Today’s Devotional Scripture: 21 And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him. - 1 Kings 19:21 KJV

Audio Version Of This Devotional: Burn The Yoke Audio
It's time to let go. When God calls you to move and make a radical transition from one state to another it requires a pruning. The things that might have gotten you through a dry and barren season will not be the functionality and the things you need in the season that is flowing with plenty.
To cross over from one state to another strategically with the Holy Spirit, one must be ready to burn every yoke. Every attachment to who you are and what you needed in the season are gone. In Joshua Chapter 5 we see where the believers after crossing the Jordan are eating their last bit of cornmeal and it says when the cornmeal was eaten that it was done. In Joshua chapter 5 verse 11 it says:
11 And they did eat of the old corn of the land on the morrow after the passover, unleavened cakes, and parched corn in the selfsame day.
12 And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Israel manna any more; but they did eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year. - Joshua 5:11-12 KJV
They crossed over in the scripture. We can see in verses 11 and 12 of Joshua chapter 5 that the children of Israel drastically shifted from 40 years of receiving manna from God. Sustenance that would fall from the sky that needed to be converted into bread and food. All of a sudden stopped. It was done. They had no more manna is what the scripture says. That shows a drastic change in diet.
A drastic change in the mindset of how they will produce and feed their families. Maybe something that you depended on ended because it was time for you to learn a new way to break and burn the yoke of the past. It's to open up a new door for your future. And we see this in our cornerstone scripture in 1st Kings chapter 19. As Elijah throws the mantle on him he immediately shifts and goes to work. He says, before I come with you let me go say hi to my mother and father.
So Elisha knew that he wasn't going back here. He knew that he was not coming back to plowing in the field and the orderly life of the farmer. He knew that his life was forever changing. So he went back. He kissed his parents goodbye. But before he left he did something different. He burned the yoke. He gave unto a sacrifice the oxen. And when the sacrifice was completed he left. He fed the oxen to the people that he cooked over the burning fire of the yoke and he was free.
He was released and became someone and something different.
Now is the season and now is the time. When it's time to move you can trust that God isn't going to abandon you. To let go and burn the yokes is to expeditiously come into agreement with the glory of God. It is the ability to know that the season has indeed changed and that it's time for something new. A new wardrobe, a new mantle, a new mindset. A new wardrobe to be able to represent that you are not the old person. This must present as where you are in this season.
Perceptually being able to step into that new person through your wardrobe will change you. The second thing that happens in terms of walking out of one season and into another is that there is a mindset change that must occur. Going from eating manna every day for years to now having no more manna might have been a shock to some people who were used to the familiarity.
But for those who had been ready, this was an opportunity to eat the milk of the land. It says in the scripture that Canaan may have been able. It was flowing with milk and honey and that they ate of the land of the Israelites, ate of the land of Canaan. In this season allowing the grace and glory of God to go forth and for you to go with it is making a decision that you will always be in agreement with the Lord about your life.
You will all be ready to let go of every old thing. You will not be like the woman at Sodom and Gomorrah who decided even though she was told not to do it, she looked back and immediately became a pillar of salt. Let go of those past things that God has delivered you from, is delivering you from, and allow the peace of God to come forth over you in a mighty way.
Burn the yoke of past mistakes.
Burn the yoke of strongholds that your family has been under for years.
Burn the yoke.
Allow the peace of God to come forth. Let your posture reflect that you are indeed someone new. Let your actions support the new you. How you move, what you decide to do, all by the grace and glory of the Lord. It's time to burn the yokes and let the past go right now.
Closing Devotional Prayer
My prayer for you, Father in the name of Jesus, I thank you. Lord, I give you glory for the peace of God. I thank you, God, for being God in the midst. I thank you, Lord God, for you are able to do what you said that you would do. Nothing missing and nothing broken.
I thank you, God, for the grace and glory of the Lord over this devotional this morning. As we close out the devotional, I pray that the mighty woman of God who is reading this devotional today, that is listening to this audio right now, that there is a peace that goes over her, oh God, that surpasses all understanding. Let the weighted glory of God sit on her, oh God, like her strength, like a shield.
The Bible says that in the name of the Lord is a strong tower and the righteous run in and they are safe. I thank you, Jesus. Yahweh, I give you glory for covering the mighty woman of God. For the name of the Lord is a strong tower and you, God, are God. You are God alone. There's nobody like you. So I thank you for shifting the environment. I thank you for the oil. I thank you for the grace and for the glory and I pray in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
