No matter how impossible a situation seems, God is with you. You are not alone. He is walking with you right now. He is with you always. Often life convinces us, slowly but surely through disappointments and through betrayal and through failures, that someway, somehow, we are solely alone, that we're doing things on our own, and that's not true.
After hundreds of years of slavery, the Israelites in Egypt found a savior in Moses. The Lord sent Moses to speak to them, to encourage them, and to demand that Pharaoh let God's people go. Through trial after trial, plague after plague, we see that the children of Israel hold on. They wait until the moment that Pharaoh releases them, and they leave Egypt.
They leave Egypt, and they land at the edge of the Red Sea. With Pharaoh's army behind them and the Red Sea before them, it feels like an impossible situation. It feels like there's no way out. The Lord begins to speak to Moses, and tells him to raise his staff, to exercise the power that God has put in him, and the Red Sea opens.
They have no boats. There's no forest where they can just maybe learn to make boats. The only way that they were gonna cross this body of water was if the Lord made it happen. There are some situations that are the literal Red Sea in your life, and the only way that you're going to get past them is for you to go before the King of the universe. To look to him in prayer and to know that he is with you.
To hear the word of the Lord through scripture, through prayer, through fasting, through worship, and through sound biblical teaching. These are the ways that God sends His word to you. These are the ways that He breaks every stronghold, and He opens up the oceans in your life. We see here that the children of Israel walk across the Red Sea on dry land.
There's a wall of water on their right, and a wall of water on their left. The impossible image that they must have seen, that the Israelites saw and that the Egyptians saw, the power of God holding open an ocean so that the people could cross over, so that his people could cross over, must have been astonishing. It must have caused fear and trembling.
As they walked across, hundreds of thousands of Israelites experienced the awe of God. They experienced the miracle of seeing the impossible. The mind-bending, mind-blowing power of God. So it wasn't just Moses. It wasn't just a heaviness on his shoulders. It was the glory of God at work to bless a people and deliver them into the promised land. This was simply the first step.
Be reminded this morning that God is with you, that His will and His way are preeminent. He is walking with you. He is fighting for you. There is a shift that we see in this scripture that occurs towards the end of the chapter. We see that the people of God are full of fear and trembling because the Lord closes the waters over their enemies. Because obviously, the awe of seeing an ocean open for the Israelites was not enough to convince the Egyptians to leave the Israelites alone.
The Egyptians and their hatred at the behest of their Pharaoh go into this impossible situation in hopes of killing the Israelites. The Lord then tells Moses to close it. To close the ocean over Pharaoh and his army. The children of Israel were shocked. They were shaken, and they were reminded of the power of their God.
It's time this morning to remember that you don't have to fight some battles. Yes, there are things you may have to walk through. There are things you may have to endure, but there are also times when you cannot possibly do it on your own. These are the times when you can let go and allow God to ease you into a new season, ease you into financial stability, ease you into peace in your marriage, or ease you into the reconciliation with your children. Allow the Lord to ease you into it.
Closing Devotional Prayer
My prayer for you, Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank you for the mighty woman of God. I thank you for the grace and the glory over her and over her family. I thank you right now that there is no greater work and that your love remains. I pray that the mighty woman of God will begin to see that as she begins to let go of the fear and the struggle of attempting to do these things on her own, that she's going to begin to sense the love of a good, good father who comes to her defense, broaches the impossible, breaks open heaven for her, and makes a way out of no way.
Lord, I thank you right now that the mighty woman of God will see something new. Lord, I pray that her faith arise. Now, greater than anything, allow her faith to arise differently. Let it breathe, O God. Let it be seen, O God. Stir up her most holy faith, God. Lord, the measure of faith that you've given her, according to Romans Chapter 12:1-3, you've given this mighty woman of God a measure of faith.
I pray that the measure of faith be brought higher. I pray that the measure of faith be released. Allow the measure of faith to be stirred up, that she may see healing, wholeness, peace, and deliverance. I pray that she's going see something new. She's going see the season change, not by might nor by power, O God, but by your spirit. I thank you, Lord, and I pray in Jesus' mighty name. Amen.
