his word, it is sent forth with power. It is sent forth with purpose. It is sent forth with intention and it's going to accomplish what it set out to accomplish.
I love that the Lord says here in this scripture that the word itself has an assignment to prosper in the thing that He sent it to do. Can you imagine that the word of the Lord over your life has a job and the job of that word is to be successful? This is what fruitful word looks like. Fruitful scripture, fruitful promises.
The Bible says that God is not a man that he should lie nor is he the son of man that he should repent. To repent meaning to change His mind. So even the scripture supports this, that the word of the Lord bears good fruit. It is always full. Consider that not seeing the word of the Lord manifest in your life in this season could mean that you aren't quite aligned and ready for it. Not that God is not a keeper of promises. He keeps his promises and his promises are yes and amen.
However, to be prepared for the promises and to be prepared for the word to be fulfilled is yet another thing. The word of the Lord will prevail. It will set to accomplish what it accomplishes, but it does not mean that it will force you to believe in it. The word of the Lord has an assignment. Your assignment is to receive that word by faith, to believe it is even when you don't see it.
Now we see in the scripture with the father of faith, Abraham is given a word of the Lord that he will bear a son. And after so many years of waiting, his wife, Sarah sends forth a handmaiden to do the bidding of carrying a child. And now we have Ishmael. Ishmael is the epitome of what many of us do in our own lives.
We create substitutes. We force things to work on our own behalf. We do things in our own way and we lean to our own understanding. Rarely acknowledging God that He knows what it is we're called to do. He knows the plans. And so not acknowledging God looks like going about your business, doing things the way that you want, going where you're going to go, forcing situations, and attempting to force people to be in your circle and to do what you require.
There is so much of that control that is rampant in the earth. It is rampant in the world, especially when the world comes to a place where it cannot find its own security in being. The security must be found in how others are controlled around them. Let this mind be in you that is in Christ Jesus. The word bears fruit. It is fruitful and it will bear good fruit as long as you're ready. As long as you're prepared. As you are in position, the Lord will send the word where he designed for it to go.
He will send it to you as you're in the moving, as you're growing, as you're building, as you're pouring out. According to His word, he will send forth increase. He will send forth his word. So what we see with Abraham is that when Abraham gets to the top of Mount Moriah in Genesis 22, we see that the Lord says, Now that you've given your son, your only son to me, him saying this to Abraham from heaven is a clear indicator that the promise of God was the only promise that would essentially be acceptable.
12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. - Genesis 22:12 KJV
The only son being the one that God gave Abraham. Because His word is fruitful. Even though the word took the better part of 25 years, the word took over 20 years to come forth in the form of Isaac, that does not mean that God was slacking his word. It meant that there, in this case, was a period of divine waiting. It was a period of obedience and a period of faith.
Allow your life to be a demonstration of God's faith, of his love, and of his care.
Remember that the Word is fruitful. It will bear good fruit. So receive that word and come into agreement, knowing that God will fulfill it in Jesus' name.
Closing Devotional Prayer
My prayer for you: Father, in the name of Jesus, thank you. Thank you for the mighty woman of God. Thank you for the outpouring of your spirit. Thank you, O God, that the weighted glory of God is coming forth even now. I pray, O God, that as your word goes forth over her life, that there be a supernatural shift.
Lord, she has experienced year after year and season after season of walking with you. You know her intimately, God. I pray in the name of Jesus that this be a season that she can walk fully by faith into the promises of God, which are yes and amen. I'm praying that every hindrance to the word of the Lord being manifest over her life is broken.
Lord, let there be evidence that she is with you, that she is yours, and that you have spoken the word over her life. Lord, I pray for increase over the mighty woman of God. I pray that every distraction will fall away, and that as the increase comes forth, O God, that she will continue to speak life over herself, speak life over her family, speak life over her finances, and that she will come into agreement with your word. I thank you, Lord, and I pray in Jesus' mighty name. Amen.
