Today’s Devotional Scripture: 6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.
7 Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it. - Zechariah 4:6-7 KJV

When seeing the words “By His Spirit”, when hearing that in church, and when attempting to walk that out in our lives, there are some misconceptions about what By His Spirit actually means. So many believe that By His Spirit means that we're to live a passive life; a life where we are not aggressively pursuing the things of God, the assignments He has given us, and the growth that we are to step into in the world.
Because of the nature of this thought of By His Spirit, and because of the nature of our faith, many will literally put down their faith. They will put down their journeys, their walks, and they will wait for God to show them what to do. Or they'll wait for God to do what they should be doing in and of themselves. Even the waiting for what God is calling you to do, even the waiting, can sometimes be outside the will of God.
We are to use what we have and apply it. It is in the doing that God gives us revelation. It is in our walk that he shows us grace. When we are walking with God, all the confusion in the world doesn't matter. All of the lack of clarity doesn't matter. When you are walking with God and when you are being present with God, you are stepping into the fullness of his presence.
In scripture, it says the fullness of his presence, that is the source of our joy. That in his presence is the fullness. Because of that, we should constantly be pursuing His presence at a minimum. In doing the pursuit actively each day with God, the answers come forth with revelation, with truth, and with power. With revelation, with truth, and with power, God will give us instruction, divine revelation, and images.
It is our job to operate in the images that we see. When we decide to wait for clarity or a specific X, Y, Z, what we are in fact doing is operating in passive faith. And passive faith is another form of dead faith. Remember that the scripture says that “faith without works is dead”. So believing that we are walking with the Lord, believing that He is our God, and that he will bring us peace and clarity means we should not be waiting on God to do anything.
We, in fact, should actively be knocking. So the scripture for the presence of God is in Psalm 16:11, which states
11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. - Psalm 16:11 KJV
So in His presence, we have that fullness of joy. In His presence, we have that peace. We have that breakout that happens when we're walking with God, because the joy of the Lord is our strength. Now, as you start walking with Him in this season, as you begin to trust him at a different level, and as your faith becomes a living, breathing entity that God can use for his glory, he will often meet you right where you are.
The same way He met Gideon in the winepress in Judges 6, he will meet you right where you are. Meaning, as you're moving with Him, as you're growing with him, as you are actively operating in your faith, God meets you and brings clarity, revelation, and next steps. By His Spirit.
By His Spirit, he brings clarity. And so the cornerstone scripture here in Zechariah 4 shows us that even though Zerubbabel is not fighting this battle alone, that the Lord is with him, he still comes from the battle with the headstone of the mountain. Meaning he was present on the battlefield. He actually carried the headstone with victory, but God was with him the entire time.
What battles have you not engaged in just yet, because you're not certain about how God wants you to show up?
You're not certain about what to do. You're not certain about whether or not it is even the will of the Father. In this case, when you say, “Yes, I'm going to trust in God, yes, I'm going to walk with him”. You are saying, “I'm going to show up for the battles, not knowing what to do next, but I'm going to show up fully. I'm going to get on the battleground of my life and say yes to God so that I may see the fullness of God in the land of the living”.
This is a faith act. By His Spirit means he is with you. He is working things out for your good according to the measure of faith that you have. Are you working this faith? Are you walking with God? This is the will of the Father towards you and me, that we would see the fullness of the Lord in the land of the living. No distractions, no fear.
This is the grace and glory of God at work. As you go through this day, remember to keep in mind that He is El Shaddai, that his grace is everlasting, and that his mercies are new every morning. No matter what happened yesterday, right here, right now, you can start something new. Right here, right now, you can see the breakthrough today.
Let go of every old thing and praise him now. Come before his throne of grace and mercy, seeking that you may find. Knock, that the door may be opened to you for everyone who seeks, finds. Everyone who asks will be given, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. This is scriptural, that as we go forth, He meets us there.
So Matthew 7:7-8 reads:
7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. - Matthew 7:7-8 KJV
That is your instruction, that is your sign to stand in the boldness of God, to be restored by His Spirit, so that God can make all things new in your life right now.
Closing Devotional Prayer
My prayer for you: Father, in the name of Jesus, thank you. Thank you for the grace and glory of God over the mighty woman of God. Thank you, God, for the favor. Thank you, God, that as we walk with you, God, that you will bring forth revelation, that you are the one that gives our lives meaning and purpose.
I thank you for the breakers anointing here and now, to come against the devourer, that we are no longer apathetic in our walk with you. We are no longer lax in our praise, O God, that we hunger and thirst for you as the deer panted after the water brook, O God.
I thank you, God, that we're going to get into your presence this morning, and we're going to bless your holy name, O God. I thank you for the righteousness of God. I thank you for the favor. Lord, please break every barrier and every wall. For every free member who's getting this devotional today and for every paid member that gets our typical Monday through Friday devotional, I'm praying, God, for a blessing upon the mighty woman of God now.
I thank you for those who are sowing into this devotional, allow the grace and glory to go over them in a way that, as they are sowing, O God, they shall reap as well. Growth. They shall reap increase, O God, and they shall see the goodness of God. For those who are free, O God, I'm praying right now that momentum hit her house, God, that things begin to shift for her financially, and that she is able to get to a point, God, where she can sow as well.
Lord, I thank you that despite the famine that we may be coming into, God, despite the lack that is happening in our society, despite the crumbling, and despite a potential recession, for each and every woman here, you are still God. You are El Shaddai.
I thank you, Lord, God, that you are the Lord of the breakthrough for her and for all that pertains to her. There is no confusion, Lord God, in you. I thank you, Lord, and I pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
