We live in a cookie-cutter society. Our homes are diecast, our cars are diecast, and the assembly line has taken over our lives. Things are popped out by the millions, and most of them look the exact same. Individuality is rare. Uniqueness of identity, reality, and behavior, it’s all distinct and different.
But the world tries its best to make it fit inside of a box. The world wants you to fit inside of a box. It is easy to label things so that you can treat it based on how you label them. Part of that goes back to the way that we even operate with our Father. We call him “Our Father, which art in heaven”. When we spoke with Jesus, we called him the Messiah, teacher, Lord, Jesus, Son of David.
So there were names for Jesus that demonstrated what the person saw in that moment. But Jesus was more than just that name in that moment. Jesus gives us a beautiful demonstration of what it means to walk with him with so many distinct purposes and forms inside of one man, one being, and one layer of knowing. And in this knowing, we see that Jesus, time after time, owns all of the different, distinct behaviors and realities of who he is. He’s Jesus.
Likewise, even in the cookie-cutter society, God has given us something different and unique. And in this world, fighting for the right to stand on that uniqueness is important. The biggest battle you will face is not being placed in a box at work, in ministry, and in your personal life.
The moment people begin to place you in boxes, and you begin to line up your life to those boxes, you limit the power of God to show up in diverse ways in your life. You are more than just the employee. You’re more than just the mother. You’re more than just the wife. You’re more than just the daughter. You’re more than the sister. You’re more than the aunt. You are all of these things and more.
You are a blood-bought believer in Jesus Christ. You are a daughter of the King. You are so much more than the labels that the world wants to stamp on you so that it knows how to work with you, how it can operate with you, and how do you fit. And things that don’t fit make people uncomfortable. Jesus didn’t fit, and the Pharisees decided eventually to crucify him.
The way that He lived his life is a beautiful example to us of the power that Jesus walked in, not just in the earth, but in the spirit. He was the resurrection and the life. He called forth Lazarus out of the grave (John 11:43-44 KJV). He had compassion on a widow whose son was dead.
He was just coming along and out of His compassion decided to wake the child up from death (Luke 7:13-15 KJV). All of this was inside of Jesus. Why do we allow the world to put us in boxes? Why are you allowing society, religion, and fear to limit you to a box that it feels is appropriate to you?
There is a verse in scripture that states, “Thy will be done.” In Matthew 6:10 in the King James Version, it reads:
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. - Matthew 6:10 KJV
This is, of course, a part of the way the Lord is guiding them to pray in Matthew 6, but the verse stands alone as a demonstration that the will of God is first. The will of God over us, over our lives, the will of God over our situations, the will of God over our finances, the will of God over our children, thy will be done.
It’s the battle cry of a woman who says enough of trying to fit inside of boxes and walls and labels. Enough of trying to play one role or another. Being who God called you to be is more than a role. It is an embodiment of a divine identity that is imbued with the Holy Spirit, with the manifested gifts of the Lord, and with the dispensed gifts of God.
There are things that He assigned to you, whether it be of the prophet, the teacher. There are things that He’s given you to walk out in the earth that are uniquely crafted to your divine identity.
When he came upon Gideon in Judges chapter 6, Gideon might not have felt like it, but he had the tenacity and the courage. He was the one that God chose to tear down the walls, to tear down the altar of Baal, and redeem the children of Israel from the hand of the Midianites. That is who God chose, and He called him a mighty man of valor.
In this hour, be reminded that it is only you and God who knows you intimately. Your husband knows you as well, if the two have truly become one. If you are in that kind of marriage, besides you, there’s only one other person that knows, and that’s your husband and God. That’s it.
These are the only ones that truly know the intricacies of your nature, your heart, and the fullness thereof. This is because it takes intimacy to know the truth of who you are. It takes authority to be able to speak life over you and over your destiny.
When God says a word about you, he doesn’t care about the labels that you’ve worn up until that moment. He doesn’t care how small your tribe is and how you’re the smallest village, and he doesn’t care about those things.
When the Lord utters words over you through his scripture, through a prophetic word in the house of the Lord, through mentors he’s placed in your life, and through your dreams, he shows you the essence, the seed becoming a tree. He shows you who you are.
No one can undermine that. No one can limit that. No one can tell you that you have to fit in this box versus that label versus this room. God has ordained and covered you for every place he has you assigned, for every room he has you in, and for every place he wants you to go. God has given you the victory in Christ Jesus.
You don’t have to be just one thing, and you can operate in what is needed in that hour. Whether it’s the mother who needs to heal, whether it’s the wife that needs the comfort and support, whether it’s the leader in your corporate office or the leader in your business, whether it is the writer of your novels, your books, your short stories, or your poetry.
Whoever God has called you to be has many different gifts, diversities of gifts and talents that are custom-made for where God is taking you, and no one can take that from you.
God has created you to live beyond the basics, beyond the borders, beyond the limits and beyond the walls. He has made you something more. He’s called you His daughter. He’s called you a child of God. He is your Father, and we are his daughters, knowing full well that every word that He speaks over us will come to pass.
This is the faith that we have. This is the confidence that we have in Christ Jesus. We’re to live beyond boxes, labels, and the basic understanding of human beings. We’re to live in the glory of the Lord. We’re to live by faith and not by sight. For he is faithful who promised us.

I thank you for the patience of the living God. I thank you for the word of the Lord. I thank you, O God, for your spirit, which goes forth, O God, which is able, O God, to ensure a goodly report. So I thank you for the spirit of the living God. I thank you for the breaker, and I thank you for a movement, God. I thank you, and I pray in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
