Today’s Devotional Scripture: 7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee. - Proverbs 23:7 KJV

7 But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.

- 1 Samuel 16:7 KJV

In both the cornerstone scriptures this morning, you can see two things. The first thing is that our hearts think, not just our minds, and the second thing being that God looks on the heart, and he determines the man from a heart posture, not from an outward appearance, and not from a mind posture.

The heart is the center of thought.

The heart is the center of movement. There’s a reason that the scripture tells us to guard our hearts. When you consider the fact that as a man thinks in his heart, so is he, and as you consider the fact that God sees the heart of a man, and assesses his worthiness, it’s important that you guard what’s in your heart, so that your thoughts line up with God, and so that God sees the heart of a person who is submitted, and who loves him, and who is committed to the journey.
