Today’s Devotional Scripture: 5 After that thou shalt come to the hill of God, where is the garrison of the Philistines: and it shall come to pass, when thou art come thither to the city, that thou shalt meet a company of prophets coming down from the high place with a psaltery, and a tabret, and a pipe, and a harp, before them; and they shall prophesy:

6 And the Spirit of the Lord will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man. - 1 Samuel 10:5-6 KJV

God guides us in our day-to-day walk. He shows us how to rise, how to engage with our family, how to navigate the choppy waters of life with our head firmly lifted towards Him and our eyes on King Jesus. When walking with God, listening, hearing, praying, fasting, these are all the ways that we hear him, that we grow with him.

But there are times that God requires us to go outside of what we know. He desires for us to go deeper than what we may understand. He challenges us by calling us into a higher place.

Here in 1 Samuel chapter 10, we see that with a future king. We see that Saul left home for a particular reason. He wanted to find his father’s sheep, but God had another plan for Saul. So that when Saul was seen by Samuel the prophet, Samuel already knew that this was the man that he would be anointing as the first king of Israel.

The entire encounter required that Saul go a little deeper. It required that Saul get beyond his comfort zone. It required that Saul go deeper and go out of his comfort zone so that he could receive something different.

When walking with God in your day-to-day, remember that breaking up the pattern and doing what God is advising may be the very thing that the Lord is waiting on. It’s the very thing that he desires to see from you. It’s the very thing that is needed to shift you, to grow us.
