Today’s Devotional Scripture: 24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. - Mark 11:24-26 KJV

So many believe that forgiveness is for other people. But Mark 11:24-26 in the King James Version, clearly denotes the truth of the matter. Forgiveness is not for others. Forgiveness is the only way for you to be free. Not only that the Lord may forgive your trespasses, but that you may see the prayers that you pray come forth in the earth.
It says in verse 24:
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
This verse of scripture is the first verse shared because the immediate verse following says and when you stand praying, forgive. So forgiveness is connected to you seeing the things that you desire and pray for come to pass. Forgiveness is not a popular concept. And sometimes people will say they forgive, but truly still hold ought, grievances, and frustration in their hearts.
The decision to forgive is not a light one. It takes courage. It takes a desire to move beyond the moment. It requires forgiveness for others and as well as yourself and requires letting go of the need to have closure or ever receive an apology from someone. It is a major character development to forgive without ever receiving an apology.
Here in scripture, it makes it clear that forgiveness is connected to us seeing our prayers in the earth and God answering our prayers. Yes. However, there is more. Forgiveness allows you to release certain pain, memories, weight; spiritual and physical from your body. Forgiveness is a superpower of every person, but it's more so for the believer due to the intimate connection that we have between forgiveness and having an extremely close relationship with God and seeing the fruit of our lips through prayer.
These things are required. Forgiveness allows weight to come away from your heart, your mind, your body, and your soul. It encourages your body to relax, to breathe, and to trust in the moment you're in. This moment, it will pass. Many more moments will come and go. How you treat this moment and how you live in it matters. Not doing the work to forgive tethers you outside of the moment. It tethers you to someone else's actions.
It tethers you to the pain they caused months, years, decades ago. It tethers you to the old person that you were when the affliction occurred when the cause of the pain occurred. It keeps you tethered and stuck in seasons past. Forgiveness is like an anchor that is dropped against your will that is under the surface fighting against your forward movement. If you have prayers that you have not yet seen and it feels as if things that you're doing are being hindered, ask yourself if there's unforgiveness at work in your life.
Ask yourself if unforgiveness is an open door that the enemy is gleefully using to hold you captive in old seasons, to hold you tethered to an old mindset, and to keep you from fully walking out the authority you have through Christ Jesus. God can do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we ask or think according to the power at work within us. Lack of forgiveness and holding on to the pain is not tapping into that power. It's negating that power within us because we won't let go of the past.
We're not seeking God as a very present help in this moment, in this time, and we're not letting go. It's evident that we are holding on to the 80s and the 90s, or things that happened five years and 10 years ago. We are a people that is obsessed with keeping our things. Rightfully or unrightfully, we are obsessed with keeping our things. This is why storage is one of the most profitable industries. It's storage units.
We have a problem letting go, and it shows up in our everyday lives. It shows up in the physical when we don't release the pain, the hurt, the trauma, and the unforgiveness that keeps us tethered to said trauma over and over again. It is a decision to let go and to trust God. It is a decision to release the past and completely forgive someone so that you can turn your heart and mind to the things of this moment, to prosper you, to advance you, to step into the hope that God has for you.
All of this requires an intentional mindset and a desire to forget, to let go, and to walk in the now.
Closing Devotional Prayer
My prayer for you: Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank you. I thank you for the mighty woman of God getting this devotional here and now. I thank you, God, that you've kept me as I've grown a little weary in these last couple days. God, you've held me and you've kept me on this path.
I thank you, Lord, that despite every distraction and stronghold, this devotional has somehow met her right where she is. I'm praying, oh God, for every situation that concerns her. I thank you for the breaker's anointing, God, that breaks the yoke. Lord, God, you say in scripture that it is the anointing of God that breaks the yoke.
I thank you, Lord God, for that anointing. I thank you for yoke-breaking power that we would not be tied to old seasons. I'm praying in the name of Jesus that she be released from old seasons, old mindsets, and old patterns that the enemy has used to entrap her and enslave her inside of her own mind for years.
Unforgiveness, Lord God, is the thing so many have clung to in our anger, in our frustration, and in our need for closure. Lord, these things all have their place. But I'm praying this morning for the breaker's anointing to go forth over her, that everything that has been standing before her spiritually begin to calm down. Every yoke, every burden, and every stronghold must break under the authority of the name of Jesus Christ.
Lord, I'm praying over her finances. I'm praying over her relationships, Lord God, and I'm praying over her sound mind. I thank you, Lord God, that you've not given her a spirit of fear, but one of power, of love, and of a sound mind. I thank you that her sound mind is being covered and that they are surrounded by you, that their mind is being renewed daily, that they're not being conformed to this world, but transformed by the renewing of their minds.
I thank you, oh God, that part of that renewing is letting go of the old memories in their hearts, in their minds, and in their bellies, releasing the old pain, God, day by day. Lord, I thank you for the release of it. I thank you for the letting go. I thank you for you are Jireh. You know what it is that you're doing, God. I thank you, Lord, and I bless you. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
