When it looks like life is overwhelming and that things are pretty bleak, turning towards God is our default. It is how we connect with Him. It is how we bless Him. It is how we receive the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

We turn to God. We lift up our hands. We worship, and we pray. We do these things because we’re looking for God to be the peace. We’re looking for the comforter to come in and bring in revelation, peace, and a new thing. We’re looking for the faithfulness of God.

When life starts getting heavy, and we don’t do that, it is easy to forget who we are. When you don’t spend time in the presence of the manufacturer, understanding the identity, the fulfillment, the expansion, and the growth of you tends to be drowned out. That understanding is drowned out and covered by all the things of this world.

All of the ideological passions, all of the politics, and all of the things that take our energy, that we pour ourselves into, that the world tells us are more important than God. These things are not bad inherently, but when we’re consumed with it, in addition to our day-to-day tasks, our daily responsibilities, caring for our families, providing for our families, and walking with God, all of this becomes noise.
