We all know that the enemy desires to sift you as wheat. This is what Jesus said to the disciples when He said the enemy desired to sift you as wheat, but I prayed for you. When Jesus says this to the disciple, he is encouraging him, warning him, and admonishing him that the Lord is praying for him, that he is not alone, that God is with him.

To consider that the enemy may desire to shake you up, to unbalance you, to distract you, to sift you, and to like shake you around so it’s almost as if you’re nothing but a vapor, as wheat, right, just being thrown around and tossed about in life. That may be what you are dealing with right now. That may be what many of us are dealing with from season to season. But God is faithful, and He’s more than able.

When we look at our lives, and we look at all that happens, the fact that you are still here in this moment is an indication that God has not given up on you. He is not finished with you yet. And so while the enemy does his best to destabilize, to demoralize, and to distract, God is right there whispering in that still, small voice to trust Him.

He’s whispering that He sees you.

He’s whispering, and it’s our job to be still and to know that He is God. So tonight, commit yourself to complete stillness. Commit yourself to complete relaxation. Commit yourself to letting go of every door, every wall, every stronghold, and every issue in your heart and mind.

Release it from your heart and come into a place of divine rest in Christ Jesus. That you will experience the grace and glory of God, that you will experience the peace that surpasses understanding, that you will be replenished and restored in your spirit, and that you arise in the morning full of His glory, full of energy and peace.

I pray in the name of Jesus tonight. Even though the enemy desired to sift you as wheat, the Lord is with you. The Lord is keeping you. The Lord is mighty to save and mighty to deliver. It is the King of Glory that is interceding on behalf of all of us, day in and day out. May the Lord bless you. Have a good evening. I will see you in the next Evening Devotional.

We are not halfway through the year, and you can feel the weight. The weight of responsibility, the weight of the day‑to‑day task, and the weight of the schedules. All of it is heavy. And there are times when you get your rest, and there are times when it feels like no matter how much you sleep, it just feels as if you are tired.

With the newsreel constantly prophesying wars and death and fear, it’s easy to get caught up in all of the noise in the atmosphere. However, our God is greater than the fear. He’s greater than the newsreels. He’s greater than the weight that you’re feeling even in this moment. He’s greater.

When we go before the Lord, knowing that we are not perfect, that we have flaws, that we make mistakes, but that God is making a way, we can let go of all of the weight and rest in His presence, knowing that He is pouring out His Spirit, pouring out a fresh song, a new song of victory. So we don’t have to carry all of the baggage, and we don’t have to carry all of the pain. You don’t have to carry all of the weight of the day.

We can release it and just rest.

We can release what we think we need and just rest. We can release the frustration, we can release the overwhelm. We can release the things that we cannot control. And the thing that we can control, we can do fully. We can rest in the presence of the living God. We can rest in the presence of our King, knowing that God is more than able to. He is battle‑tested, He is proven, He is faithful.

The cornerstone scriptures today show us the importance of joy, of going a little further, of mirth, of being merry. These things are things that we often feel are conditional on whether or not things are going our way, whether or not things are going as we planned, or whether or not things are going in our favor. We just believe inherently that joy and mirth and being merry are conditional things that depend on anything outside of us, whereas God tells us that joy is of the Lord.

When we make the decision to turn to God and to seek His face, we are making a decision about who we will serve that day. We’re putting down all of the fear, all of the weight of the world, all of the idols, all of the distractions. We’re releasing all of that, and we’re coming before the Lord, making a decision to find ourselves in Him, to seek His Spirit, to know that He is more than able, to believe in our hearts that God is indeed with us.

This is what the enemy wants to fight. This is how he wants to contend. This is what he wants to steal from you. He wants to steal that joy. That is the strength of God. He wants to steal that merriment. He wants to steal it.

So even in your moments of exhaustion and in your moments of tiredness, the enemy comes in the form of things not going well. Your body being tired, you not wanting to do it again, or you not wanting to get up again. It’s almost as if the enemy always finds you right when you’re at the weakest possible moment of you giving up and turning back.

But the Word tells us to grow not weary. Scripturally, Isaiah 64:4 gives us a good indication of what we can expect when we wait. It says in Isaiah 64:4:

⁴ For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him. - Isaiah 64:4 KJV

And so this scripture clearly shows us that waiting is the key, and that when we wait for the Lord, when we wait, when we are pressing in His presence, when we trust Him, when we decide to walk with Him, when we put everything else down and decide to lean into Him alone, then we are opening the door to seeing things that the world has never seen, hearing things the world has not heard, and receiving what surprises everyone else, what surprises the world, and what shocks them.

And so from the beginning it says, eyes have not seen, and ears have not heard. Now it also gives us the scripture in 1 Corinthians 2:9. But here in Isaiah 64:4 it specifically says, for him that waiteth for him. That is very different from he who loves the Lord. We can love our God, we can know that He’s able. But loving Him and honoring Him and trusting in Him are all three different things.

These are all three different things.

We can love God but not trust Him. We can trust God, and we can know that He’s more than able, but we have this fear that we’re not going to be able to see it. And so even though we trust God, there can even be unbelief in the midst of it, and the Bible tells us to only believe.

The Bible tells us of the dangers of unbelief, which we saw in Numbers 14. The unbelief of the Israelites caused so many of them their lives, so many of them to actually pass without ever seeing the promise of God. In this season, be mindful that the tired moments and the moments of exhaustion: these are the moments the enemy tries to sift you as wheat. He tries to undermine you. But the Lord is interceding for you. He’s praying for you. He’s fighting for you.

This is what we must remember day in and day out: that yes, we get tired, but the Lord is fighting for us. There’s room being made as we begin to walk with God through every life situation. God begins to turn tables, loose shackles, and place us in different positions of victory, of grace, of peace, of glory, and of soundness of mind.

This comes with His Spirit. This victory, this love, this outpouring comes because we know there’s more. So we don’t give up, as it says in Galatians 6:9. We don’t surrender, we don’t grow weary. What we do is we hold fast to the promises. We hold fast to the confession of our faith because God is faithful who promised us (Hebrews 10:23 KJV).

We turn away from the world.

We do not conform to the world, but we come before the Lord for the renewing, that we may be transformed by the renewing of our minds. This is what God shows us is His will. And so as you look at the issues of life, as you consider all of the weight of yesterday and the past weeks, remember that there is so much more that God has for you than this.

There is so much more that is in store for those that wait, for those who press and they tarry, and they trust in the Lord. They don’t just trust, they have complete faith that He is God, and they pray for the Lord to deal with their unbelief. These are the earmarks of a woman of God who knows that God is with her and that He will not fail, that the Lord our God is mighty inside of her, and that the Holy Spirit is working to go exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we can ask or think.

When you begin to walk like this, when you begin to believe like this, everything else can fade away, and the grace and glory of God can come forth mightily.;

Closing Devotional Prayer

My prayer for you:

Father, in the name of Jesus: thank you. Thank you, God, that your mercies are new every morning. Thank you. Thank you for this beautiful morning. I thank you for this day.

I pray a blessing upon the mighty woman of God, whether she’s listening to this in the morning, in the evening, in the afternoon. I thank you, God, that you’re right there with her, that you are more than able, that you are Jireh, that through the issues of life you are good and your mercy endureth forever.

Thank you, Lord, for surrounding the mighty woman of God, for shifting her heart and mind, for opening her to receiving, O God, what thus saith the Lord through these scriptures. God, speak to the mighty woman of God. Speak to her spirit, God. Break everything that’s not like you.

Cast down every weight, O God, and help her to see the fullness of the Word in the land of the living. Help her to see it, God, while she is yet here. Help her to open her heart, O God, that she may see the evidence, that she may see the miracle signs and wonders. I thank you, Lord, and I pray in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.

We see something peculiar in Acts chapter 4. In Acts 4:31, we see that the disciples, the apostles, as they’re praying, as the people of God are praying together, that the place was shaken and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost.

So we see that the Holy Spirit is pouring out deeply through Acts 4:31 because they prayed. Now, they were, of course, receiving resistance. The resistance was from Acts 3. The resistance was against them preaching in the name of Jesus. It was not a resistance against the miracle signs and wonders, but against them preaching, ministering, and healing in the name of Jesus.

So they didn’t want to honor Jesus as the power behind those great works. In facing that threat, the apostles in Acts 4 decided that they were going to pray to God for boldness. They were going to pray to God to pour out his Spirit on them, that they would pray with even more boldness, that they would go forth with more fire in the face of resistance and being challenged not to pray, essentially.

Now we see in Acts 2 another outpouring of God’s Spirit. And in that outpouring, some of the same people that are here in Acts 4:31 that were there, they were also in the upper room. They were in the upper room, and they were a part of the 120 who were praying.

And they also that day added 3,000 to the body of Christ because of the preaching they did. Their preaching was so full of glory and their preaching so powerful that 3,000 were added to the number of the body of Christ. 3,000 converted right there from all the nations. They were there. And so we see how the outpouring of the Spirit brings power.

It brings an empowerment. There is a gifting, there is a weight that comes. We see the gifts in 1 Corinthians 12. We also see gifts in Romans 12. We see the different gifts that all come from the same Holy Spirit, but have different functions and different use cases inside the body of Christ.

Tonight, the most important piece here is to remember that there are going to be many fillings. There will need to be many fillings for the demonstration, for the edification, the uplifting of the body of Christ, for healing. The fillings will keep coming forth: the filling of the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit pouring out, and you being filled with the Holy Spirit.

This may be an opportunity in this season, despite the resistance, the exhaustion, the tiredness, and your overwhelm with the issues of life; this may be an opportunity to be poured into by His Spirit, to be open to receive the outpouring again. To be open to receive that you cannot do it on your own. To be open to receive the fact that you may not know it all, but God does.

So when we’re looking at this scripture and seeing the evidence of another filling for those who were also there in Acts 2 during the Pentecost, they’re now there in Acts 4, and the ground is shaking, and God is pouring out His Spirit, and they are filled again. And as they were filled, they began to preach. They began to speak the Word of God with more boldness.

Acts 4:31 states:

³¹ And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. - Acts 4:31 KJV

So yes, there was another filling. They were all filled with the Holy Ghost. They were all filled again. And so tonight, as you rest before the Lord, as you consider the weight of the day and the things that you’ve dealt with, as you begin to move some things out of your heart and begin to release some things, and as you do a cataloging of the day and what went right, what went well, what still needs to be done on another day, in the midst of that, remember to pray for a refilling.

Pray to be refueled in the name of Jesus with God’s Spirit.

You need an outpouring of His Spirit to anchor. We need the outpouring of His Spirit to uplift. We need the outpouring of His Spirit to instruct, to bring to us all things, and to give us divine instruction. We need the outpouring of the Spirit of the living God. And we need it frequently.

We need that when we’re tired, and we’re exhausted, and we don’t really know what to do. Going before the Lord and praying for that refilling, praying for your heart to be refilled and refueled for the work that you’re called to, for the life that God is calling you to build, to not grow weary in what is right, what is good.

For in due season you will reap a harvest if you faint not (Galatians 6:9 KJV). We see all of these reminders to sit before the Lord and to pray and to seek his face and to know that God is more than able. But here we see tangibly that when we pray, we’re also receiving that refilling, that we can pray to be filled with His Spirit again.

We can pray for the refilling, and we can be restored in Christ Jesus when we pray. The Bible tells us, for they that knock and ask, they will receive. Matthew 7:7 is clear in that regard. You can ask the Lord, and you will receive. You can ask. And Matthew 7:7 in the King James Version states:

⁷ Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: - Matthew 7:7 KJV

And it goes deeper in verse 8 for everyone who seeks. God is really speaking and encouraging us through this scripture to be still, to be refilled, to rest before Him, and to know that He is God.

Lord, I thank you for the mighty woman of God. Cover her tonight, God, as we come to the end of yet another evening devotional. I thank you for the breaker over the mighty woman of God and over her home. I thank you that her sleep be covered in the name of Jesus and full of peace.

And I give you glory, O God, that tomorrow’s cares will care for themselves, that they will straighten out and be ordered in the name of Jesus by faith. And so, Lord, I thank you, Lord, and I pray in Jesus’ mighty name.

Where you are is no mistake. The position we are in, right in this moment, is no mistake. God is intentional. In our lives, as we make certain decisions in and out, often are a reflection of our beliefs, a reflection of just what has occurred in our lives, or a reflection of the issues of life. And when we’re facing those reflections, we’re facing the reality of a thing.

Now, whether we decide to go to war in the natural or in the Spirit is up to us. It is up to us how we begin to trust. It is up to us how we walk with the Lord. Here in 2 Kings 7, you see a prophet who is looking down the barrel of the gun, so to speak, because of his success in warning the Israelites of where the Syrian army would be.

They surrounded the city, decided to snuff out the people in Samaria, cut them off from trade, get it to where inflation in the city was sky high, and that the women even resorted to killing their children and feeding each other ( 2 Kings 6:28-31 KJV).

We see that here at the end of 2 Kings 6. Now, when Elisha is facing this, and he’s looking at the king who once depended on him, now putting his life at risk. His response is to decree a massive breakthrough. In 2 Kings 7:1, it says,

Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria. - 2 Kings 7:1 KJV

That decree essentially opened up something new. He prophesied by faith that the battle would turn and that he wasn’t doing anything to make it happen. Simply believing. He wasn’t getting up; he wasn’t digging trenches. No. He was believing that, by the grace of God, what he was uttering was true. There are some battles that you really can’t do anything about, but the Lord is with you.

There are some battles that are so far beyond your control that it’s a wonder that you don’t give up. But God is with you. And here we see that Elisha is facing down this attack on his life, and yet again, he begins to speak for Israel, to decree a massive turnaround in the financial status and in the cost of food, in a long, stretched‑out famine.

Because Elisha decided, in the face of potential death, to speak life, to utter it, knowing that God would perform His work. That God would do the work, and he needed only to be still and to watch it. We see the same testing in Numbers 20, when Moses is given the instruction of the Lord to speak to a rock instead of striking it.

Unfortunately, after leaving the tent, he and Aaron left the tent before the glory of the Lord; he failed to follow instructions. He did the first two steps, but did not do the third.

And when Moses failed to speak to a rock, the response from the Lord was to bar Moses from ever seeing the promise and to immediately create an edict that the life of Aaron was going up, that Aaron’s life was ending, and that his son would carry on Aaron’s mantle. It says in Numbers 20:12:

¹² And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them. - Numbers 20:12 KJV

In different versions of the scripture of Numbers 20, it will show you that some of them state the word “sanctified,” others state the word “honor,” others decree that he failed to believe God and to prove that He was holy. So to sanctify, to honor, to prove that He is holy; that is what Moses was advised to do when he was told to speak to a rock.

But he struck it instead. Because the battle was never Moses’ battle in terms of needing to strike something or pull out his weapon, or make something happen. It was all about the grace and glory of God to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we could ask, think, or possibly do on our own (Ephesians 3:20-21 KJV).

This battle is not yours.

This thing that you may be facing right now may be so much bigger simply because God intended for it to be bigger for you. He intended for the demonstration to be just that easy for your faith to step into. Life is never easy, but the Lord gives us tools to cope, tools to navigate, and tools to overcome. And one of the tools is our ability to speak and believe, to allow the Spirit of God to do the work, to trust, and to love.

This is the power we have when we decide, instead of exerting our energy behind fighting things that we can’t possibly fight on our own, to pour that energy into our relationship with God. Peace that surpasses all understanding, and knowing that the Lord will provide all that is needed.

He will make ways out of no way. “If the Lord guides me to it, he will guide me through it.” That’s the belief of walking fully in surrender to God, surrender to his will, surrender to his way, and taking joy in the fact that the Lord has not forgotten about you, that all authority and dominion are in the hands of us.

There is a grace and a glory that is going forth now for us to turn to God, to trust that the battle is not ours, it is the Lord’s. That we can rest and trust and walk in the assurance that the Lord is with us, and that He who began a good work will be faithful to complete it until the coming of Christ.

We can trust that the battle is not ours; it is the Lord’s. Especially when He has called us to do no more than just speak, to do no more than utter words, and to watch the grace and glory of God open up in a mighty way. This is the will of the Father, that we will receive in times and seasons when he tells us to go, when he opens the door for us, and when he makes room.

It’s up to us to receive that blessing, to receive the grace, and to receive the glory of walking with God, of trusting in Him and knowing that He is more than able. Elisha did it in 2 Kings 7, and Moses did it in Numbers 20. Or Moses was called to do it, but failed and fell out of covenant, fell out of promise, and fell out of his capacity to step into the promised land.

You can choose to be like Elisha, uttering a thing and then the next day watching the evidence of it: the evidence of the glory, the evidence that the word went forth, the evidence that you just believed, and things changed. Many of us, when tested with the opportunity to believe, we take things into our own hands or do our best to work with carnal weapons. But this is not a carnal battle.

Many fights, many, many fights are about our understanding and our trust in God and our ability to stand the test and stand boldly in the grace and glory of God. There’s a grace, there’s a peace, and there is a joy when you let go and you allow your heart to simply trust the Lord. For the battle is not yours; it is His.

And when you receive this in your heart, you can release a lot of the tension and fear, the weight of this world. You can let it go, and you can trust God to give you a better way, to show you how to move forward. In Jesus’ name.

Closing Devotional Prayer

My prayer for you:

Father, in the name of Jesus, thank you. Thank you for the grace and the glory of God. Thank you for the shackles coming down. Thank you that there are no limits in Christ Jesus. There are no limits to you.

There are no limits to what you can touch and who you bless. There is no limit to you, O God. You operate outside of time. Thank you for the grace and the glory of God over the mighty woman of God. Thank you, God, that this message, though brief, I pray that it will have impact, that it will go forth, and it will bless the woman of God tremendously.

Lord, I pray for the grace and glory of God to cover her, for the weighty glory of God to open up before her, that she may walk in liberty. For whom the Son sets free is free indeed. I thank you for the liberty over the mighty woman of God.

I thank you for the weighty glory of God over her life. I thank you that everything that’s not like you is breaking and that she’s getting to the other side in you. I thank you, Lord, and I pray in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.

Tonight, as you lay yourself to rest, remember that everything that you have dealt with, everything that you have walked through, all of it has a purpose. It may feel like every twist and turn you’ve walked through may have just been unnecessary weight or unnecessary warfare. But many of the things that we endure day in and day out help to cultivate us, help to strengthen us, and guide us on our journey in Christ.

God did not promise that this journey would be easy.

He did not promise that there wouldn’t be times when you would struggle, and you would be tired, and that you would want to rest. There are so many scriptures that speak to the fact that God knows this would be a reality. Galatians 6:9 tells us to grow not weary in well doing, for we shall reap a harvest if we faint not.

The Bible tells us in Numbers that God shall never leave us, never forsake us. He is always with us. He knows what we deal with, what we struggle with in the body of Christ. He knows your personal struggles, what your family’s dealing with, and what you have encountered.

He knows the nature of the warfare that you are encountering. He knows that the enemy may be coming against your finances, your sleep, your children. He may be coming against your stability of mind, your purpose, and your employment.

But God. God is more than able.

So tonight, as you rest in his presence, as you sit with the Lord, just remember to say, thank you. “Thank you” for every trial, every circumstance, every tribulation, every wall that you must walk around, endure, and overcome. For this is strengthening you.

It is empowering you by His Spirit to lean more into God than you’ve ever leaned before, to trust more deeply than you ever knew possible. We’re meant to walk in Christ Jesus, to grow in His will and in His Word. To not be stagnant in our faith, to not be stagnant in our trust, and to not be stagnant in our knowing the Lord.

Through prayer, through fasting, through diligence, purpose, through sitting in his presence and knowing what we’re called to be, who we’re called to be, and how we’re called to show up. That comes by way of personal relationship with God. That comes by way of edification. That comes by way of fellowship.

It comes by way of a relationship with God, where you pray, and you hear, and you know the Spirit of the Lord is at work within you. That’s what it says in Ephesians 3:20-21. And so, because the Spirit of the living God is at work within you, that means you have the capacity to pray.

You can call out to God, and He will answer, as it tells us in Jeremiah 33:3. So we are not alone. In every part of your walk, every single barrier, everything you’ve had to navigate has been purposeful and has been a blessing in disguise. It has grown you, it has strengthened you, and it has solidified your walk with God in a way where you know you trust Him, whether it ends up well or not.

You trust Him because you have come to know Him through time spent in His presence, through the pressing in His Spirit, through the pressing in prayer, and the pressing in your praise and worship. There is so much that comes forth when you are walking in Christ Jesus.

So much development, so much growth, so much transformation. Radical shifts in mindsets and attitudes. All of that comes by the grace and glory of the living God. He is El Shaddai, and He is more than able. May the Lord bless you tonight, cover you and your family as you rest. In Jesus’ name. I’ll see you in the next Evening Devotional. Good night.

Hurricanes are terrifying and devastating to any who are affected by them. Costing approximately $23 billion per event, houses, businesses, museums, vehicles, and lives are swept away in one horrifying moment. Yet, at the center of this powerful storm of water and wind is a semi-peaceful area called the eye of the storm.

Most of us don’t consider trials of this life to be peaceful or restful. Instead, they are often seen as stressful events. People will often experience physical symptoms, such as sleeplessness, digestive issues, or headaches. Mental problems also arise, with depression, a sense of hopelessness, or anxiety. That’s why I doubt anyone asks to suffer or desires anything terrible to happen to them.

Yet, what if suffering was the best way for us to grow? What if the trials of this life are the best lessons? And, what if God was using the terrible things of this life to teach us and grow us? Personally, I wish God would grow us through happy times just as much as he does through trying times. The truth is that it doesn’t happen unless people are humble and thankful for the good times. Most people become complacent in times of peace, needing to be awakened by trials in order to grow.

I would also argue that God’s rest can be found in the midst of whatever suffering you’re facing. Just like the eye of the hurricane, God can give us rest in the midst of a trial. His rest may look like inner peace in the face of a terrible diagnosis. It could be comforting words from a friend after the loss of a loved one. Of course, to find such rest requires constant communion with God. Even when the tears are falling, and your chest feels hollow and empty, draw near to God. Cry onto his chest, scream into his ears, and fall into his arms. He will be there.

Some of you may read this and feel like it is impossible. So I think it’s important to list what will happen if you don’t come into God’s rest in the middle of whatever you’re facing. You’ll probably feel lonely and afraid. That hollow feeling in your chest? It’ll get wider. You may continue to suffer physical symptoms, going to doctor after doctor to see what’s wrong, only to get mixed results. You may lash out at your friends or family members, feeling angry and bitter inside. Most of all, you won’t experience God’s rest.

Exhausting Work. Stress. Trauma. Trials. Suffering. All of these experiences and feelings are part of this life because of the nature of this fallen world. But one day, this will cease. One day, the world and all that is in it will be made new. Until that time, we can find rest in the one who will put to death the terrible sufferings of this world.

Let’s pray.

Dear Lord, please help me to come to you whenever I’m going through a trying time. Help me to find peace in the midst of the hurricane of my life. Draw me near to you and give me your rest. In Your Son’s Name, Amen.

The grace and glory of God is demonstrated through His love for us and through His faithfulness. We see here in Exodus that the children of Israel were coming out of the land of Egypt. They were free from hundreds of years of slavery. And in the going, God did not cause them to need their own fire. He provided fire by night and cloud cover by day.

As they left Egypt and walked into their new season, as they made their way to the Red Sea, the Lord was there with them every step of the way. For a people that had come out of a desperate situation, who were called to grow through a transition season, having God there as cloud by day and fire by night should have been an indication that they were not alone. It should have been an indication that God was with them and that He would fight for them. It should have increased their faith. And it didn’t.

As a people, as they went through the wilderness without water, as they went through the wilderness without drink, without sustenance, as they went through the wilderness to get to the Red Sea, there were people who were frustrated. There were people who wanted the comfort of Egypt. They wondered why Moses had taken them out.

We see it in Exodus 14 that they were terrified because Pharaoh followed behind them to take their lives. And even in that, the Lord moved the angel from before the people to behind the people so that the angel of the Lord could be there between them and Pharaoh. Trauma, isolation, and fear have a way of changing hearts and minds.

It has a way of impacting your body, your mind, your heart, and your emotions in ways that are evident even years later. The desire to isolate, the walls that we put up between ourselves and people, the fear that if you try again, that it will fail; these things shift our body chemistry, shift our minds, shift our hearts. They do, in fact, impact us for years in the future.

When Jesus comes in the New Testament, he comes in to reconcile the believer, the creation of God, back to God. He comes, and He begins to start breaking patterns. Patterns of fear, patterns of survival, patterns of being alone. He reminds the disciples and those that He taught while walking the earth that He and the Father were one, and that nobody could separate us from his hand. The Father gave, and only the Father could take away.

When we look at our lives, and we look at the situations we face, and we begin to examine even our own behaviors, you can see where there’s a mindset of being alone. Where you feel that you’re figuring it out on your own, and where you do your best to figure it out, make things work, and just hope it all works out. And in some cases, you may, in fact, be isolated. You may be alone.

However, you may be alone in the natural, but you’re not alone in the Spirit. And even though you may be going through a season of isolation, that season will not last always. If you are in a season of isolation or you are in a season of wondering what’s next, understanding that our God is with you here and now is important. He is with you. In the dark moments, He’s with you.

In the amazing moments, He’s with you. With every win, He’s with you. In your body, He’s with you. In your heart, He’s with you. The Bible tells us in Ephesians 3:20-21 that He is indeed with us and that the Spirit of the living God is at work to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we can ask or think.

Ephesians 3:20-21 reads:

²⁰ Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

²¹ Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. - Ephesians 3:20-21 KJV

Ephesians 3:20-21 shows us that there is a power at work within us. That power we know to be the Holy Spirit. That power we know to be what Jesus left in the earth when He went to His Father. So you are not alone, you are surrounded, and you are covered, and you are filled.

To understand this is the beginning of healing. To understand this is the beginning of our hearts and minds being transformed and being renewed by His Word. Not conformed to situations, not conformed to past pains, not conformed to brokenness that we’ve experienced in the past, and not conformed to the patterns or the thinking of this world. But transformed by the renewing of our minds in the Word, the renewing of our minds in the fellowship of other believers, the renewing of our minds through prayer and praise, the renewing of our minds by exercised faith.

Living faith that produces a tangible change, living faith that once exercised transforms us, expands our intimacy and trust in God. This is what transforms us. This is what reminds us and shows us that God is more than able, that he is right there with us. In the dark times and the moments where it feels like we are isolated, we can begin to change our hearts and minds with the truth of God’s words, to transform our hearts and minds with the truth of God’s words.

Now remember that your heart is a thinking organ, for the Bible tells us that as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. In Psalms 27:3 it decrees,

³ Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. - Psalms 27:3 KJV

This being that the Lord is with us. That’s what Psalm 27 is all about. The Lord is there with us, that the Lord is our light and our salvation, and no matter what is going on, that the Lord is with us and He is the strength of our lives.

The Psalm 27:1-3 in full. When we begin to walk with God and begin to remind our hearts of the truth of God’s Word, that God is with us and will never leave us, we can begin to show our hearts the truth so that our hearts are guarded, our hearts are covered, and our hearts are healed. So when it says in Proverbs 23:7, For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee, your heart actually does think.

And when your heart knows the truth of the Word as it is in Psalms 27:3 and Proverbs 23:7, you can begin to see the truth of the Word of the Lord. You can begin to see the change, and you can begin to receive in your heart that God is right here with you right now. These scriptures remind us that He is God, and when we write His Word on our hearts.

When we write His Word on our hearts in our minds, we’re beginning to connect two minds: the mind of our heart and the mind that God has given us to create something new, to stand in the truth of His Word, and to recognize that we are not alone.

We can begin to heal,

• we can begin to be reconciled in relationship,

• we can begin to be reconnected with people, and

• we can begin to be blessed by relationship again,

because our hearts are beginning to heal, because we are being transformed in the renewing of our minds.

Because we are thinking good thoughts, we are guarding our hearts, and the issues of life that come from it are issues that God not only heals but can transform, so that we can see tangible changes day in and day out. Because we are not alone.

Closing Devotional Prayer

My prayer for you:

Father, in the name of Jesus, thank you. Thank you for the mighty woman of God. Thank you for the grace and the glory. Thank you, God, that you are El Shaddai. You are the promise keeper. You are the Lord of our life. You are the strength, O God, that we seek.

I thank you that the mighty woman of God is ready to receive God, something new. She’s ready to open her heart, God, to what you have for her, God. She’s ready to reconcile disparate relationships where things are just not going the way she expected, or there’s grudges, or there’s hurt, and there’s pain. I thank you that the mighty woman of God has the courage to step fully into the truth of your Word: that she is not alone, not here, not now.

And that even when the enemy tried to convince her of that lie, Lord God, I thank you that her heart would be guarded in the name of Jesus, now and forevermore, that her heart is covered to know that she is not alone. And that just because someone may hurt or disappoint or betray her does not mean that you are not God.

I thank you for sudden shifts and transformations, God. I thank you that the mighty woman of God is ready to let go of everything old, is ready to step into the truth of who you are, God. She’s ready to see something new in the name of Jesus: that the Word of the Lord would take root, O God, and that she would see new fruit, O God.

Evidence that you are God, evidence, O God, that you are mighty, evidence, God, that you are faithful, miracles, signs and wonders following. Because, God, it is in your love that we see transformation. It is by your love that you cast out fear, for perfect love casteth out fear.

God, I thank you, God, that it is your love that sends forth your Spirit to do the work that is needed in our day‑to‑day lives, to be the demonstration before others that you are still God, and to remind us, O God, that we are the light on a hill that cannot be hidden and that we are covered by your grace and your glory.

I thank you that all things are working, O God, in the name of Jesus. I thank you for the fulfillment of your Word. I thank you for being the promise keeper, the great I AM. I thank you, Lord, and I pray in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.

Evenings can be difficult. They can be full of frustration, tiredness, and discouragement. You may feel like you haven’t accomplished much today. You may feel as if there are things that you aren’t even remotely finished with yet.

You know in your heart that you want to finish them. You know that you want them done. But the heaviness is just there. The doubts are there. Wondering whether you could have done some things right, maybe replaying the day in your mind, and wondering, are you doing the grace and glory of God?

Are you operating in the fullness? What does life look like when you are walking with God? How does the blessed life look in the Father? Because there will be ups and there will be downs and so on.

Evenings like this, when it’s easy to just ruminate on the issues of the day, on the failures, on the mistakes, the missteps, and the things you wish you could change, make a commitment to live in this moment, breathe in this moment, and be free of yesterday. Be free of every passing moment. Be free of it. Let it go.

You can’t change it. But what you can do is stand in the fullness of His Word and the strength of His Spirit, and you can receive what thus saith the Lord over your life from here. Now. Psalm 46:1 tells us that God is a very present help in the time of trouble. In times of trouble, He is there with us to help us, to assist, to bring clarity of vision.

He’s there. We are not alone. We don’t have to wonder about what’s next. We know who our God is. We know. And so when we look at the issues of the day, we look at whether or not we’ve done the right things, and we consider things we wish we could change, yesterday, today, years ago, but here and now we are very present. Here and now, we are rooted in the Word of the Lord. Here and now, we’re rooted in the reality that God is faithful.

• Here is where you take your stand.

• Here is where you rest in God’s Spirit.

• Here is where you let go of every fear, every distraction, all the weight, and every wall.

• Here is where you get your freedom.

• Here is where you receive your redemption.

The day is done. You can’t undo it. But what you can do is commit to walking with the Lord into the next moment, the next day, the next week, the next year. You can commit to walking with God every step of the way, knowing that our God is faithful, that he is with you, and he is more than able.

So often, we are discouraged from celebrating. We’re discouraged from sharing the goodness of God. We’re discouraged from blessing others with our testimonies. And when looking at a culture that says to just quietly be blessed by God, quietly see the goodness of God in your life, and maybe if it’s powerful enough or evocative enough, then of course, you can share it. If it evokes emotion, then you can share the story. If it’s to help someone, then you can share it.

We minimize the goodness and the grace of God to quiet victories and quiet wins, and we slowly but surely dim our light in the world that desperately needs the light of God, and desperately needs the love of the Father. The world desperately needs to know that God is more than able.

But in a world that hates Jesus, even celebrating God and celebrating His goodness and worshiping Him in song is discouraged. It is attacked, and it is essentially made to be evil. So what is good is painted as wrong, and what is wrong is painted as good.

In this season, a new song of victory is a prophetic move of the Lord. It is a prophetic move of God for you to decree through song, through worship, through trust, and through praise that God is making a way. In the cornerstone scripture, in Exodus, we see that the Lord has broken the sea over Pharaoh and Pharaoh’s army.

The chariots are underwater, the men are underwater, and the horses are all consumed under the weight of the Red Sea, which was open just long enough to allow through the Israelites. In the beginning of chapter 15, Moses and the people began to sing. They begin to glorify God. They begin to worship corporately of the goodness of God.

That is the song that Miriam is responding to. That is the worship that went out with the women with the timbrels and dances. They are glorifying God, and in the glorification of the Lord, they are honoring God with a song of victory. This is often referred to as the song of Moses in Exodus 15, and in these verses, Exodus 15:20–21, we see that Miriam begins to respond and encourage them to sing unto God who hath triumphed over the horse and the rider.

We see another demonstration in scripture of the same attack on worship. After His double victory over the Philistines in the valley of Rephaim, in 2 Samuel 5, David then gathers 30,000 men, and the gathering is so that he can go forth and retrieve the Ark of the Covenant (2 Samuel 6:2 KJV). He wants to retrieve the Ark of God and take it into the city of David, so all the young men of Israel are gathered. He goes forth to retrieve it.

The first time he tries to do it, Uzzah dies. Uzzah touches the cart while it is shaking; the Lord is incensed, and immediately, right there, Uzzah is struck down. So they leave the Ark of the Covenant in the house of Obededom, and they leave it there for a time. So much so that the house of Obededom is abundantly blessed.

They come back to David to report that the Ark of the Covenant is blessing Obededom in his house (2 Samuel 6:12 KJV). So David does it again. He failed the first time. They didn’t know how to handle the Ark. But the second time David goes forth, and as he goes forth, every six paces, they are giving sacrifices to the Lord (2 Samuel 6:13 KJV).

They are worshiping God.

They are blessing the Lord. Step by step, pace after pace, on that long journey, they successfully get the Ark of the Covenant back into the city of David, formerly the city of Zion. And when they get it back, David begins to dance. The dancing that he does is in worship. That worship was powerful. The leaping and the dancing were exuberant. It was a celebration.

Michal, Saul’s daughter, saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord. He had just achieved the task of traveling with the Ark of the Covenant in a way that honored the Lord, that did not displease God, and that made it into the city of David. She despised him in her heart (2 Samuel 6:16 KJV). That was not the only thing: she didn’t just hate him in her heart; she decided to say something.

In 2 Samuel 6:20 it states:

²⁰ Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!

And in verse 21, David states:

²¹ And David said unto Michal, It was before the Lord, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel: therefore will I play before the Lord.

²² And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour.

²³ Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death. 2 Samuel 6:21-23 KJV

The consequence of her mocking David was for her to be childless until the day she died. This is how seriously God took mocking.

We see it also in the Book of Numbers, where they chided with Moses, and punishments, and there were judgments that were meted out by the Lord as they even came through the wilderness. The mocking, the chiding, the murmuring is some of the language used in the Book of Numbers to describe the behavior of mocking men of God and mocking the leaders.

In this case, it’s not just for men. When we go forth in the world, and we are celebrating, and we are joyous, people often attack that which makes them feel insecure or that which they feel is unpolished, or that which they feel is less than the way you should operate.

That spirit that wants to attack that worship, after the glory that you’ve walked through, after the season that you walked through, after the victory that you stepped into, that spirit desires to muffle your praise, to muffle that song of victory, to muffle that worship, to muffle the dances, and to rain on your parade.

As is often stated, this is a spirit, and that spirit is full of vanity. The spirit

• hates to see the joy of the Lord,

• hates to see people celebrating the Lord,

• hates to see the light of God shining through your worship, through your praise, through your victory, through your celebration, and through your song.

This is a demonstration of exactly what today’s devotional is about. It is about worshiping God in a season. It is about worshiping Him in the midst of great victory and in the midst of just believing for who He is: dancing before the Lord, worshiping God.

Anyone who has an issue with that is stifling worship, stifling a demonstration, stifling honor that you’re given unto God from your very being, from the joy, from your faith, and from your accomplishment of a thing. To celebrate, to walk in joy, and to be full of his light is our assignment. Isaiah 60:1–3 tells us to arise and shine, for the light of the Lord hath come.

It states:

¹ Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.

² For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

³ And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

Despite the darkness, God desires for you to be the light.

He desires for you to sing a song of victory. He desires for you to dance before him, to worship him as David did. This is part of our worship, and we don’t have to wait until we bring the glory into it. Isaiah 60:2 says that the glory shall be seen upon thee. The glory of God is on you and your worship and your joy in your magnifying the Lord.

This is why that song of victory is a necessity. This is why celebrating what the Lord has done, regardless of how small it may seem, is so essential. Because it’s not small. The move of God, even in a small thing, is a testament of His love for us. It is a testament that He is a promise‑keeper and that He is a way‑maker, and He is worthy of our praise. He is worthy of our worship. Bless Him and release a new song in Jesus’ name.

My prayer for you:

Father, in the name of Jesus: I thank you. I thank you, Lord God, for a song of deliverance. I thank you, O God, for a song of healing. I thank you, God, for a song of joy. Whatever song you have for the mighty woman of God, I pray for the release of that song upon her now. For Lord, you are with her. You will never leave her nor forsake her.

God, I thank you for the outpouring of your Spirit. I thank you for the weighty glory of God. You are the promise‑keeper, the great I AM, the King of kings and the Lord of lords, and there is nobody like you. There is nothing above you, O God, who can stand against you, Jehovah? You are our God, and you reign over the heavens and over the earth.

I thank you for the mighty woman of God. I pray a blessing upon her, upon the work of her hands. You are the King of kings and the Lord of lords. God, have your way. I thank you, Lord, and I pray in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.

All throughout scripture, God shows us these mighty women of God who are called. They are called to pray. They’re called to war. And they’re called to risk their lives for their people, for their families, for restoration to come upon her and upon all those connected to her.

We see it with Abigail, who turned the heart of David and kept him from killing every man in her home (1 Samuel 25 KJV). Every child, every man, every boy was going to be slaughtered that day, and Abigail went forth with tidings, with kind words, with repentance, and with a reminder of who David was in Chris: anointed and being prepared for the throne.

God has so much more for each and every one of us.

As mighty women of God, we have the capacity to speak to what that is in our lives, to speak to that peace, to receive in our hearts that the Lord is with us, to change everything, to stand on the Word and see the will of God manifest in an entirely new way. A way that maybe we did not think could ever be done, in a way that changes our family’s blessings: their peace, their favor, and their portion.

Because of our obedience, because of our prayers, because of our grace, our love. Whether we’re working or whether we’re at home, the Lord has blessed you to do the great work. He’s blessed you to bless your home, to bless your family, and to bless all those who come in contact with you. The Lord has called us to great works in and out of the house of the Lord, in and out of our own homes, whether going into the city or out in the country.

The Lord blesses us in the city, and he blesses us in the fields. We are covered by the Lord our God. And the blessing of God goes with us wherever we go because the Bible tells us He will never leave us nor forsake us. Let that be your portion tonight: that the Lord is with us and that He’s keeping you, and that as you are called to stand in incredible situations for your family, He’s right there with you.

I pray that as you face overwhelming odds in your finances, in your health, and in your relationships, the Lord is with you, and He is ready to walk with you into miracles, signs, and wonders. In Him, our God is waiting for you to lift up your hands, to trust, to know that He is God, and to receive in your heart that He is able and that he is doing it for you. That His will is for you to prosper even as your soul prospers.

So tonight as you rest, receive in your heart that it is finished, that the Lord is with you, that he’s mighty to save, mighty to deliver, and mighty to set free. In Jesus’ name. May the Lord bless you this evening. I’ll see you in the next Evening Devotional. Good night.

There are going to be ebbs and flows in life. Years of plenty and years where getting by will be the blessing. In these seasons that are up and down, and in the ebb and flow of life, if not for the grace and glory of God, many would not understand that the years of resistance, and the years where things move more slowly, are the grace of God as well.

His grace does not just cover the blessings and the favor, but his grace also covers the years where we are being sustained by the mighty hand of God.

Ups and downs. This is the issue of life.

Moments of plenty and moments where it feels like there’s just barely enough. And throughout every season, God is still preeminent. He is still God. He is still ordering our steps. He’s still guiding us along this journey. So even though we may feel as if we are late or delayed or behind, God is still God. Even though we may feel that we are trailing in comparison to others, God is walking with each of us individually.

This walk is one where you and God are co‑creating together in the grace and glory of God over your life. So even in seasons where it felt like there was no movement, in times when it feels like you’ve waited too long or it has been too far delayed, God is faithful to remind us that He holds time in his hands.

He sits outside of time and has the ability to transform, to renew, and to bring about deliverance, sudden breakthroughs, sudden increase, sudden turnarounds. So even in our years of waiting, in the times where we feel like the delays are heavy, it is in our best interest to hold fast to the confessions of our faith.

Hebrews 10:23 shows us that many times, as we’re waiting on God, there will be tests, there will be trials; even our patience will be cultivated by these times of weight, by these times of just making it. These times and seasons of being sustained by His mighty right hand. In those seasons, God is still God and we are still able to do what we have been called to do, to operate in the grace and glory of God.

It just may not be on our schedule.

It doesn’t mean that it is finished or that it’s done. The Lord goes forth to restructure, to rebuild, to break and to heal by His Spirit and according to the plans that he has over our lives and the plans that he has to prosper each and every one of us. This is the journey. This is the outpouring.

This is how we begin to understand the terminology that is “never too late.” We can turn back, and we can repent, as the cornerstone scriptures show us. We can go before the Lord ready to surrender to him in every single way. The fasting, the weeping, the surrendering of our hearts that Joel 2:12 describes is essential.

This rending, this surrendering, this fasting, this giving it all? This is what allows the beginning of breakthrough. This is what transforms our hearts and minds. This is what breaks us from conforming to the patterns of the world and leads to being transformed by the renewing of our minds. This transformation and this renewal, this is the grace and glory of God.

There is no confusion in God.

He knows what He’s doing in us. But even in our limited understanding and in our finite beings, we see these things, and we may think that it’s over, that it’s too late, that it’s done, and that it is finished. That God didn’t come through when we needed Him, or that somehow He might have willed something different. And there are times when God may will a different outcome.

He may have a different desire. But that is not a reason to give up or to believe that it’s too late. When it is His will, God does it. He removes, he binds, he delivers, he uproots, and he breaks free in the name of Jesus, in His own name. He does this because it’s never too late. He’s the God that saw many dead in scripture and saw them as sleeping, because he sees life and death, and he sees “too late” and “on time” differently than the way we see it.

Thank God that His ways are higher than our ways and his thoughts higher than our thoughts. What if we always got things when we thought we needed exactly as we desired them, right when we wanted them? What if everything always happened exactly when we desired or when we willed it? Would we trust in Him? Would we lean on Him?

Would we be before Him, leaning not on our own understanding, but acknowledging Him in all of our ways? If it was easy, if it was always available, if it was always when we expected? Would faith be needed if it was always what we expected and it didn't require waiting, passionate patience, and holding fast to the crown that God has given us? All of these things are a part of our walk.

So, no, it’s never too late. No, God can do that. It’s not too hard for God. It’s not too hard for the Lord. He can bring about great change and do the impossible with the person who is ready, with the woman who submits, and with the heart that is full of His glory. He can do all things by His mighty right hand. Receive that today and walk in it in Jesus’ name.

Closing Devotional Prayer

My prayer for you:

Father, in the name of Jesus, thank you for the mighty woman of God. Thank you for this morning. Thank you for the weighty glory of God. Lord, I thank you, O God, that everything that is not like you is breaking; that we can turn to you in and out of season. That we can trust you, for you are the Lord our God. You are mighty to save, mighty to deliver, and mighty to set free.

Thank you, King of Glory. You are the great I Am, the King of kings and the Lord of lords. I thank you, Lord God, for the shift. I thank you, God, for the outpouring. I thank you, God, for the weighty glory of God. I thank you for uprooting every lie of the enemy, O God, and casting down all imagination and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. I give you glory, O God, that this day will be exactly what you ordained it to be.

That every weapon that is formed will not prosper. For the weapons are formed, O God, but you are mighty to stand in the midst. For this battle is not hers, O God; it is yours. I thank you that her children are blessed, and her family is blessed.

I thank you for the weighty glory of God this morning. I pray that the glory of God will go forth to break, to bind, and to uplift; to refill her, O God, with your Spirit and your love; to break every hindering spirit, every lie, every principality, and every dark force. It can feel really hard to remain focused on the thing. It seems like sometimes when you’re starting up, you’re getting ready, you’re putting one foot out there, that immediately resistance starts. And if you felt that way, if you’ve noticed that, you would be correct. The moment you begin to step out in a way that is guided by faith, you’re walking out by Spirit, not by flesh.

And the moment you do that, you begin to activate something: a testing, a trial, resistance. Immediately, you are challenged. Not because it’s the wrong time to step out, and not because you’re doing the wrong thing at the wrong time. No. This is because the enemy cannot stop the will of God in your life. But he can do his best to undermine you the same way he attempted to undermine the prophet Elijah.

After Elijah had had the biggest victory, had torn down the altar of Baal, prayed and called down fire from heaven, one missive, a bit of intimidation from Jezebel was enough to send him into the wilderness by way of Damascus. And on the way, he decided to leave a servant, to isolate himself, and to sit under a tree and say, Enough, God, take my life. I’m ready to die (1 Kings 19:1-4 KJV). That’s what he spoke. But the Lord had more for him. There was another plan for Elijah. God wasn’t finished with him yet.

When you are ready to step out, you are doing good work, and you are seeing breakthroughs, one door open, one door shifting, one table turning in your favor, it is normal to see resistance. Almost expected. Think it not strange. Think it not strange when people begin to resist you. Think it not strange when things seem to get more difficult. Think it not strange when it feels like you’re taking two steps forward and three steps back (1 Peter 4:12-14 KJV).

This is the way the enemy decides to demoralize you and to block you from where you’re going. And nothing can do that. By faith, we are called to press. By faith, we’re called to tarry in the name of Jesus. By faith, the Bible tells us in Hebrews 10:23, to hold fast to the confession of our faith, for he who promised is faithful.

And this is the truth: our God is faithful. And our God is more than able to shift everything, to break down every wall, to turn tables, and to help you overcome by His Spirit. He speaks to the mountains. He did it in Zechariah 4:6-7. He spoke to the mountain that was standing before Zerubbabel. Not by might, not by power, but by God’s Spirit. That is what you’re looking for this evening.

So sit in the presence of the living God. Rest and receive by His Spirit that all things are made new, giving thanks in all things, as it tells us in 1 Thessalonians 5:18. In 1 Thessalonians, it tells us to be thankful in all things, for this is the will of God towards us. To be thankful in every circumstance. Tonight, be thankful that despite the resistance, despite what is happening, despite the overwhelm, God is with you here and now.

May the grace and the glory of God be over you tonight. I pray that as you rest before Him, as you begin to journal, giving God glory, counting it all joy, and as you begin to just thank God for every good thing, thank God for every wall. Thank God for every block, thank God for everyone, and thank God for those that you were required to forgive who tested your faith. The situations that are testing you now, and the overwhelm that makes you feel as if it’s not worth it.

Thank God for it, because this is the will of God towards you: that you will be tested and proven and found in His glory, found in His marvelous light, to be ready, to be prepared, to be strengthened by your faith. May the Lord bless you.

Father. Bless the mighty woman of God tonight. Cover her, God, and help her to move forward in Jesus’ name. Amen. I’ll see you in the next Evening Devotional.

The Bible tells us that even though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh. It tells us clearly that our battle is one that is mighty through God, mighty through His Spirit, mighty through the weapons of our warfare, which are not carnal. In other words, they’re not natural.

This is not us fighting a good fight in terms of doing what we can do, making things happen, making them work, and calling up people and making things change. Shifting, being passionate about changing our lives, or affecting change for others, is powerful. Working really hard to try to fix things and, you know, pay off debts and pay off our homes and create good lives for our children, these are all things that we do in the natural because we live in a natural world.

But when it comes to walking with God, we do that in spirit and in truth. We do it in the natural, but we also do it by His Spirit. Even the way we approach life is not to be seen as conformed to the world, but rather transformed by the renewing of our mind (Romans 12:2 KJV). So not thinking like the world, not thinking like society, not thinking like people who rely only on their own understanding.

But, versus that, we are called to sit in the weight of glory. We’re called to trust in the Lord our God. We’re called to acknowledge Him in all of our ways so that He can direct our paths. All of this is in the Word. We are not called to live natural lives with an occasional spiritual encounter with God in church or, you know, in Bible study.

We’re called to live lives that are immersed in His Spirit and full of His glory. We’re called to live life in pursuit of the grace and glory of God, and that we’re following the Lord and that we’re dwelling in the house of the Lord all the days of our lives, as it tells us in Psalm 23.

The cornerstone scripture today talks about sowing and reaping. And the sowing and reaping is flesh versus spirit. Very clearly, flesh is our desires, our wants, our needs, versus spirit: prayer, fasting, walking with God, meditating day and night.

The sowing that we do, the way that we invest our time, matters. And while we are yet building the world in a way, we’re building our lives in a way that requires a lot of hours: working in the world, working in corporate America, working in our families, working in our homes, working with our children, Working, working, constantly working, moving, and producing.

The Lord says, those who sow into the flesh will reap corruption. But he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

So to sow into the flesh, to sow into the desires, the heart, the wants, all of those things eventually cause corruption to come up because our hearts can be deceitful. Our hearts can be submitted to God, or they could literally have one foot in the world. And so our hearts, our emotions, and our responses are not always accurate. They’re not always real. They’re not always grounded in biblical reality, and they’re not always grounded in the truth.

And so when we sow into that flesh, those hearts, those emotions that we have, we are indeed potentially reaping corruption. Sowing into the flesh is never the answer. Sowing into the Spirit, that we may receive the desires of our heart, that we may receive the things that God says are for us, that we may see the tangible blessings of God and the favor of God, and that we are covered, whether abased or abounding?

This comes from sowing by His Spirit. Sowing to the Spirit and pouring in not by might nor by power, but by His Spirit. Moving according to our faith, not according to our flesh. This is a decision because, yes, we must live in the world, but we are not of the world.

We are simply in it. We were having a transformative experience through it, growing day by day, pressing towards the prize as a mark of the high calling in Christ Jesus. That is our walk. Our walk here is a spiritual walk that has spiritual and physical implications for ourselves and our families.

So as we’re sowing by His Spirit, we’re sowing into the Spirit, we’re pouring out. We will see tangible changes in our lives because we will reap of the Spirit. Those things will reap life. We will reap joy. We will reap peace when we walk with God by His Spirit and not simply by our own understanding.

Not by our flesh, not just by what we believe that we need in this moment, which may be partially accurate. But there are things that we need that we have no thought of. Remember that the Bible tells us in the book of Isaiah that God’s ways are not our ways. As it tells us that God’s ways are not our ways, it actually gives us examples.

And so in Isaiah 55:8-9, it states:

⁸ For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.

⁹ For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. - Isaiah 55:8-9 KJV

Isaiah 55:8–9 is very clear in that we are called by God, and that His thoughts, the things that he has for us, are so much higher than what man can tell us, so much higher than what our flesh can tell us, and so much higher than what society believes they need or demand of us.

We have a walk with God, an assignment to walk with Him, not according to the ways of this world, but according to God’s ways alone. According to His desire, His will, whether or not it makes sense to anyone on the earth. We all have this divine assignment to come before the Lord and pray, to know that God has the final say over our lives, over our homes, and over our finances. He is God alone. He is El Shaddai.

He’s the conqueror. Our banner. The victory that we need day in and day out. He is the King of glory, the great I Am. And He keeps his promises. No distractions, just yes and amen. No fear, just the glory of God.

And if we are reaping what we sow, then sowing into the Spirit is our primary desire, our primary assignment. It is to sow into His Spirit, sow and build in the way He’s calling us to build, live in the way He’s calling us, the way of trust and the way He’s calling us to trust. Not by might nor by power, not according to what we think we can do and what we think we have together.

But what if God is calling us to operate by His Spirit to a whole new place, a whole new assignment, an entirely different level, a greater capacity than we ever thought possible? That’s going to take stretching. That’s going to take extending our hearts and minds. It’s going to take moving beyond our own limits and understanding, and acknowledging Him so that He can show us the way.

There is so much more. There’s more that He has for you. There’s more that He desires for you. But we must be tuned in by His Spirit. We must be locked in and ready to walk with Him by faith, not by sight. And we must accept in our hearts that we may want things to happen now, but we can trust that it will be done in due season.

Closing Devotional Prayer

My Prayer for You:

Father, in the name of Jesus, thank you. Thank you for your mercies are new every morning. Thank you, God, for your faithfulness. Thank you for the weighted glory of God. Thank you for the fire, God. I think that the mighty woman of God is going forth, O God, with the word this morning.

I thank you, God, that this word will go forth over her life, over her finances, over her money. O God, You are God alone, and you have the final say. Thank you for being a keeper, Lord. Thank you for breaking everything that’s not like you. Thank you for scattering the hand of the enemy. Lord, you are God alone, and you have the mighty woman of God in the palm of your hand.

And the Bible tells us, God, that nothing can take us out of your hand. Nothing can take us out of the hand of you, King Jesus, for you and the Father are one. That’s what it says in the Bible. So, Lord, I thank you, God, for your word. I thank you, O God, for being God in the midst of us.

And I thank you, Lord, that you are here, that you are faithful and that you’re more than able. I thank you, Lord, and I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

The Bible tells us in Romans not to be conformed to this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, that we may know what is the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God.

And when the Bible tells us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, that renewing happens through Scripture, through prayer, through fasting, but also through sitting in the presence of the living God. Praying and resting with Him, worshiping in the fellowship with other believers, and connecting with those who are walking on the journey with us in accountability and in mutual support and love.

God gives us so many avenues to walk with Him, so many things that we can do to stay upright in the grace and glory of God. Even with all of that, sometimes we fall short of the glory of God. We make mistakes, we say things we wish we could change, we do things we wish we could undo. And we wonder how we can move forward knowing that those things are just in the atmosphere; they never go away.

But God restores. We utter the words, and yes, these things are in the past, but God makes all things new. He restores us in this hour. He keeps us in the time of trouble. He turns the tables for us day in and day out.

He is faithful. He is our great God.

So when we look at situations that we wish we could change, things we wish we could do, we unintentionally get caught up in things and before we know it, we look up and realize, “man, what am I doing?” In those moments when you look up and realize:

The decisions you make in those times that you look up, that’s the decision that God is waiting on.

He’s waiting to see if you will turn to Him. He’s waiting to see if you will receive grace. He’s waiting to see if you will let the old thing pass away so that the new thing can come. There’s a grace and the glory that’s being released over your life; it is coming. It is undeniable.

But the chains of the old you, the things of this world, the patterns that the enemy operates in, it’s easy to get caught up, it’s easy to drift, it’s easy to get distracted. But the Lord has already provided. He’s provided a way of escape. He provided a way for us to repent, to release, to let go of the things that we cannot change and take hold of things that we can affect here in our future.

To sit in His presence, to repent, to know that it’s wrong to let go and to do what is right in the Lord, to do us right in His Spirit, do us right before it gets too far or any further than it’s already gotten. To turn around, no matter how comfortable it is and to pour out our hearts before God in truth and receive correction and direction in love.

There is always a way out.

There’s always a way to overcome. Here in the cornerstone Scripture, we see that Joshua is shown with the filthy garments. And he’s shown being before the Lord, and before the Lord, as Joshua stands there in the filthy garments, the Lord says to him to take away the filthy clothes. He says, I have caused the iniquity to pass from thee.

So the filth was the iniquity, the wrongness, the sin, the turning away from God, the walking in the ways of the world. That’s what the filthy garments look like now. They may not be filthy to the world. It may be where the world says it’s not so bad.

But this is where the Bible comes in, in the scripture where it tells us in Romans 12 to be upright in the Lord. It says in Romans 12:2 in the King James Version:

² And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. - Romans 12:2 KJV

This is where Romans 12:2 steps in, and it tells us that we don’t have to do what the world is doing. And yes, it may conform to the world, but it does not mean that it is of God.

It may not be a big deal to the world, but to God, it may come up before him as filthy rags. That’s what he tells us in scripture, that we are not as righteous as we suppose, that when we come before God, there are things that we don’t even consider that are causing a stitch or a smell, or it is causing a reaction to our God. And so in Isaiah 64:6, it states:

⁶ But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. - Isaiah 64:6

Like the wind. The ease of it. One step at a time, one moment at a time, day after day. And the next thing you know, you look up, and you wish you could go back and maybe go back to center and see what it is you can do to change things, to get back to the truth of who you are in Christ Jesus.

That’s what happens when you get off track, when it feels like you think you’re doing the right thing, and you look up, and it’s not really the will of God for you to do that thing, but it is the will of God that it be done. But not necessarily by you.

There are so many things that God calls us to and so many things that he doesn’t. It is when we start operating in our own understanding that we’ll pick up the weight that God did not give us. We’ll pick up the crosses that God did not give us. We’ll pick up assignments and purposes that God did not give us, while ignoring the things that God has given us.

Ignoring the things that don’t seem glamorous, ignoring the thing that is uncomfortable, ignoring a discipline that’s required to grow. All of those things are what happen when we lean into our own understanding, and we fail to acknowledge God in all of our ways. God is waiting right there to give us direction. And the cornerstone scripture shows us, when you continue to read, that there is a path to redemption.

When you read through Zechariah 3 in this fullness, it’s a pretty short chapter with about 10 verses. You see that this is just the beginning. The Lord telling him to take off the filthy clothes because he has taken away his iniquity. That’s just the beginning. The angel of the Lord then speaks to Joshua and says to him in Zechariah 3:7:

⁷ Thus saith the Lord of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.

⁸ Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the Branch. - Zechariah 3:7 KJV

Now, remember in Isaiah 11:1-2, that there’s a scripture that talks about the Branch. In Isaiah 11:1-2 in the King James Version. It states:

And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

² And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord; - Isaiah 11:1-2, KJV

That the Branch is saying: this is what God is doing. This is what God is birthing forth, is that Branch. He will bring forth his Branch. Now we are so blessed that God does wash away sin. He does restore us. He does keep us. He does strip us of iniquity and sin the way he did in the beginning of Zechariah 3.

But going beyond that stripping away, there’s a warning in verse 7. And that warning in verse 7 is: “if you will walk in my way”, meaning if you will walk in the goodness of God, if you will walk into obedience of the Lord our God, if you will walk with Him past iniquities, distractions, overwhelm, worry, fear, shame, busyness.

Beyond all of that, if you will walk with the Lord our God and walk in His ways, those moments that seem to trickle in where it seems like the enemy is taking root or taking a stronghold, you can begin to rip it up. You can begin to rip it up, you can tear it down, and you can begin to walk in liberty. Suddenly, you can begin to walk into liberty.

Now. We don’t have to wait months and months and years and look up and wonder where time has gone. We have the time now, in the name of Jesus, to walk with God, to turn our hearts to him, to turn away from our wicked ways, and to trust him, to love on him, to trust that he is El Shaddai and that even though we are human, even though we make mistakes, that He will show us a better way.

He will show us a way. He will show us a way of escape. And that way of escape is exactly what a lot of us need right now. We need that way out, that way up, that way to tear down so that we can be rebuilt in Christ Jesus.

My Prayer for You:

Father, I thank you for the mighty woman of God. I thank you for the breaking, God. I thank you, God, that there are no more distractions in you. Let every wall come down in the name of Jesus. I thank you for the grace and glory of God. Thank you, God.

Thank you for the breaker here and now, that the anointing breaks the yoke, O God. Go forth, O God, and break every chain in the name of Jesus, that there will be liberty. For where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, O God, there is joy. I thank you, O God, for the liberty of God, with what you’ve given us.

By your sacrifice on the cross, you’ve already paid the cost. So, God, I give you glory. I bless you, God. The mighty woman of God is ready, O God.

We’re ready to face this. We’re ready to look at what we have not taken action on. We’re ready to look at the things where we have kind of gone astray. Lord, I thank you that you can call us back home at any moment. Remind us, O God, of things that we’re operating in that you’ve no longer graced us for.

O God, show us the way forward, the way to move with you, the way to walk in your ways, that we may be blessed, O God. The way to walk in your ways, that we may not be full of distraction or dismay. Teach us, O God, to walk in your ways, that the land will be prosperous, that our heart will be filled, and that the glory of God will go amongst us.

That it will go before us, that we will be like a shining light on the hill that cannot be hidden. I thank you, Lord God. I thank you, Lord. I thank you, and I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

There are two kinds of fiction writers: plotters and pantsers. What are they? Plotters meticulously detail every event within their novel before they write it. Pantsers are those who “write by the seat of their pants,” which means they don’t plan anything but write via whim. I consider myself a bit of both. When I write my fantasy books, I often know the end result, a few of the plot points, and have a general understanding of my characters. However, unlike plotters, I often discover the details of my characters, setting, and plot as I write them. Sometimes, my books take different turns than I initially thought they would.

God wrote your story, and he wrote the story of the entire world. That is what the author of Hebrews meant when he said: “his works were finished from the foundation of the world.” God already knows every action people will take, small or large. Whether or not people have free will or their actions are dictated is a matter of debate among Christians. However, what is not usually debated is that God is sovereign. This means that God’s supreme rule and his ultimate plan for believers is not usually questioned by Bible-believing Christians (Romans 8:28; Jeremiah 29:11).

Knowing that God has a plan and his works are already written should be reassuring. Not because we are pawns that have no choice but to move forward on a chessboard, but because we are God’s children, sometimes living within a realm we cannot understand. For example, would you be alright going on a road trip or a plane if you didn’t know the destination? Would you be alright taking detours and wandering your entire life? Most people would say no. We want to know the destination and even the stops along the way. Yet, life doesn’t work like that. We don’t always know how a day will play out, even if we try our best to make it happen a certain way. God does, and his plans are good.

So, even if the child throws a fit and won’t take a nap on time, or if that one annoying co-worker happens to be worse than usual, we can know that there’s a reason for those things happening that day. Maybe it is to teach us patience. Maybe it is to teach us love. But those actions are not random, like throwing darts at a board with a blindfold on. No, instead, we can know that the hand that throws the darts is aiming for something specific, and that is very reassuring. Instead of dwelling on how everything went wrong that day, rest in knowing that God has written your story, and he knows the end.

Let’s pray.

Dear Lord, please help me when I am anxious about the unknowns of this life. Guide me with your infinite wisdom and grant me peace in knowing you have a plan. In Your Son’s Name, Amen.

When we see the creation story, we often see the story of God creating the earth with his voice. We see Him speaking life into existence over a six-day period, telling the oceans where to stop, creating heaven, and separating the waters above from the waters below.

We see him operating as the Creator, and in our minds and in our hearts, we know that He is able to do what He says He’s able to do because we’re standing in the reality of it. But when we look at our lives and when we look at the issues of life and all of the obstacles, we don’t often see ourselves and our lives in the same way. We inherently know that God created the earth, and He created Adam and Eve. But we don’t see how this life, this moment, is made in God.

We don’t often see how we are made in God.

This inherently causes many of us to feel overwhelmed, depressed, oppressed, frustrated with life, wondering if we’re doing the right thing, the wrong thing, if we’re walking in season, and if we’re doing what pleases God. We begin to wander. And because we begin to wonder about what we should do and how we should show up, we get further and further away from being made in God. We get further away from being present in God. We get further and further away from our Creator.

This is a trick of the enemy to cause us to feel as if our lives are arbitrary, as if we’re just walking out our lives, struggling the best way we can, and trying to figure it out on our own. That is a lie here and now. You are made in God. You were made through Him, the one who was there in the beginning. The first thing to consider is that in the beginning, Jesus was there in creation.

And in John 1:1-3, it says:

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

² The same was in the beginning with God.

³ All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. - John 1:1-3 KJV

Meaning without God, without Jesus, in the beginning with God, none of what happened in Genesis happened.

Jesus wasn’t just a bystander who maybe was there, maybe wasn’t. No. It says that in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and through the Word everything was made. Through Jesus, everything was made, including you and me.

In the Amplified Version, that same scripture reads:

1 In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (^[a]Christ), and the Word was with God, and ^[b]the Word was God Himself. ² He was [continually existing] in the beginning [co-eternally] with God. ³ All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him not even one thing was made that has come into being. - John 1:1-3 AMP

So we see here in this scripture that we were made in Jesus. We were made in the fullness of His being. We were made in the Word. To further solidify that, John 1:14 states:

¹⁴ And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. - John 1:14 KJV

So the Word was made flesh. So Jesus came to redeem what was made through Jesus. He came to redeem what was made through Him. The Son of God and the Son of Man, fully God and fully man. And we were made through Him in the image of the Word. And then the Word made flesh came to reconcile us back to the God that we fell away from.

So redemption is not just the start. It’s actually the restructuring. It is the redeeming of the one through whom we were formed.

Everything in your life is just a result.

And everything in your life can change. What does not change is right here in this moment: that you were made through Jesus. And Jesus came, endured the cross, died, went to the grave, and was resurrected so that we can have the Holy Spirit dwelling in us.

You are made in God. And we have the Spirit of God in each one of us who believes, each one of us who receives, each one of us who’s a follower of Christ and has been baptized by His Spirit. You are made in God. Your children are made in God. Your husband is made in God.

People who haven’t accepted God, people who love God but they have issues in their hearts, people who literally give their all to God but can’t seem to find their footing: we were all made in God. And because we’re made in God, we know that this world is not our home. We’re just walking through it.

We were made in God.

And how we walk this day cannot be from a place of feeling as if God is far from us, or wondering if He hears us, and wondering how to walk out this day. No. The way that we can walk, being ambassadors of Christ in the earth, is to know that here and now we are made in Him, and His Spirit is in us. We are covered, and we are filled. We have what we need to be complete.

Regardless of the circumstances, we can be content, whether abased or abounding, because God is with us and His grace is sufficient and His strength is made perfect in our weakness (Philippians 4:12, 2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV). We are not far from God. We simply need to sit and remember who we are in Christ Jesus. We need to remember that we came through Jesus and that Jesus came to deliver us. The Messiah and our Source. In the beginning was the Word, and man was made in the image of Jesus.

In Genesis, it says, Let us make man in our image (Genesis 1:26-28 KJV). We have all that we need right here, right now. We bear the image of Christ here and now. And being image bearers, we have the authority and the dominion to change everything by faith, not by might nor by power, but by His Spirit that is at rest within us.

This is how we approach the day. Full of glory, full of hope, full of peace, and full of love. Because perfect love casts out fear. Perfect love covers us and casts out everything that’s not like God. And it’s the love of God which has paid the cost. And it’s our reminder that we are no longer lost. We are no longer overwhelmed. We don’t have to be afraid.

We can be at rest in his presence. We can trust God in Jesus’ name.

My Prayer for You:

Father, in the name of Jesus, thank you. Thank you for the grace and the glory of God. Thank you for being Alpha and Omega, God, the beginning and the end. Thank you for breaking everything that’s not like you. Thank you for the healing. Thank you for the joy.

Thank you, Lord God, for you are the Sovereign God, the Holy One, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Thank you for covering this mighty woman of God. Thank you for breaking everything that’s not like you. Thank you for restoring the joy of our salvation. Thank you. Thank you for lifting this mighty woman of God right where she is.

And I pray in the name of Jesus that the Spirit of the Lord go forth in a mighty way. For Lord God, you are able to do what you said that you would do. And there is nothing in this world that can stand against you. Lord God, if you be for us, who can be against us? I thank you for the mighty woman of God.

I thank you for her family being blessed. I thank you for her home being blessed. I thank you for her finances being blessed. I thank you for her marriage being blessed. Now this little‑known story of resurrection at the mere voice of the Lord is one that speaks to the way Jesus saw the end of a thing. Where many people saw death, the city was mourning, the mother was grieving, and the son was dead. The Lord came upon the scene and saw exactly what He saw.

He saw the dead child being carried. He saw this man who was the provider for the widow. In that time, it was sons, and it was husbands that cared for women, and so, as a widow, her son was her provision. And now that her son was passing, this woman was in a situation where the compassion of Jesus was awakened.

And in the compassion of Jesus, he went up, and he spoke directly to the dead man. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise, immediately reviving this young man, bringing him back to life, and he began to speak from a state of death. The shock waves that went through the mourning community, the shock waves that went over the disciples and the people who came with him to the city gate weren’t a light thing to see.

And the scripture says that the fear of the Lord was upon them, that they were indeed scared. They were scared, lo and behold. So what it says in Luke 7:16, it states:

¹⁶ And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people. - Luke 7:16 KJV

This is Luke 7:16 in the King James Version. They recognized the power of God, and, of course, it was rumored about that Jesus brought this young man from the dead, brought him back to life, and completely transformed the faith of everyone watching.

Often when we’re seeing the end of a thing, we’re seeing it through natural eyes. We’re seeing it through our flesh, through our pain, through our experiences, and through our finite understanding of the plans that God has for our lives. But what God sees could be completely different.

Where we see the end, God may very well see the beginning of something new. He may see an opportunity to bless you. He may see that in the midst of what you are struggling with, that He wants to shift and change things and bless you. He wants to open up opportunity for you.

Because you see the end doesn’t mean it is the end. Just because it looks finished to you doesn’t mean that it’s done. When we walk through life with an earthly mindset and we walk through the world by what we see versus what we believe by faith, we are inherently operating in limitation. We’re operating in our own understanding. We’re leaning to what we know, and we’re operating inside of something that’s finite, limited, closed‑end.

And when God comes in through prayer, through fasting, through inviting God into a situation, through dear friends, through a friend that’s closer than a brother, through family, through a word of the Lord from someone close, when God comes in, something shifts. When he comes in, revelation comes, ideas come in, vision comes, and what may seem dead on arrival, it may seem done, all of a sudden, that thing, that finished thing, something opens up.

And it may not be that God reopens a door. It may be that He shows you that the door closing was a blessing. It may not be that He will resurrect the dead thing, but it could be that He lets you know that the thing had to die, that something new could be born. In this case, he had compassion on the widow, and out of that compassion decided right then and there to speak to this young man, to look past the dead thing, to look past the end, to look past the natural situation, and to speak life into eternity and say, Arise.

God has the final say

Now, he did the same thing with Lazarus. He did the same thing with Jairus’s daughter in Mark 5. So He did this before, where he resurrected others. He’s done this throughout scripture, whether before or after this moment. He did this in scripture, where people were shocked. Their idea of death was changed.

Not that they just believed no one died. We all know that people pass, we all know that situations close, we know that doors close that were never meant to remain open. But in these three instances - Lazarus out of the grave, Jairus’s daughter, the 12‑year‑old who was revived, and, in this case, the person who has no name - the “young man” is his name, being resurrected by the words of Jesus.

These three instances show us that there are sometimes, in some situations, where we can see the glory of God bring back something that we thought had an obvious deadline. Past the deadline, past what we thought was possible, the Lord resurrects it. He brings life back into it. In this case, the compassion of Him, the heart of Jesus, is what moved all three of these things.

It was the faith of Jesus.

It was an indication of this great man, this Son of God, that he saw beyond the natural. That the miracle, signs, and wonders that we were seeing went beyond the natural. These were derived in the Spirit. There were hours that Jesus prayed to turn around what seemed like impossible situations.

For Peter walking on the water, for the disciples who knew that there weren’t enough fish and there weren’t enough loaves, but God turned that situation; for Mary and for Martha, who knew their brother was dead. The way that we knew that things were over, that we knew they were done. The way that we could read in the scripture these things, and to see that the compassion of the Lord failed not. The compassion of Jesus turned something.

And in this case, no one asked. Not in the case of Lazarus and not in the case of this young man. No one asked for Jesus to revive them. But we see in John 11 a little bit of the indication of why Jesus did this. When we look at the death, and we look at the resurrection, the disciples did not understand why Jesus was still going to the town of Bethany if Lazarus was already dead.

And He had to say plainly to them that Lazarus was dead, because they kept saying, Well, if he’s sleeping, he’s going to be okay. But Jesus was conveying that he was sleeping because someone saw it as a deep sleep. He didn’t see the end as the end.

But when we walk through the scripture, in verse 12 it says of John 11:12,

¹² Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.

¹³ Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.

¹⁴ Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.

¹⁵ And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him. - John 11:12-15 KJV

So in John 11:12-15 KJV, we see that Jesus plainly had to tell them: Okay, he’s dead. He’s not sleep. He’s not just taking a rest. He’s dead. And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe. What is the intent of you waiting two more days? That ye may believe. Even the delay was a blessing for their faith.

It was different: Jesus bringing Lazarus from the dead, Jesus having compassion on this mother, on this widow. They didn’t just see Him wake up somebody who was sleeping outside of those city gates. They saw Him revive the dead, and the dead start speaking, and who knows how many days he was there before he was taken out of the city on the bier.

That we may believe, some situations seem impossible. They seem highly unlikely. It seems like it’s not going to work. But the Lord is faithful, and He’s more than able. There is a grace and a glory that goes forth in these situations where it seems impossible. It seems like the end. It seems like it’s over. But, yut you surrender it to God, and in the surrender, the Lord has his way.

In Mark 5, something particular happened in that instance of resurrection. In Mark 5, when they report to Jairus that his daughter is dead, they say, Why are you troubling the Master? Your daughter is dead. When Jesus hears this, he says something particular to Jairus that may speak to us millennia later, in every situation that we may be facing where it seems like it’s over.

In verse 35, Mark 5:35, it states:

³⁵ While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?

³⁶ As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe. - Mark 5:35-36 KJV

Only believe. It’s not over yet.

What may seem dead, what may seem old, and what may seem too late because we’ve grown and we’re too far gone from who we were, or maybe, just maybe, it’s been decades or it’s been years, and is it time, or has the time gone by? We serve the God who holds the time in His hands. We serve the God who opens up the heavens at His discretion, at His will.

We are followers of the God who sent his Son to endure the cross, death, burial, and the resurrection, that we would be reconciled, that he would be the seed of many. There’s nothing too hard for the Lord. There’s nothing too hard for our God.

When looking at those dead things in your life, looking at those dreams that you put on the shelf, those things that stayed on the back burner so long that they became obsolete. Maybe it just feels like it’s too long, and that, you know, too many seasons have come and gone. But the will of the Father prevails. The Lord will restore. The Lord restores. He makes all things new in His time. He turns the battles around.

When we trust him, we can begin to experience that grace and that glory. We can begin to experience that peace in every part of our lives. When we know that it may seem like it’s over, but when God comes, he comes bearing life. He comes bearing the weight of glory. He comes with a fresh fire. He comes, and he proves that the deadlines didn’t matter, that all things work to the glory of the Lord. They work in the favor of our God. All things work together for your good.

My Prayer for You:

Father, in the name of Jesus, thank you. Lord God, I thank you that your mercies are new every morning. I thank you for this daily devotional. I thank you, God, that it is a little bit more somber than usual, but, God, sometimes a little somberness is needed. A little reminder that you are with us.

A reminder, God, that in the peace, in the stillness, in the rest before your presence, O God, that your Spirit still speaks, that your glory goes forth. Whether we’re ministering from the rooftops or whether we’re sitting in quiet prayer, your glory is right here in the midst of us.

So wherever the mighty woman of God is, I thank you, Lord God, in whatever capacity she’s listening, maybe she’s in her car, maybe she’s on the way to work, or maybe she’s in her kitchen and she’s preparing breakfast and this word is going forth, O God, Lord, I just thank you that it’s not over.

I thank you, God, that the situations in her life, O God, are not over, that the grace and the glory of God come in your presence. Lord God, I thank you for the fullness of joy. I thank you, God, for your right hand, the right hand of God that keeps us, lifts us, restores us in the name of Jesus.

I thank you, Lord God, that it’s not over. I thank you right now, God, that the mighty woman of God would be reminded that you are her God in and out of season, and that if it is your will that she start building again, believing again, that you will empower her to see the victory in Christ Jesus.

Lord, I thank you, and I bless you right now, God, for the outpouring of your Spirit. I thank you right now, for, God, you are Jireh. You are God alone, and there’s nobody like you. I thank you, Lord God, for the peace of God. I thank you for being God in the midst.

Yes, it’s okay to ask. It’s okay to desire. It is okay to look to God to supply your needs according to His riches and glory. These are things that the Lord has promised us.

We are encouraged in the world to try to fix things on our own. But the Word tells us that even though the world may do things that way by itself, a lone wolf doing things on its own, in Christ, we can ask for what we need. We can lay down the pride, and we can lay down the worry. And we can go before the Lord and ask. We can inquire of the Lord, we can ask one another, we can seek that we may find. It is okay to ask in prayer.

Matthew 7:7-12 shows us that there is a way to pray and that when we pray, we want to believe what it is that we’re praying for, believe that it is finished, that it’s already done. For this is the promise of God: that we can pray, we can seek His face, and that we can believe that He hears us.

We can definitely ask for more.

Asking is not an indication of a lack of gratitude. It is not the indication that you feel like you don’t have enough. Asking is merely our heart’s desire to see the fruition of something that we know only God can give. Maybe peace in our hearts and minds. Maybe we’re asking for breakthrough in certain parts of our lives, relationships, or finances.

In all of these things, we know we might have our own strength and do it in our own way, and we can lean to our own understanding, or we can stop. We can acknowledge God in all of our ways, and He can direct our path in the things that we thought we already had figured out.

Why? Because when we ask God for His help, we show him implicitly that we trust him, that we seek him, that we won’t move without Him. This empowerment in the Holy Spirit for us to ask our God for help, to seek him out, to seek out clarity and fresh vision. These things make us different. These things cause us to be perceived differently.

Yes, we have the right, we have the power, and we have the capacity to go out and do it in our own strength. So why do it here? Why do it with God? Why ask? Because when you ask God to step in, that means you can let go of having control. You can let go of having all things worked out.

You can let go of trying to figure it out on your own.

When you call in the Lord, and you seek him, and you lay down every weight, the lightness that comes in is a testament to the glory of the living God. The lightness, the yoke breaking, the heaven is breaking. And in this place, renewed joy, restored happiness. The breaker anointing, which is going forth now over families, over relationships, over finances.

Because when it starts with you, when you seek God, when you ask the Lord in the name of Jesus, you are opening the door to God, coming in and pouring out what he already has for you. This is what he’s already done. This is the grace and glory of God.

When you open up your heart, and you ask, you’re not afraid of asking. You’re not afraid of praying, you’re not afraid of seeking. You’re not afraid. And because you’re not afraid, the enemy can’t use fear to keep you stuck. He can’t use lack of progress to keep you going around in cycles of shame and feeling demoralized. The enemy cannot overcome God.

So, inviting God into your situation through prayer, inviting them in, asking him to cover you, asking him for the weight of glory, asking him for breakthrough in finances, relationships, marriage, money, whatever the case may be, in your heart, in your body, in healing, soundness of mind, and purpose. All the things we ask God for, He can supply it according to His riches and glory. He can cover every need in the name of Jesus; he can cover all that you require.

But seeking Him is a part of that journey.

Turning to Him and turning away from our own understanding is required. Stepping before the Lord in the fullness thereof and knowing that He is El Shaddai. This is what we do when we ask: we tell the world that we belong to the Lord.

When we ask, we remind the enemy that we are not alone. When we open up our mouths and we ask the Lord, we ask. We inquire of the Lord. We ask and ask over and over again. We never get tired of going before the Lord like a daughter and a son that goes before their father and never gets tired of asking for what they need.

Let us be like the one that will knock that the door may be open to us. Let us be like the one who believes and will wait on the wall for the Lord to bring an answer. Let us be like the one who has longsuffering and trusts God implicitly, no matter what it looks like right now. But we’re walking by faith and not by sight.

This is the way to walk with the Father. This is the way to be blessed by God. This is the way to see things move is that we would trust in him, that we would lay down every weight in this world, and that we would go forth in the name of Jesus. For He is God alone.

He is El Shaddai. He is our great keeper, our strong tower, our great defense. He is mighty to save, mighty to deliver and mighty to set free in the name of Jesus. In this season, don’t be afraid to open up your heart and ask.

Don’t be afraid to go before the King of glory and inquire of the Lord. Don’t be afraid to have this conversation with God, where He hears your heart and where you know that you’re being heard. For remember, the Lord is always with us, but prayer is our reminder that we are also with God. We can seek him, we can trust him, and he’s more than able.

My prayer for you:

Father. I thank you for the mighty woman of God. I thank you, God, that this entire message was one about asking, about trusting, about leaning in and not leaning to our own understanding, but acknowledging you, God, in all of our ways that you may direct our path.

I thank you for miracles, signs, and wonders over the mighty woman of God. I thank you that many are the afflictions of the righteous, oh God, but you deliver us from them all. So I thank you, oh God for the breaker. I thank you for the healing. I thank you that the mighty woman of God will walk in the liberty for whom the Son sets free is free indeed.

I thank you, God, that she’s not afraid to ask. She’s not afraid to seek you. She’s not afraid to ask you to come in and change her heart, to change her mind, to change her behaviors in the name of Jesus.

Lord, I thank you. I thank you, Lord, I bless you. I thank you, oh God, for you are more than able. I thank you for the consistency. I thank you for the ways being made. I thank you, Lord, and I pray in Jesus,‘ mighty name, amen.

We live in a world where production, time management, and constant work are required to be accepted by the world. To be considered valuable, to be considered successful, and to be considered a success in your life to others requires production. It requires evidence in the natural. It requires the fruit of this world.

And sometimes it’s easy to fall into that trap. It’s easy for our families, for our husbands, for us, and for our children to fall into this trap of constantly working, constantly building, and constantly being on the move so that you seem successful and put together to everyone else.

But here in these three scriptures, we see something distinctly different. We see liberty from doing, liberty from constant work, and liberty from the pressure of production. We see in these scriptures that God works out all things in His time. Regardless of what we’re doing day by day, the Lord works out all things in his time.

Romans 8:28 supports that. It states:

²⁸ And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. - Romans 8:28 KJV

That verse of scripture doesn’t say all things work together for those who work very hard, or for those who are always getting things done. All things don’t work together just because you are forcing them to work or you are overworking yourself so that we can get a task list finished.

When you begin to walk with God, it is less about task lists and to‑do lists, and it’s more about presence with God. It’s more about being in His presence, trusting in His will, and walking in His way. When you are walking with God, God takes on the onus of the performance of the work. He takes on the onus and the authority for making the crooked ways straight.

It is the Lord who tells us which way to go.

It is He who guides our steps. It is the Lord who orders our steps. Not ourselves, not our strength, not our might, not our power, and not the number of hours we put in, but God and God alone.

And when walking with God, there are times of increased activity, and there are times of divine rest. And when you’re walking with Him from time to time and from season to season, trusting Him completely, you are walking in the finished work of God already. You are walking by faith and not by sight. You’re walking by faith and not by might, not by your own strength and power. It is the glory of the Lord that goes before you when you walk with God.

The favor that walks with you in yes and amen, and the favor that walks with you when you’re walking with God. Because we know that all things work, and we know that God is more than able.

As we’re walking with God, everything that’s not like God is falling away. Every distraction, all anxiety, worry, fear, shame, doubt, insecurity; all of these things take a back seat and must bow to the glory of God in your life when you walk with God.

Walking with God opens up pain.

• It opens up transformation.

• It opens up breakthrough.

• It opens up conviction.

But it also opens up peace, joy, love, glory, and favor.

The glory of the Lord is with you when you’re walking with God. The favor of God is with you when you follow Him. We see in Psalm 23 that walking with God has some unique benefits. Walking through the valley of the shadow of death and having no fear is a benefit. God preparing a table before you in the presence of your enemies is a benefit. Goodness and mercy following you all the days of your life is the benefit of you dwelling in the house of the Lord and following God all the days of your life.

These are the promises of God. It is the scripture. It is the goodness of God as we walk with him. No more worrying about the time. No more fear over deadlines. God makes all things beautiful in his time.

Father, in the name of Jesus, thank you. Thank you for the grace and the glory. Thank you, God, for being Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. There is nobody like you, King of Glory.

I thank you for covering the mighty woman of God. I thank you for breaking everything that’s not like you. I thank you, Lord God, for the strong finish that the mighty woman of God is walking into. I thank you that her faith, O God, would arise.

And that as she begins to walk with you more intimately, closely, remaining in your presence, that all of the worries and all of the weight of yesterday will break away. Here and now, I pray for the morning to be set up in glory. I pray for the morning to be blessed in the name of Jesus, for you are the Lord our God, and there is nobody like you. I thank you, Lord, and I pray in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.

The biggest weapon of the enemy is shame. Shame at what was done to you. Shame at the things you did before you knew God. Shame for the mistakes you wish you could undo in your anger, in wrath, and in knee-jerk reactions. All of this weight and all of this shame are intentionally meant to keep you away from God.

To keep you in hiding is the sin of Adam and Eve, who felt shame in the garden to keep them away from God. Everything that we walk out day-to-day, everything that we walk through day-to-day, is meant to transform us, not in the ways of this world, but to show us the way to walk through the world with our God.

The moment that shame and condemnation come into play, the enemy begins to have his way. You begin to pull away, to hide, and to feel as if you are unworthy of being in the presence of the living God. But there is, fortunately, a word for that.

In Romans 8:1, it states:

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.- Romans 8:1 KJV

In this case, repenting, turning around, going back to the Father. These are the things that He seeks from us 70 times 7 (Matthew 18:22 KJV). This is what the Lord spoke of in scripture, about forgiveness, about release, and about trying again. This is the heart of the Father, that we can come back to him and that prayerfully we don’t continue to sin that grace may abound (Romans 6:1 KJV), but we come back, and we stay connected.

That we choose the grace of God over the validation and acceptance of this world. That we choose to rest in the presence of the living God versus seeking out the world and all of its good things, all of its apparent success, and all of its apparent pleasures. To turn to God and say,

We see the example with the prodigal who, even in the midst of eating with the pigs, God brought back to him his righteous mind. And he recognized that even his Father’s servants ate better than that (Luke 15:17 KJV). This is the part where we say:

This is how we begin to open up dialogue with the Lord our God. We open up dialogue to forgive ourselves first. Forgive ourselves for what we did not know. Forgive ourselves for the lack of control. Forgive ourselves for knee-jerk reactions. Forgive ourselves for not seeing the obvious red flags in people around us.

Forgive ourselves for not knowing better, for doing things in our youth that when we grew older, we realized were wrong and we realized were not aligned, God. So I thank you right now, God, that there is grace in your presence. That for shame, oh God, you give us honor, and that there’s a great exchange. We can give you the old, oh God, and receive the new.

So Lord, I thank you. I thank you. I thank you, Lord God, for the mighty woman of God. I thank you for covering us.

It’s easy for me to slip into prayer because prayer is my ministry. But this devotional doesn’t end in prayer. It ends in a good word. It ends on a positive note. And so prayerfully, even that little mini prayer just begins to shift us into a place of just lifting our hands and giving God the glory because He is worth it. He is El Shaddai.

He is our keeper, our strong tower, and our great defense. He is the Lord. When we read scriptures like Psalm 91, which tell us that He will not allow our foot to graze a stone (Psalm 91:12 KJV). We know that we can walk with God, and in the midst of it, that He will cover us. He will keep us.

We don’t have to wander about it. It is the truth of the matter, and the Lord is with us in the midst. And so, here now, as you rest tonight, as maybe you journal in the evening, grab that pen and begin to release everything that you wish you could change. Everything that you’ve done and all of the shame for what you may be carrying.

The hurt that others have caused you and the hurt that you may have caused yourself. Release all of that layer by layer. Strip it with the help of the Holy Spirit. Begin to release it. Begin to forgive yourself. Begin to let go and begin to recognize that here and now, you can take authority and dominion in the very present.

You can take back control. Not from God, because we’re always walking with God, but we can take our hearts, our minds, our souls back from this world and place them before the Lord in prayer and fasting, and in submission to His word, His will, and His way. For we are all his daughters and his sons.

So, turning to God and knowing that nothing can take us from him, nothing can separate us from Him. There is a beautiful scripture in Romans 8:38-39, that really gives us peace, and I pray that it blesses you.

It states Romans 8:38-89:

³⁸ For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

³⁹ Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

There’s always a way to come back, there’s always a path to restoration, and you may not see it in this moment, but sitting with God, resting in His presence, releasing and forgiving yourself first are the paths to forgiving others. These are the things that we do when we want to get back in His presence.

We want to sit under the weight of glory. We want to heal from every affliction, and we want to walk forward in Christ Jesus. The quicker we do this, the quicker we can begin to see things begin to line up in our favor. Doors begin to open, and the path to restoration becomes clear in His presence and by His Spirit.
